- In this how to video; a guide to replace your anti roll bar link, drop link, ARB drop bar.. whatever you want to call it.
Specifically for a Peugeot 206...
However this type and method of replacement can be found/used on a number of Citroens and Peugeots....and even non french stuff!!!
I hope it proves helpful.
There are other methods and you may have other ways you prefer. That is fine. Just keep it safe!

You are awesome.
Took me 6 hours on the driver side and ended up cutting the bolts. Then, I saw your video in the evening, and managed to do the passenger side in 1,5 hours with your tip about the clamps.
Well done! That's a new record of how long it has taken someone BUT I'm still proud of you, YOU did it, well done 👍👍🐷
Thanks for posting your video. Autumn 2022 and just MOT'd my daughters 206cc and the only advisory was a split gaiter on a drop link. Just ordered two for £17 and will get on with it when it stops raining. Just a drive shaft seal to fix as well.
Nice! Easy fixes! 👍😁
New to Italy from Canada and these are very helpful. Cheers!🇮🇹🇨🇦
So you're a Canadian in Italy with a french car? Or an Italian in Canada with a french car? 🤔😅🐷👍
Superb thank u very much. The grips sorted it after fearing the worst
No worries! Well done! 🐷💪
Thanks mate, great video, nice to see you taking time explaining the hazards especially rusty bolts, nuts which can be easily overlooked, going to do this next weekend, but will prep the car just as you did beforehand today.
All the best! 👍🐷
Very helpful series of videos, thanks man. Can't afford the garage bills on our 206cc. So your the first call when I need jobs doing. Easy to follow and brilliant man. Like they say in this part of Yorkshire Penny's count!!!
No worries, glad I can help 👌🐷💪
You don't need to answer this! But with out any details what part of the UK are you in? Great to follow a UK you tube channel!
Hi Anthony, I'm based in the Cotswolds, not far from Prescott Hill Climb. 😁👌🐷💪
Thanks again for following and commenting 👍
replaced both these today, your vid made it a doddle, thank you
funny, though, the nuts on the original bars were 16mm, new ones were 17mm
Yeah, over the years, they change around. Depends if they've been changed before and which supplier you use for new. Well done for doing the job, glad it went well 👌🐷
great vid as allways! this helps me alot! im not a big fan of this kind of work but your vids helps alot and makes it fun when i can do the job by myself
Makes me very happy to read comments like this! So pleased to help and encourage people to have a go!
Take your time, have fun! Fix it for free!
🐷💪
You're welcome
Just got 206gti 180, which needs a lot replacing these vids are going to save my sanity! If lowering the front by 35mm do I need short drop links? Cheers great vids
You should be ok with 35mm. Anymore and it's worth considering adjustables 👍
Glad to help .. hope you are subscribed 🐷💪
These are very similar to the 205 so this video really helped. Thanks 👍
No worries 😀👌🐷💪
Great video as usual. Did this job on my last car a vauxhall corsa as it picked up an mot advisory. Thing is one side had what looked like a newish link the other side old. Naturally it was the older link with the issues. But I decided to replace both at the same time, best practice I understand to replace both sides on suspension/steering components. Did the old rusty one first bit of a fight but it came loose. Expected the newer one to come off easily. After a considerable amount of swearing and the use of an angle grinder it finally came off. Moral of this story it's not just the rusty crusty fixings that can cause issues. As a suggested video following the 206 theme how about a guide on jacking up and placing axle stands. Demo the various ways you would Jack up the 206 for various jobs.

Hi Steve, lovely to read your comments as always. Yes, they can be an absolute pig (!).
I like to avoid videos that could result in the 10% of DiY mechanics, who have less common sense than a fax machine, hurting themselves due to not listening to sage advice about safety.
🐷💪
thank piggy i've got to do these on my car so your vid has came quite handy
No worries! Have fun and stay safe 👌
Smash the subscribe and share the channel with mates if you could 😁🐷💪
Great advice, many thanks! need to do this job this week. I would have clicked Thumbs Up, but it's on number 206 very aptly! ;-)
Hahah, then please subscribe and click the bell 😁😁
@@PiggyPower I have subscribed :-) Sadly, changing my drop-links didn't cure the annoying noise, I'm wondering if it's one or both of the wishbones with the ball-joint and 2 bushes, that's the next job.
Have you actually inspected and investigated the noise?!
@@PiggyPower Yes, the only bit of play anywhere I could find was one drop link, so I replaced them, but the noise remains the same, nothing else appears loose or worn, a more thorough check required!
Done the links up tight? Also it's hard to check the ball joints on these. Need to check them with weight/load on them. 👌
Awesome, thanks! Just started getting a knocking sound on my GTi 180. Hope the work is the same as yours 👍
Could well be ... It's a simple thing to check 👍
Great video for 206cc also. My new SKF links started spinning during install. This made it very hard to install it tight.
