I've been rocking a beard since 2004. The day I decided to really grow it out and it started to get long ,90% of my coworkers would call me terrorist or tell me I should shave it. Even Human Resources tried to tell me to shave it. Lol, my boss called Human Resources and gave them an earful about how they have no right to tell me to shave my beard. My wife loves it and my kids love it so no one else's opinion matters.
That is actually one of the whole reasons our company exists, to change the way society views beardsmen.
It's definitely an uphill battle, but there's been a lot of progress made. People seem to be more and more accepting of beards. That's great to hear that you stuck through it and have continued to rock your beard!
Keep on Growing!
- Jack
Bro, the full beard is one of the last things men can do to claw back some masculinity from an emasculated and PC world. No one is telling me to shave my beard. Women seem to notice me more with a full but decently trimmed beard, too! Secretly, women like a masculine man who does what he wants and doesn't pander to moody women.
Coool Breeez ya,, I agree.. the word terrorist comes instant to someone's mind when they see a beard, the looks which people give you of suspicion ....
Coool Breeez You're lucky man because most employers would almost never allow an employee to grow his beard! I guess your workplace is the exception.
Allahu akbar ... lol
7. Smoking 6. Drinking 5. Depression 4. Pressure from loved ones/bosses 3. Barbers 2. Beard Trimmers 1. Ignorance
smoking does nothing to your beard. that's such a myth
@@Noctifern well i know he was prbly talking about cigs, but all my friends that smoked weed from 14-now (23) have patchy stoner beards. cigs will just be bad for every cell in your body, but hairs already dead so as long as its there nothing would happen.
I once had this super hot girlfriend and unfortunately she made me chose between my beard and her, i still miss her sometimes.
Good man.
Your a savage hahaha
If it comes between a potential gf and my beard I'd do the same.
I have a picture on Facebook that says that about Dip it had me rolling 💀
Hurley Cape town 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I'm 71. I've had LOTS of beards over the years. I'm growing it back now using good grooming techniques. I've been told in the past that my beard is pretty good. Looking forward to seeing what it will be like when I actually take proper care of it.
Ever since I started growing beard I got promoted at work as my boss who is a woman thinks I am a confident man. Luckly I got genetics of thick long beard. Beard is for life now.👍
Honey Badger don't care
One dislike within a minute. Someone doesn't like me.
Eric Bandholz 2 dislikes already! Must be a competitor 😉
Yea
Eric Bandholz You're such an inspiration to me.... love from India.
Eric Bandholz it's probably the user Barry Mclaughlin, this child lives to be toxic.
But only on the internet ofc, IRL he's too afraid to talk to people :)
Hey speaking of barbers, you got a recommendation in NYC?
Your videos are the what made me start taking care of my beard properly, and it's never looked healthier.
Props to you guys, sincerely,
- My beard.
Eric and the rest of the Beardbrand team are great inspirations to all beardsmen! Thank you so much for your support and keep on growing!
- Jack
P D S wait,so your beard has a beard?
ChrisHPlayer My beard's beard has a beard as well.
P D S nice
CJ Of course u don't, princess.
Honorable mention: Women! lol
If a woman tells me I have to shave my beard. I tell her she has to leave my house.
lol
If a woman wants you to shave your beard, and you actually do it, you deserve neither! Why would you change yourself? Would never do it, for ANYONE!
let me it all you a little story she wanted it gone and I even agreed I would lose my beard but if I had to change a grooming habit she had to do one two and shave her bush off need less to say I was in the five finger motel a week later
my girl won't let me cut my beard :D even if i wanted
I have a love/ hate for this channel. While giving expert advice and tips on all things beard, it makes me realise my beard is so trash in comparison
Is there anyway to make my beard thicker or fuller? Any balms or lotions or is it just time and genetics
Average Gamer jamaican black castor oil
As of 2017, there aren't any scientifically proven balms, oils, or pills to make your beard grow in thicker. ruclips.net/video/HsiZnZ4pYz0/видео.html
Average Gamer if you're 30+ you're fucked
Average Gamer how old are you? Might gotta wait until you're older and see if it gets thicker
My beard looks ok... this channel is keeping me going through the awkward stage at work
You forgot #8. Young kids running in the bathroom and bumping Daddy while trimming and taking a huge wedge out. Solution..... Lock all doors before grooming!!! Just chopped a 7 monther because of this!!!
italo512 Ouch! Ditch the clippers and only use scissors to trim the beard
MrTShbib yeah, at least after I sever my jugular, id still have the beard!! Hahaha. Next go round brother!! Thanx
Damn man
A better solution is prophylactics.
