As someone who cleans pools for a living, I gotta say it's quite funny to see duckling wrangling on tv!!!!! Every spring we have to catch ducklings out of pools and the submarine ducklings are the funniest. When it's a well maintained pool and the water is crystal clear you can see them zip around underwater and they get so confused when you're there to catch em when they come up!!!! Its even more hilarious when you catch em underwater cuz they are like "HOW DID YOU FIND ME I WAS INVISIBLE!!!!!" 😆😂😂😂
Ahaa, totally! We rescued a duckling when I was a little girl, she was only a day or two after hatching and the lady wanted to just dump her to the local victorian style zoo with the adult ducks, so of course we took her in. We were worried that the clorine in the pool was not suitable for a tiny creature, so when the time came for Kate (I'm awesome with duck names, I know) to learn to swim we took her outside in a large laundry basket full of water. At first she was afraid of the water, but after a few dips, she went bananas. One moment she was here, splashing about, the next she was speeding towards the pool with me covered in water. Pretty sure my mum still has a photo of me drenched and a tiny yellow dot in the background. She had the time of her life in the pool, and I was really excited every time she zoom underwater, it was impressive, but we never took her out again. We've got hawks here, giant magpies and other amazing wildlife that wants to eat your pets (only this summer a kestrel attacked my budgies, thank goodness I was only a foot away to shoo it away). Finally we gave her to the park she was going to be dumped in, but only after she was an adult and could take care of herself. We'd visit often to see her, it was easy to find her because she had some black markings on her beak and she was the only duck that approached us not to beg for food but cuddles! Oh I miss Katie.
@@specialbudgies4217 yeah the chlorine is bad for ducklings, but the reason pools are primarily bad for them is because they can hop in but can't hop out and eventually get too exhausted to swim anymore. They can also get sucked into the skimmer and get stuck which is very sad because it can be fatal. That's why we always try to catch and release ducklings away from pools and discourage ducks from swimming in pools. That sounds really sweet that you rescued a duckling as a child! I'm happy you got that experience to raise her so she could be a happy duck 😊
Wouldn't it have been quicker and less stressful for the ducklings to quickly scoop them up in a net instead of stalking them like prey? And why separate the mother duck from her babies instead of putting them all in one carrier? They must have been terrified.
I'll never forget when I was about 5 I went to a zoo and got an icecream cone....went and stood in front of the emu exhibit (there was a fence) I had my back turned to the emu to have my picture taken and the emu stuck his head thru the fence and stole my icecream cone!! It is almost every time the same with sick birds. Bad diet, they are kept alone and people are just totally clueless about what it takes to keep a bird happy and healthy. You should not get a parrot, if you can not care for it propperly!
Pets have psychological needs. Parrots need lots of attention. The parrot knows Harry doesn’t like him. He’s competing with Harry for Christine’s attention. Only one male in this house!
Okay so, I was looking up about cassowaries. Apparently the females have no part in raising the chicks at all. They lay the eggs and then bugger off to lay eggs elsewhere by other males 😂 the dad incubates the eggs (which takes about 50 days) and raises them until they are around 9 months of age 😊❤
When they found the other eggs, all I could think of was Jurassic Park (these birds look like dinosaurs! Real life ones!). She lured them in with a single egg in plain sight and then AMBUSH! haha... Anyone else getting Steve Irwin vibes from Tim?? 🥰
My grandmother had a little canary that loved her. He would sing every time he saw her. On bath day the kitchen table was covered with newspaper and he would spend the afternoon splashing and flying. He loved to perch on the curtains and chatter at grandmother. He never pooped where he shouldn't. If he did his freedom would be over.
If people have birds they need to be prepared for bird poo. It isn't fair to stop a bird having time out of the cage just because they poo somewhere else.

The cassowary one cracked me up. “Oh the female wants to mate” lets let the male in. Most zoos takes months of talk and debate to decide if they want a pair of animals to mate. Guess it’s our Aussie laidback attitude lmao
Thats not really how i interpreted it.. They had waited for her to become reproductively ready, they had her for 5 years. Also there is only like 1000 of the species left. Of course they want to let them breed if possible.
I love that you Australians are so conscious animals wellbeing & appreciate them & the environment. I wish more countries would adopt your attitude about nature & animals. Australia was used as a "penal colony" by the English crown yet I feel that citizens there have better values in certain areas vs the royals who decided to drop off the British citizens in an unknown & vast wilderness. Bravo to you & the other Aussies for appreciating the flora & fauna of your country.
Having an endangered species like the cassowary wanting to mate in a zoo without human intervention is incredibly rare. Even so, its wonderful that the cassowary as a species will add some more animals to their endangered status because of this zoo.
