    bought the vh-10 some months back. my first "not-a-pad-on-the-rack-with-a-crap-pedal" has been incredible when pair with a real hi-hat stand. before buying, i debated but in the end i was not convinced that the 11's minor metal upgrades were worth the extra money and i feel i made the right call. it feels great and i couldn't imagine preferring the older and heavier design. it enabled me to improve my actual hi-hat skills immensely in just days. happy customer.

    Everyone, on the "Loctite" use the "BLUE" loctite. The "RED" loctite, it'll be very difficult to take apart later. The red is the strong stuff and the blue is medium strength.

    • @BillDiMarco
      @BillDiMarco 5 лет назад +2

      yeah people make sure you check up on the loctite versions and make sure its not a permanent bonder! start from the weakest needed to keep it secure then move on to stronger if you are still having issues being a beat to your hats. you don't want to end up with effectively a welded hihat rod!

      Greetings Justin, Billy☺✌ "Blue" Loctite is fine and slightly over engineered in a good way. I use blue loctite for my alignment bolts on my 2JZGE SC300 sports car differential for racing and back again for city driving. I can snap it loose with slight effort (on and off) make sure you clean the threads before each applications. The thread sealant tape that plumbers use is the most conservative approach. I'm old school, I don't mind that every now and then my drums move, hi hats spins. I like the ritual of re-arranging the set, makes me feel good. Hope that helps. Thank you for you're channel Justin, I believe Edrumming will only get larger and you will be an OG in this. ☺✌🌟🎵🎶

      @@inlasttonowhere4459 Thanks for your insight! I know the materials but I meant for others who don't know. I think it's still sound advice to start from the weakest bond necessary (including the tape) more because it's hard to get good torque on a hihat rod. Even a weaker bond could be a pain to remove for some ppl!

    Hey Justin great vid!! Question; I notice your VH-11 setup has a decent amount of “travel” up/down space. I have the VH-11 and set it up via instructions in manual which only allows for very little travel space. It definitely doesn’t feel natural this way. Kind of “stiff”. It tracks just fine with SD3, EZ Drummer2. Do you find any triggering issues with the way you have it set up? Thanks!

Thanks, Justin

    Hi Justin. I was wondering when you would compare these. I currently am using the TD-11 Module and was looking at upgrading from my VH-11 to VH-10. I found the feel of the VH-10 a bit well "Soft and Cheap Quality" compared to the more sturdy VH-11. However, the splashes were easier as the VH-10 is lighter. I kept the VH-11 as the older module seemed to work better with the VH-11. I am going to upgrade the module and I will be getting the VH-10 as it seemed to have better accurate triggering with the VH-10 on the TD-17 and 27 modules. The Hi-Hat is still a far cry from a real acoustic Hi-Hat and I would love to see Roland actually take a stab at a real 2 piece hi-that that feels proper. On a side note, the digital ride and snare are just awesome! I always hated the hotspot with positional sensing on the modules. I stuck with the TD-11 module as I am using the PD-128s Snare. The digital snares positional sensing is great. Great vid as always keep em' coming!

      rob1 the Vh-11’s are more responsive and play better with the triggering, it registers faster than the Alesis Strike Pro SE, but at the end of the day it’s it’s still has a limited trigger point vs real hi-hats. Hi, Justin! Love your channel! Question-I just bought a VH-10 and have one question to ask to make sure my hats aren’t defective. When clamped to the hi hat rod, which is tightened well and doesn’t turn, if I hold the edge of the hat and gently try to move it side to side laterally, it isn’t fixed in position but moves either way about an inch or inch and a half. Does mine have too much play laterally? Or is that normal?
    I know this may sound silly, but my VH-10 doesn’t seem to be very accurate and I’m wondering if the play I notice is a clue that they have a manufacturing defect.

    At this very moment I'm using a TD50 with a VH10. I initially bought it in combination with the TD17. It's a pretty good hihat experience and in my opinion better than the VH11 because of the reduced weight. Since I already experienced the VH13 with a TD30 and a TD50 I will definitely upgrade to a (maybe used) VH13 sooner or later because it plays better and feels more natural.
    That said: For under 500€/€ VH10 all the way, but if you have the TD30 or TD50 and don't mind the added noise emission: Get a used VH13.

    Hey Justin, since you are THE crack on Roland Drumbrains, i could need a lil advice with my TD20. I have a custom Ride Cymbal with two seprate Piezo sensors. One for the bow and one for the bell. Problem is, that on the TD20 i can´t set a threshhold for the Bell seperately. So soemtimes when i play a pattern on the bow and if i hit a lil harder the bell is triggered. What can i do about this? cheers, Mark

    You did not trick me. I recognized the metal bottom part of the controller and aluminum colored calibration wheel on top of the hats. Nice try though.

    Think the vh 10 is worth the money to upgrade from the cy5? and use cy5 as splash maybe :)

    How do the vh-11 and vh-10 compared to the atv hi hats? I ask because i read on vdrum forums (i think) some guy went back to his vh-11 from the atv so i'm wondering if the vh-11 is better than the atv or not. Also i'm thinking about upgrading my vh-11 to an atv hi hat so this is part of my research.

    one more question, is ROLAND TME-6 (Trigger Midi Convert) compatible with Roland TD-3 will both work together and you use more pads with both devices with more different sounds assigned to different pads that are connected to TMC-6.??????????????????????????????/

    Its interesting. You VH10 has a different colored part than mine. The knurled nut that you can adjuston the clutch on yours is a dark black. Mine is a silver metal like the rest of the clutch. I wonder why that changed.

    I cannot loosen the plastic ball on my VH-10, its like permanently tightened. And when I try to close the pedal I hear a metal noise making contact under the cymbal. Idk if the cymbal is completely done or if its something else

    Is it normal that I have to step down on my hi hat pedal pretty hard in order to trigger the “chick” from hitting the hi hat? The best way to describe it would be the sound if you had it as Fixed 1 from the Muffling menu. I’m curious if it’s issues with my stand or the hi hats themselves. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    My VH10 doesn't seem to close all the way, no matter how I set the clutch. I press down really hard with my foot, but don't get that tight "snap" when hitting the tip of the hi hat. Any ideas how to fix this? I have adjusted the td17 and it shows the hi hat below the close threshold but still can't get it perfect. Any ideas how to adjust this?

    Now. I'm curious I ordered just the hi hat/clutch will it work through my td kd 17 with just the normal stand that it came with just upgrading from the hi hat 5 that was on it. Not using a hihat stand. Btw it's the vh 11 that I'm getting.

    Our church just bought a TD17 KVX and I am not very happy with the response of the hi-hats (VH10). I did the calibration etc, but it seems really hard to get quick "open" accents on the hats (can't get the response like you do at 5:55). I also adjust the plastic part you spin on top of the cymbal to no avail. Any suggestions?

      shady xyz I haven’t used the vh 11, I’m not the biggest fan of the vh 10, I’ve calibrated it as best as I can, sometimes opening and closing isn’t that accurate, I’ve read its cause the lower end kits lack what’s called transmuting. I would give the vh 11 a go

    can you use the VH11 controller with VH10 pad?

    • @TylerHNothing
      @TylerHNothing 3 года назад

      for context, playing on a TD25 and the VH11 top pad broke (I think it's a sensor issue, I opened it up and it didn't need reglued or anything). I am buying a VH10 to replace but you mentioned there's no preset for it. I'm wondering if I use the VH11 controller with Vh10 pad if I would get good performance