Birth control ☺ 👉👌
I have twice shaved my beard eight months into trying to grow a "yeard". Both times it was very spontaneous and both times I regretted it immediately. Anytime you think you might want to shave your beard, give it at least a week before you do it. You'll be surprised how quickly your perspective can change.
That depression one is one i actually have gone through on some level. i was 16 and was dumped by my first girlfriend. ive beenable to get a nice beard going for a while, and that night i got dumped i took most of it off and tried the goatee for a few months. im back to full beard now but yeah, changing your appearance is a common thing to go through in a bad breakup, and beards are real easy to change in just a couple minutes.
Such ironic timing, the parents are splitting up as I found out Monday, so this helped me from going to deep of a slump. Thanks for the tips again Eric!!
Sorry to hear about your parents man. Hang in there and things will brighten up over time. Keep on growing!
The number one reason is what killed my beard the most... I've subscribed to this channel and will now educate myself on how to grow and maintain a healthy beard. Thanks guys!
I have grown my beard for fifteen months. I had it shaped once, the least length taken off as possible. Due to a financial hard time I have not been able to reup my BeardBrand shampoo, conditioner and oil. I plan on buying the entire beardsman box (Old Money) by Christmas.
Truly like the product. Thank you!
Then why do homeless men have great beards. genetics > everything
Genetics absolutely play a big factor in growing a beard, but one of the most important things to keep in mind is time. A beard is a commitment and takes a lot of patience/care.
- Jack
My man you got it. It's all genetics.
Some of the worst beards I have seen are on homeless men
Keyboardbeatz : Interesting point, Their beards only look good from far away because of all the oil in their beards from not showering much, and there outside all the time causing the beards to get more sunlight which helps them grow.
100% genetics. Best beards I've ever seen NEVER do anything to take care of it. Most don't even brush.
I started growing my beard when I got depressed, went on letting grow while being depressed and kept it after I got OK in my head again. Killing the beard would make me depressed again (at least I fear so), so I'll fight for it.
Kinda sound like Ray Romano lol love it 😂
Lol
I'll never unhear that now
Thought the same thing lol
Haha fuck, I hear it now
I will take this advice to heart. Will stop me stop wrecking my beard every single time.
Never had a problem with family or friends about my beard always been people at work or random females saying " I would look cuter without the beard " or " look younger " but I'm 40 and i look like I'm in my late 20's early 30's with my beard not going to shave because of what people think i should do! My body my face and my beard!!! I'm 4 months into my Yeard and love the way my beard looks....Beard on!!! 😊❤🤘
Totally agree. Grew the beard after a divorce. The beard gave me some easy short term goals and a hobby...also a fresh look!!!
Beardbrand is what has helped keep my beard alive, all of the tips and inspiration are wonderful. Especially when I committed to growing a yeard. I never once thought about shaving until I reached 12 months of growth.
SCOGANHORSE Love getting comments like this! We're really glad to hear that!
- Jack
I always shortened my beard because I didn't know how I could have straightened it properly. It's better now thanks to this channel and my local barber.
What has killed my beard so far is wanting to let it grow in a certain style, and then changing my mind on the style after a while.
About a month ago I thought about growing my beard for a bit to see how well it would do for a month and maybe more, and I actually did do that for almost a month, though.
So now I have my typical style with a goatee (although my moustache and bear aren't really "connected" yet) and sideburns, and now I hope to see how that'll grow.
All those factors make sense ...beard on!
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for your comment. Beard on indeed!