@@GeorgiaGeorgette Yes. We worked with all sorts of birds at a rescue/rehab center (lots of raptors), a small animal vet, and a wild animal hospital. First thing is a towel put slowly over their face/head (they don't move at all.) Then a gloved hand to hold the feet and it went smooth as silk. You could easily tip them on their backs for radiographs. Domestic bird, let it walk to a corner, gently but quickly "toss" a light towel on top of it. No movement from the bird.
Wow watching the one guy talk about the dinosaur looking birds trying to see if they would mate, is very interesting. Like the bird seriously looks like the last dinosaur. And I’m not sure of everyone’s names, but the guy reminds me of Steve Irwin.. this is for sure my new favorite channel!

@@allaselboskar5767 Animals that require hard care, be it because of danger from the animal or for the animal, are already often regulated around the world and require licensing. That doesn't stop people from being abusive. You just make another crime that warants a fine, instead of enforcing actual crack downs in case of bad care. I don't have a license but any pet I've had has had regular appointments with a specialised vet, the first of which is to finetune husbandry after long periods of thinking and researching the animal before even getting it. A gigantic amount of petshops have licenses and still mistreat animals on an industrial scale. Good treatment of pets is about research and listening to a vet, not getting a paper from a 10 hour class.
Most people who get pets are clueless. You can't just point out bird owners... how many dog owners know Aconitum. Amaryllis bulbs. Asparagus fern. Azalea. Bluebells. Cyclamen. Daffodil bulbs. Day lilies. To name a few, are plants that can harm your dogs?
By the introduction alone, I deduced that the original source of this aggression is the way that the lady is touching the bird. You're not supposed to touch birds below the neck or it may trigger a hormonal state that causes the bird to emotionally fuse to one individual and try to stave off any others. But, being that this bird has been in this hormonal state for such a long time, it's psychologically taking a toll on him. Hence the feather plucking. I'm sure that lady has been touching him below the neck since he was obtained.
@@alexlow5192 oh, I'm so glad. Usually birds that have plucked to such a degree (that patch on his back was fully bald!!) don't get their feathers back if they've damaged the follicles.
@Deeppear And when he added "a good friend of your Mother's", I was dead.
My parents laughed.....I cried...and didn't get another icecream cone :'( my family still brings it up to this day...I'm 28 now lol 😂
Yes sometimes emus can b cheekie
Kinda messed up that they didn't get you another ice cream. I'd buy my boy a new one if that happened even if it was my last dollar .
Emily, we share the same name and I got pissed on by an ostrich during a school presentation by the local zoo when I was 5 or 6. I just turned 40. I feel you sis. Some scars last forever
Pretty cold not to buy you another ice cream cone. I wouldn't do that to my kid.
Lol😭✋🏻😂
ive read its bad to pet a parrots back and stomach as its a mating thing and will confuse the bird which is probably why hes aggressive
You’re correct, it’s also why he’s masturbating on the mans arm. I’ll bet if the woman is doing it her husband is also doing it. They’ve triggered his hormones now he’s all randy and doesn’t know what to do with himself.
Yes, I pet my parrot but on the head. People like this make me mad 😠 they don't do any research before they get a parrot. They are more complex than ppl realize
I was hoping to see Tim tackle an emu and I was not disappointed 😂
Those emus are strong critters.
I thought it said tickle a emu dam my dyslexia but would be funny though 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Bro my dad has tackled a full grown emu and he had to grab it by the leg 5yr old me was laughing so hard because he was just being dragged around on the floor 😂
@@cuteandfluffypikachu3405 same here bro!!
Moe, Larry and Curly! The Three Stooges 🤣 The guys definitely had their hands full.
It is almost every time the same with sick birds. Bad diet, they are kept alone and people are just totally clueless about what it takes to keep a bird happy and healthy. You should not get a parrot, if you can not care for it propperly!
That goes for any animal. People really need to know what a makes a pet happy, and be villing to provide that before getting said pet!
Pets have psychological needs. Parrots need lots of attention. The parrot knows Harry doesn’t like him. He’s competing with Harry for Christine’s attention. Only one male in this house!
Are you a vet or something? All people have to do is research. Like god damn it
@@caitlynskiramman Research God?
@@mariekatherine5238 LOL no I should have worded that better Lamo.
The seahorses of giant scary birds
Dr.Chris’ reaction to seeing the little submarine duck for the first time had me dying 🤣🤣🤣 his reaction was so cute and the ducks were adorable
The cassowaries were fascinating! I didn't expect the eggs to be green.
I know, right!? All I could think of was green eggs and ham by doctor Seuss🤣
Dr. Chris out there catching ducks and doing game sidequests in real life
When they found the other eggs, all I could think of was Jurassic Park (these birds look like dinosaurs! Real life ones!). She lured them in with a single egg in plain sight and then AMBUSH! haha...