You need to install without spinning as spinning wears the joint prematurely... Hold the joint by putting an Allen key/hex socket into the end of the threaded section or a spanner on the back if a slot has been made as part of the design. Then tighten the nut using a spanner 👍
🐷💪
Do you have a video of how to change the front roll bar bushes? I've done a few jobs by referring to your videos. Excellent job.
for the 206?
@@PiggyPower yes, I have a 206 but I'm in the south of France and our Peugeot cars are slightly different in construction and bolts sizes.it passed the controle technique, MOT, Friday morning but because it has 290'000 Kms there are advisories. I just changed the left drop link but theres still a small knock sound there over bumps.
I do believe the 206 in france is the same as here. Just steering wheel on the otherside!
Thanks man and great job as usual.
No worries! Please subscribe if you feel its worth your time... and share the channel too with mates! :)
I signed up for a long time ago. :)
Thankyou 😊😊😊
Good tip with the mole grips.
tah much
I'm having an issue where my new sway bar links are binding and scraping the inside wheel arch when turning... Am I doing something wrong?
100%. Sounds like you've fitted them on the wrong side of the ARB tab
@@PiggyPower it's exactly the same as in your videos Its impossible to fit the other way as it fouls on other suspension components
Are you sure they are the right ones? Is it only one side?
Im gonna do my 207 1.4hdi droplinks tomorrow are they exactly the same because they look exacly the same to me
99% of ARB drop links are the same in principle. 👌 Just work safely 👍🐷💪
really good videos on the 206 thanks for the videos helpt me alot :)
No worries...that's why I do them! Please subscribe if you could 👌🐷💪
@@PiggyPower already did :)
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Good stuff, when you need advice.
It took ages to remove the bolts though. Had to cut them.
Frustrating to use like 2 hours on 4 bolts, when it takes 10 mins to fit new links 😂
Yeah, they can be a real mare. And sometimes the old ones just buzz off with a gun... Other times a drop link that is a month old just spins. Can be a very frustrating simple job!
Well done for getting them done though 👍👍👌👍👌👍
🐽💪
Will this be the same for a 306? Wanting to do a full refresh underneath soon
Yup, almost identical 👌😁🐷💪
Can I just buy a cheap anti roll bar from euro car parts? How much difference will it make?
Unlikely you need an entire anti roll bar... The links though, ECP sell decent ones made by decent manufacturers. Cheap ones you won't feel a difference till they fail earlier than the better made units 👍🐷💪
Great video :-) Long time ago you did this video ;-) Shame you dont do 206 videos any more :-(
I do. What do you think we need from a 206?
@@PiggyPower it would be nice to see how to replace the right drive shaft. And also how to do when lowering a 206 both back and front. Maybe how to fill up the AC by yourself, there are special Kits you can buy for this.... 🙂👌
I've done lowering, see the video for that, it's on a 306 but applies to 106 and 206, 205 etc...
Front is just replacing springs, done videos on that
Drive shaft, covered that in the clutch video.
AC, take it to a pro. High pressure, dangerous gasses and no DIY will tell you if there's a leak
Hello great vid's your making helps me a lot so keep it up. I want to know how to replace the shaft for the steering housing? I bought a new one but the original doesn't seem to have a place to put a wrench they are all around? I have a Peugeot 206 GTI 2001. Sorry, I don't know all the names for parts in English I'm from the Netherlands.
It's ok, your English is good...but I don't full understand what you mean by the shaft for the steering housing? Do you mean the inner track rod? Or the outer track rod end?
@@PiggyPower It was the inner tie rod, and found a way to do it. So no vid needed. Thanks keep up the great videos.
Done the job, if you take top off first releases tension on bottom
And visa versa.
more info for the next week job :D thx u man ;D
No worries 👌
🐷💪
Just replaced mine last week, was quoted $225 for 1 link , needless to say i bought on e bay for $ 29.99 inc postage, (australia)
Goodness me that's an expensive quote!! You can buy them here for about £15 for a pair on eBay! Well done for doing it yourself 👌🐷💪
Nice one thanks!!
No problem! 👍🐷
Good to know. Cheers Piggy
My pleasure 🐷💪
Might want to check wheel alignment after😁
With an ARB swap...no reason to do so whatsoever 👍
Good video
Thankyou 👍
Please like it and subscribe to the channel if you feel it was worth it .. much appreciated 🐷💪
@@PiggyPower already done mate. Gotta stand by us UK people on tube.
Thank you
You use no anti sieze on new threads
There is no need in this situation.
Why are some of those stiff and.some easy to move.
Which parts? Do you mean the joint or the nuts on the threads?
@@PiggyPower the joint where yiu screw tbe nut onto. My genuine suzuki ones are fairly easy to move with 2 fingers but i recently bought an aftermarket brand 555 and you cannot move them with 2 fingers
I would be surprised to ever find a brand new set that are easy to move... It's just 'newness' to put it simply. Wear over time makes the cup the joint sits in enlarge... Eventually to the point it's so loose that it has play and knocks. The outer type which would be quite free when new would be high end rose jointed competition style drop links.
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
🐷💪
Nut splitter
I appreciate the compliment