I’m a beginner at growing my Beard and for the people who think it is ironic to took look in the mirror for a period of time , let me just say we’re not obsessed we’re proud of who we are! That’s how life should be. You gotta love yourself👌🏽, Don’t let the devil decide for you!
“I made a mistake
The beard is no longer there”
Lol
I regularly get lots of positive comments on my beard ( 6 months growth) and I credit them all to Beardbrand products ( I use the Old Money oil daily and the Old Money balm 2x per week) and to these awesome videos. I have had a beard, though a short one requiring little care, for 14 years but in March I decided to really grow it out beyond a 1/2 inch for the first time. Clearly this was going to start requiring care products and know how on my part. Beardbrand has been a key factor in that journey and I thank you all for that. Keep on Growing!!
I love reading comments like this as that's what we strive to do. Thank you so much for sharing and definitely keep on growing! :D
Thanks Eric. I''m in Greg Berzinsky mode at the moment, wish I could get my beard quite as straight as his. I have a few more curls than he does but we are in the same age group. Nevertheless your products are top shelf and help me get my beard where I want it to be.
Indeed. A short (1/2 inch or less) neatly trimmed beard is all most of us that work in corporate environments could ever get away with without pushing the edges of so-called "acceptability" limits on beards. But thanks to folks like Eric and others, those limits are changing and long beards, still properly cared for mind you, are becoming more and more accepted in the urban workplace. Just FYI my beard now measures 4 inches in length. {:->>>>
At the time of this comment being posted I am 24 years old, never let me facial hair grow out for more than a week. Recently went through some really hard times and just like our boy said here I decided to let it grow out. Woot woot for patchy beards!
I can totally relate to #4 - grew out my beard for a good 7-8 weeks and went to one of the top rated barber shop in the area to get it finally styled to what i wanted. Needless to say, he totally botched it and then some. I'm growing it out again and this time round, I'll be extra careful at picking my barber. If i feel i cant rely on any in my area, ill just take care of my beard myself.
My basketball coach always wanted us to look clean. He would make us shave our beard and trim your hair if it touched your ears. After I tore several ligaments in my knee and couldn't play he would let me. It was bullshit I had to shave at all.
When i lost my parents at a young age meaning them young as well as myself early 20s and losing both back to back bith from cancer i pretty much stopped living life no socialization no more job stopped going to work and just was depressed severely i grew a long knarly beard after not shaving for a couple years so i agree with u eric its possible btw love the channel bro
Eric your hair looks really awesome this way. Killin' it with this look.
what about caffine
1) Coffee (i dont drink it personally)
2) Tea
3) Chocolate
i dont do the 4 below,
what about Hard Drugs
Vaping
Pipe (Shisha & Hookah)
what about, Marijauna (Recreational & Medical)
Do a video on what to say to a barber for a beard trim.
Jesus Rios That depends on what you want.
Say no
Is it ever TOO LATE to start taking care of your beard properly because you WERE ignorant? I'm on month 4 and definitely have not been doing it the right way. Feels like steel wool, quite curly. If I start taking care of it now could it possibly get healthy or do I need to shave it and start over?
It's not too late to start taking care of your beard man. No need to start over. Just start taking those steps to take better care of it. Your beard will definitely get healthier over time. Beard on brother!
-Josh
Beardbrand Whew! Dodged a bullet. Thanks!
Patrick Gerald Wayne bet mine is worse lol
Actually I did tell a friend that I didnt know how, and it got itchy and I just shaved. He gave me a crash course in maintaining a beard and I went for it. Its awesome.
I trim mine on a regular basis, and sometimes, like right now, there is a bit that has gone too short, instead of evening it out, I let it grow back in.
Getting feedback from others has taught me that other people don't notice the errors that I can see. The key is to not over analysis your beard, stick to your plan and execute that in a trim.
Peace beard lovers!
Great insight and thanks for sharing your experiences. I agree with your strategies and techniques. Keep on growing!
100% of my beard fatalities have been the result of overzealous scissor trimming. I take too much off so I keep pruning away to even things out until everything's almost completely gone.