Anyone else getting Steve Irwin vibes from Tim?? 🥰
I agree the first time I saw a wild Cassawary at the local zoo thst is! I THOUGHT PREHISTORIC! Giant bird
@@GeorgiaGeorgette being a farmer grandmother was familiar with poo, just not in her house. That little canary was very smart and knew the rules.
I love your story of your dear sweet Grandmother and her precious canary. Bath day was a fun time and I know that they all enjoyed it very much.
Me too!
Yes me too but it's was just the opposite, my canaries had a little grandmother!
Omg I had chills on my body when I saw his feathers puff up like that 😳
My respect to the vet for going into that pool he truly loves animals
The submarine duckling was so cute
Australians just keep losing fights to emus lol
24:22 Whoa, that duckling's a speedy little bugger! 🐤💨
I like how all those people's "lunch" was two pieces of bread pressed together with absolutely nothing else. Good thing it's not staged, huh?
😂
That’s because it’s the birds food and the children aren’t smart enough to clue into it
@@kathrynblair8845 I imagine the bread was for the birds, but they kept calling it lunch over and over, making sure they had something for them to "take"
I don’t think the bird’s staging anything tho
Lmao! I was thinking, what the Hell, are you only allowed to eat sandwiches in the park there? 😁
Emu thug squad...😂 Amazing green coloured eggs of the Cassowary....eagerly waiting for the hatching of the fertilized eggs.
“It’s the submarine duck” 😂😂😂😂😂
It was adorable 🥰
As a bird mom, that woman infuriates me. She obviously did very little research
Did you see the cockatiels in those tiny round cages? Jeez
@@specialbudgies4217 I did, really sad. Oh hey! You're budgies look the same as my two :D
@@anxqel Awesome! Since then I've adopted a third one, because the breeder couldn't handle his injury, so now there's three. Dawn, the yellowish one is actually an opaline greywing, Iris of course is the wild variation and our newest addition, Scrooge McFluff, is a lutino half English boy. What about your flock, what are their names?
@@specialbudgies4217 Aww I totally wish I could get a third. My two little munchkins are called Sunny and Pickles(Real original I know). Sunny is a Latino variation and I don't know much about Pickles, I think he's just your average green, they're English Budgies, so the larger angry looking kind but they're still pretty young so they aren't angry yet
Yeah, you need to know what you're doing if you're going to have birds. They are a HUGE responsibility. I know enough to know I can't manage that.
The First Lady is an absolute hoot but she’s killing him slowly
Yeah, it’s sad to see cause she obviously loves him but she’s committing just about every sin in the parrot keeping book and it’s obviously showing in the poor little guy.
I can't concentrate on any of the stories! The doctor is an absolute vision of perfection! I mean seriously! Blonde, blue-eyed, tall, handsome... his eyes match his aqua shirt for Christ's sake! How can anybody concentrate!
The Australian Reptile Park has a very broad definition of "reptiles."
Birds & reptiles are cousins :)
The also have mammals, such as Tasmanian devils
I love my Quaker parrot even though he doesn't :)
Although birds are cousins, my brain instantly went - they do keep saying reptile right? haha
@@Somedude20282 birds are reptiles doe
The cassowary one cracked me up. “Oh the female wants to mate” lets let the male in. Most zoos takes months of talk and debate to decide if they want a pair of animals to mate. Guess it’s our Aussie laidback attitude lmao
Probably cause they are going extinct so they take the chance whenever.
Bravo Australia! The care & compassion you feel for the animals there is truly amazing.
When Chris brought out the Prosac that just got me I laughed out loud.
No way I would be catching Emu's.
Chris is a great parrot wrangler.
I laughed so hard when they hugged and Harry was just fuming.
Incredible to see the cassowaries together! Hope for the species xx
Having an endangered species like the cassowary wanting to mate in a zoo without human intervention is incredibly rare. Even so, its wonderful that the cassowary as a species will add some more animals to their endangered status because of this zoo.
"let's get a bird dog for our bird' 😅 That relationship is gonna go well.
Hahaha I thought the same thing.
"It reduces the stress level."
Ambushes and subdues bird with towel.
He should have wrapped the bird immediately and not let it get that stressed to begin with.
Alison & Audrey are a great team! Those little animal patients get the pampering they deserve.
The guy is Tim Faulkner :) Extremely dedicated to the animals in the zoo, with a treasure box of knowledge on probably all of them.
I can trim my parrots claws and beak with 0 stress... then she lets me use an emery board on her beak to clean it up a bit and remove old growth. I am only allowed to do this after many years of trust built up between us.
This guy wrangling the Emus is so Australian. I love it.