P.S. I'm diggin' that more minimalist black T-shirt look you've been sporting lately, Eric. I dress like that almost every day. #notagoth
Trimming your own hair can definitely be tricky.
Greg Berzinsky actually just made a video that might help you out with future DIY beard trims:
Be Your Own Barber: DIY Beard Trim

Hope that helps!
- Jack
Thanks man. It's part of my style overhaul goal for the quarter. Less is more. I've not been big on black on black, but I think it kinda works for me.
It's a good look for you!
Eric Bandholz black on black works for you brotha, as it does on almost anyone.
megagene : I do THE SAME THING!, except i use an electic trimmer, because it starts looking scraggaly, and i try to even it out too, lets figure out how to stop this and and grow nice smooth looking beards, us bearded men gotta stick together, we can do this! #BEARDNATION , #Beardbrand.
I learned my lesson about hair stylists. I made an appointment with an "award winning" beard stylist. Get up there, he's doing a good job, then his buddy comes in needing a shaping and a hair cut. DUUUUUDE... the stylist just decides to shift gears and FLIES through the rest of my beard. It was soooo messed up. I had about a 6 month beard. When I got home I had to trim it down to a 3 month beard!!!!! I don't hold on to anger thankfully. But I will never let anyone else touch my beard again. I do a decent job myself (see my profile pic/avatar).
Red_Bearded_Dad This happened to me too almost exactly. A month or two ago my barber butchered half my beard off, even though the time before he trimmed it perfectly. Now I learned my lesson. Either do it yourself or tell your barber to only use scissors to tidy/shape up the beard. Clippers can really fuck your beard up when in the wrong barbers hands.
Red_Bearded_Dad looks good
barbers ruin beards. learn DIY methods or forever be disappointed
Great video. I'm pretty sure this was in one take, no jump cuts. Very impressive. I laughed because I'm actually growing my beard out as a result of a break up and depression. You hit home with that one.
A barber messed up my beard more than once. The last time, he took off one of my handlebars while leaving the beard and stache too long on the other side. It was one of those places that doesn't make appointments and has shitty hours and a wait list, so I found a better barber that I can make appointments with. More expensive, but worth it.
Yo Eric,
I also just wanted to touch on the subject of a possible number 8 beard killer, thus being the general public!, having an abnormally long beard aside from the usual close crop variety of beard definitely draws a lot of attention from the general public. Some attention is positive and some not so much. I'm my experience 70/30, 30 being negative. In my 2.5 years of growing a mighty beard I have had my fair share of being stared at, pointed at, told to shave by random folks, and even laughed at- my point of mentioning this is that these days can most definitely bring a man down mentally and left feeling like the only option is to rid of the infliction causing the negative feedback and wanting chop the crop. I have experienced this many times, and just felt it was worth a mention to potentially let other beardsmen know that you aren't alone and to hell with the narrow minded negative people. Beard on brothers
Yeah, the peer pressure from strangers and even close friends can be a huge beard killer. It can hurt, and bring you down if you let it get to you. That goes back to your mental state being a beard killer. A few things that can fight against the general public are:
Focus on how your beard makes you feel. It's on your face after all, so it should only matter how you feel. Then remember that we'll always love your beard, no matter what! Keep on growing, Alan G!
-Josh
Thanks for sharing and I think Josh shared some very insightful words about how to handle it. Best of luck and keep on growing!
Very well said Eric. You covered all factors that destroy our love (beard).

Beardbrand i think this guy up ask for a job. 😂😂
Beardbrand
do masturbation effect beard growth
patchiness killed mine, just recently shaved it and decided to start over, but this time i am more well educated about so thanks for all the tips man!
You and me both 😂
I do that too when im frustrated and see my patchiness
That was me my freshman year of college, 5 years later I've started my 2nd serious attempt and after only 2 months the patchiness problems are a lot less troubling
When I was growing out a beard for the first time, I tried to trim my beard because I wanted to go out at night. I ended up cutting into my beard and having to shave it off completely
I get drunk and trim my beard all the time.. Its the only time I feel confident enough. I only fucked it up once
Damn you man, making my #6 rendered invalid. :D
You are brave.
Elijah, one bloke to another. I ain't going to tell you not to get drunk. But, before you do, hide the scissors and the beard trimmer!!!
Just loved your beard balm buddy.... Thanxx a lot brotha!
Something a lot of guys do while their beard is growing is touch it or stroke it. This is fine occasionally I suppose but a habbit like this can make you lose hairs and put unwanted oils in your beard. It's best to just leave it alone and let it grow.
What has killed my beard time after time is unsatisfaction. I have quite a few patches, and the worst ones I only see myself, apparently. So now I have started my beard journey with a company called Cph Grooming from which I bought a product that awakens the dormant hair in your face, and it has even won a price for best trials in 2017. One should see small white hairs come out in 3 weeks or so and a major difference in 150 days.
I shaved off my beard because it was too patchy. I have very thick hair on my cheeks and I can grow a good mustache but the just under my lip to the left and right of the souls patch wouldn't grow anything so it made my beard look weird.
Sounds a lot like mine, my mustache doesn't completely connect either but growing it a little longer helps to hide that. You should grow your beard out to a full 2" at least and see how it looks from there. It was the right decision for me so maybe you'd be happy with yours if it looked longer.
Jay x 2K those parts that have no hair or little hair, shave them everyday to twice a day with a blade. the more you shave it the faster it grows. all those fine invisible hairs are still there. shave em like they exist.
I've heard that some who suffer from bare or near-bare patches can be helped with minoxidil (Rogaine).
I don't have that particular problem, but some spots grow faster than others, and I'm sure it's like that for everyone. So some trimming every few weeks is in order, not too shorten it, but to even it. Do not trim too often, nor too much - just reduce the fastest growth zones so the rest can catch up.
Nicky Wicks hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha NO
Pas bingo monsieur 'Bunco' worked for me bitches haha. now fuck off
Hey Eric. I saw you on "Shark Tank" on CNBC. I think you were judged unfairly.
Spartan Film Works panel were snobbish and clean shaving yuppies
I was pleased with the interaction. Love maintaining our independence. They just didn't see the vision. Been dealing with that since day one.
Eric Bandholz and u be provin it man, I would invest without thinking twice
Not really. They’re close minded business people and in their world hardly anyone has facial hair so they assume that speaks for the entire male demographic.
They missed out! I’ve worn a beard for about 10 yrs. And even though I discovered Beardbrand years afterward, your videos and website have been invaluable. Your products have brought my beard game up big time!
Explained to the barber I was going for an interview thus needed a little clean up, he proceeded to take like 50% was devastated...nailed the job though :D
I'm surprised you didn't mention indecisiveness. I know there are plenty of guys out there, myself included, can never fully commit to the style of the beard. How should I shape it? Full growth, goatee, chops? That also leads into patience. Decide on your style, wait out the growth!
I really enjoyed the video. Keep them coming!
Ya, I think that's a good one too. Thanks for sharing it!
All beards matter. ✊🏼😤💪🏼💪🏼
I've been a welder for 20 years, let me tell you, there's nothing more dangerous to a beard than heavy welding work. Non-stop Sparks flying, flames blowing, just plain old fricken danger for hair anywhere, especially on your face. it's a full time job just to keep from burning your face off. CHILDREN don't grow up to be welders, parent's don't let your babies grow up to be welders... no shit, really it's one of the WORST fucking jobs on the planet. And it doesn't pay the way it did back in Glory days. At all.
Oh geez, just the thought of that sounds incredibly dangerous for a beard!
- Jack
Nope. No further reasons i can see. I am growing my beard for the third time. First time, i shaved it off out of depression. Second time, i shaved it because the trimmer got some attitude 😂. And now, rocking an 8 month beard without issues so far. Hoping to achieve my yeard once and for all. 💪🏻. Keep the good work
This is a "love letter" to cigarette smokers to try a pipe. You can smoke a pipe as nicotine replacement just like a patch. There are so many upsides to piping, and the #1 being no worry of lung damage. Pipe smokers live longer, healthier lives than other smokers. It's also a gentlemanly vice, and you likely wont get shunned for it (I don't).