The Great Emu War 2.0
I am in shock at how abusively clueless this woman is about birds... This is why I think bird owners need to be licensed.
I think all pet owners should be licensed so you can be more certain they will treat their pets correctly
Animals get harmed by ignorant people. Sad but true.
You can't just point out bird owners... how many dog owners know
Aconitum.
Amaryllis bulbs.
Asparagus fern.
Azalea.
Bluebells.
Cyclamen.
Daffodil bulbs.
Day lilies.
To name a few, are plants that can harm your dogs?
Was she giving the bird bubbly as in Champagne
I’m pretty sure the grunting of the emus translates to, DUDE I USED TO BE A DINOSAUR PUT ME DOWN
By the introduction alone, I deduced that the original source of this aggression is the way that the lady is touching the bird.
The forever war between the Australian and the emu
So what happened to Harry the parrot that was self-mutilating himself by pulling out his feathers? Did he heal??
He did
@@alexlow5192 oh, I'm so glad. Usually birds that have plucked to such a degree (that patch on his back was fully bald!!) don't get their feathers back if they've damaged the follicles. I'm glad he got a bit better, though I sincerely hope they've stopped sexually arousing their bird and have done research and implemented a much healthier diet for an eclectus..
I love how they got outsmarted by a baby duck. 😂😂
I love this guy. The story of blue bell really broke my heart and got me watching. He really knows his stuff
“Cuddle me, mate”. Best emu catching tip

@ashley ranch.....Naw! The bird has prettier feathers!!
I used to think so, but his attitude to that fan painting that he sent to Lisa chimes as a ‘joke’ rubbed me the wrong way. Now I’m a Scott fan.
Im good at catching birds mid air (i have alot of birds that live in an aviary) but its a hard thing to do right and that clip of Chris catching the ringneck. Great catch!!! You have to catch the body, not the head, or legs or wings or tail, the body and he did and didnt let go despite the bites!
I love the way their heads follow the direction the decide to run. Kind of like a dragging motion, it makes them appear zANyyyy! Good job boys!
chris is hilarious and I wish more people talked about that 😭 he kills me
DUCKLINGS: Glad they were rescued and placed in a suitable environment but it's sad the 4th one wasn't there 😭. Very cute animals.
I've never seen someone grab and carry an emu before haha
Sounds like he was gonna kidnap the ducklings when he said come to uncle Chris good friend of you Mom's

im sorry but seeing chris kneeling down on the ground and being the same height as John on the couch!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
Theres lots of ways to decrease hormonal issues with that first bird. No petting the bird on the back or belly, that makes them hormonal, and then very frustrated! Changing to a better Diet and having proper daylight hours also helps.

Poor Harry. 💔🙏🏻. Re prozac use for dopamine, serotonin, feel-good, etc : I wish that more vets understood and used LDN (Low Dose Naltrexone) for animals (a compounded med which causes human and animal bodies to produce feel-good/pain reduction). Thankfully more are learning.

A vet that has never seen a bird be sexually frustrated?... Huh? also I would has a guess and say a more variety of diet for the Eckie to include fruits and veggies wouldn't go astray lol
Ikr! I was like: I can spend 5 minutes on the internet and stumble across a bird attempting to shag it's owner, perch, or favourite toy. Hell, I have several friends with over attached budgies/lorikeets XD
I've seen it with people I know who have birds. Not even the internet. It's really common and I'm not a vet.
Yeah, that had me really scratching my head, I almost wish I never watched this video because the opening scene pissed me off so badly. Is the man not an avian vet, just a regular vet?
@@pandap4ntz Most birds are seen as "exotics" & are treated by a specialist and not general vets. And I ain't even a vet.
I know, I was amazed by the vets ignorance, hormonal Eccles are pretty common, much like it’s treatment / management, and it’s NOT straight to Prozac.... I guess this helps me to appreciate there’s a bloody good a reason I’m $200 poorer for the booking fee alone, whenever I take my eccy to see his knowledgeable, experienced, reliable (and really expensive!!!) It's amazing how you guys understand each animals problem. Over here the vet won't understand until we tell them what is the problem. They don't love animals as much.
"Come to uncle Chris ".that was funny.
I also thought they are going to teach the emus how to behave and was wondering where the trick is. But sent to different places. Anyway problem solved. Hope I can go to Australia to see those wonderful species again.
He pulled out the Prozac and I was like: Hey! I take those.
Bird one: I have a conure who was very “inappropriate” during his breeding seasons. He also nipped off the green of his chest feathers leaving the fluff and shaft so not plucking! He is gradually growing out of it after about 13 years.
My parrot loves everyone except some but loves vets especially if you show some treats 😂
That little duckling that dived under is really smart. Never seen one do that before