If I can smoke and drink what's the point of a beard?
colin kuykendall you mean if you cant
Drinking and smoking suck. Having a beard does not. Priorities.
Oopsie Poopsie Found the 5 year old lol.
@@S3TO1234 V cool priorities; I lift and read too-V cool
You forgot. The wife doesn't like it and makes you shave or she says you look to old with a beard. The real silent killer 😂😂
FIGHTING - I had a 2 year-old beard and got in a scuffle with a dude. While I was applying a "Hillbilly Handshake," He ripped out a few fist fulls. (a "Hillbilly Handshake" is when you pick someone up by their neck.) I inspected the remains and saw no follicles, nor could I find any bald spots. It appeared as if the wiskers had broken off. I kept the beard for a few weeks but was not happy with the uneven results, so I shaved it.
Depression IS a beard killer, thank you for saying so. The worst thing is after I shaved my 4 monther (that drew positive comments) I didn't like the way I looked and felt worse.
I decided to grow my beard after a breakup. Im not going back!
Beards.... The best things to come from bad relationships. :D

I used to wash my beard with a face wash while growing a chin strap for almost 8 weeks. It only led to getting more acne underneath it. I was fed up, so I shaved it off.
Goddamn itchy beards. I was ignorant when I first started growing it, and the itchiness made it was incredibly tempting to shave it off. But after a few weeks, and making sure to take care of it, it finally passed.
Yoj has more beard than hair lol great video
Thanks!

Hahahahahahah chutiya spotted
Also looking in the mirror too closely!
Oh ya, that's a good one. Should have added that. We are all our own worst critics.
jdrstvnbk that is so damn true
This happened to me like a week ago, too critical about my cheek line, fucked it up a bit and ended up shaving it off. Back to square one.
There is a very common perception and a beard killer is going to a job interview fully shaved. Many occassions when you are switching jobs and when there is lot if aspirations at stake, I ve seen people shave off, go to interviews, when they dont get selected they get double depressed bout losing the job and the beard.
Since I don't get a tremendous huge-ass beard like yours, I tend to just experiment so a lot of trimming, cutting in certain ways and stuff. But the style that I like the most in me is when I just let it grow indefinitely, even when it gives me a certain taliban-esque look!
Listening I realize how true things are .. drinking and depression, and acting on impulse go hand in hand, in hand.
Eric, you're my favorite source of beard info'-so knowledgeable, forthright, humble, sharing … Keep up the great stuff. Thanks again for sharing!♥
Drunk and trimming have gotten me a few times😂
I read everyone on the comments and other videos writing about growing a beard from their late 20s and up. It looks like I will be one of the few being a 19 year old aiming for a viking beard. Week 6 and my only weak spot are the sideburns for now. But hey... This is barely week 6, I still have ton of time!
My barber damaged my beard with a blow dryer and caused scarring, I curse him everyday as all my confidence has gone
This is the first time I've taken this guy seriously, and it's because he actually has a decent beard in this video.
You missed picking at it. My main problem. I get to feeling split ends or knots and I start picking at it. Sometimes I don't even notice I'm doing it.
Im a 17 year old guy that wants to grow a beard but every time I deside to not shave I get concious about what other people may think and I end up shaveing.
Getting too hot is a main reason too, its just too hot in sunny weather or doing sports, especially when your hair is thick
Damn, depression made me shave my beard yesterday.
This was absolutely NOT what I expected, yet I 100% agree. As a barber I have heard all 7.
Had a huge beard in winter a few years ago, i was doing some steel work with a forge and leaned too close, burnt about 5 inches right off the chin before i could react and snuff it out. Not a total loss but i did have to trim it way down to make it even again. Sad day.
I have OCD. So that's a good ole package if anxiety, depression, etc. Sometimes I feel ugly, and I wanna shape and trim, but go too far to turn back, and the beard is gone. My face is still growing hair in new places, although it's coming in thick, it just looks out of place and makes my face look dirty. I think too much about it.
Using the wrong kind of comb/brush and not using beard balm on your beard has a detrimental effect. I've recently started using a comb made from horn instead of plastic and also regular apllication of beard balm and it's already feeling and looking better after only a few weeks.
Most all of my beard mishaps have been do to a barber/stylist not being up to snuff on beard maintenance. A few have been my fault...over trimming, being dumb and not using the right guard etc...It's taken a while to find an actual barber that is capable of taking care of beards. On the plus side, my bathroom sink no longer looks like a Yeti shed all over it.
In counter, the bad barber (and a bit of the mentioned depression) was actually the Start of mine. 6 month goatee got hacked into right before attending a friend's wedding. I had to take it down to less than 1/2" to even it up. Survived another barber mishap this past May, but I'm over a year now, with about that year worth of growth. Love your products, and your videos.
Side note: Eric, you're like my beard twin. These big wavy curls can be a pain in the ass, can't they? LoL.
Beard on.
My beard got killed a few times just by insecurity.. Mine is growing slow and not really thick on the sides.. And then I was looking at those legends like Ricki Hall who got the most amazing beard of course. His grows fast, it looks perfect and then you start wondering.. 'what am i doing wrong'
You covered it really well Eric . When in doubt or iffy just give it several days . Don't do anything unless you're clear headed . Bad Beard Days happen and go away , its reality . Everything will look like a beard model for a few days then here comes Mr Wonky . Good vid .
Yeah last time I went into the barber I told him I was just growing it out, then he proceeded to still shave half of my sideburns off and too much of my neck, almost killed it, but it was pretty new so I just kept growing it and saved it
This came up on my recommended. Clicked just out of curiosity. Think I'll sub and stay 'cause your voice is really relaxing

Yep, hit No2. Beard trimmer on wrong setting, ended up with a strip of bald skin on side of face. Had to take it all off and start all over again. Months of growth down the sink!
I tried to trim my beard once, gee....25 yrs. ago (?), squared off the chin....looked like animation character from Dire Straits Money for Nothin' video, so naturally the whole thing ended up in the sink. That, once for work & I think one other time were my unforgiving moments. In 2010 I took it down to a goatee. My wife initially liked it, said I had toooo much face, that was in '82, (beards are also good for hiding pockmark scars) but my head is shaved now & personally, & full beard leading to a chrome dome looks weird. My opinion now. Loved having one, & would recommend any guy to grow one if possible.
I'm genuinely surprised how unconventional the things listed are. Very existential, I always imagined it would just be things like dying, blow drying, combing with the wrong products, poor diet, etc., but I never would've considered things like depression, bosses and alcoholism.
Great video.
Ayuwoki!!!
So many gold nuggets of advice here. Love this channel and your content. Thank you.
I think what's helped killed my "beard" especially, is the unwillingness to go out and deal with the public having messy, patchy, uneven, unsymmetrical facial hair at best. I would trim the hell out of the longer few odd hairs that grew just fine to match length of the small hairs that only just came in, realizing I wasn't making any progress constantly keeping it at a small length for the sake of being only partially more presentable in public.
I made the mistake of shaving my 5 mos+ minox beard down to just a goatee, about 2 mos ago, but kept going with minox. Vellus hairs have barely grown, since, so I'm back to big patches again evn tho I'm 10 days away from 7 straight months on minox. Beard used to give a very good impression of being full. So sad *tears*...
I was hospitalised nov last year, I was in a coma and on life support, can you believe the hospital staff shaved off half my beard.... They said it was to save my life... My 6yr old son was the only one game enough to tell me... But he said it was okay because it was to save my life lol he was really concerned that they shaved it half off..... Lol he told me a week after coming out of the coma....... Lol I gave the medical staff a pretty hard time about it, all in good fun...
I'm #5.. it's kinda crazy how you said it in this video.. I'm growing my beard out and I'm in a really depressed stage of my life, and I wanna do better and look better for myself.. I just came across your videos today..
Glad you found us! Things may be rough right now, but just always remember, "this too shall pass".
And hey, if you enjoy having a beard nowadays, rock that style, man!
If you ever have anymore questions or thoughts, we're here! Keep on growing!
