Looks a bit cheap compared to the veneer IMO.
I guess it could be like satin finishes - take a trend that saves money in production and promote it.

Gibson is probably doing a little market research… how fast does a particular configuration sell versus asking price… otherwise how would Gibson know where the line is? 😂

That 1967 Flying V reissue was an abandoned Made 2 Measure. They talk about it in the description.

They have had the ebony block available for a while in the gibson website. It is an exclusive tho, they also have the standard with the block

@@Trog Just learned today (after watching your video) that the ebony block SG was actually spec'd out by Mark Agnesi as part of a set of 8 GIbson exclusives that came out Feb. 1st. Apparently there will be more in the future as well, spec'd by different leaders at Gibson (like Gueikian , Koehler, etc)

Holy cat's pajamas you're pointing out flaws and they are asking super premium prices for the stuff they're cool looking and all and I had a Gibson Les Paul Custom back in the late 80s but now that their prices have just gone completely insane they're just not worth it and they're too heavy on top of that

From personal experience it was a lot harder to find a roller bridge for an abr1, lots of options for Nashville bridge

What’s going on with the strings between the Bigsby and the bridge on that Les Paul. They’re all over the place! Bet that won’t stay in tune
They just get caught underneath the bar they loop under. It's no big deal. You can fix it while stringing.
Hey Trogly! why cant we get p94's straight from Gibson anymore? They are putting them in these MOD shops..?? I had one in a hollowbody guitar, and it was very very sweet. I would like to get my hands on a set or a few individuals.

My favorite was that Heritage Cherry SG Standard in the UK demo shop with the black and red pickup covers and amber knobs, sharp! The 62 SG Les Paul Custom with ebony block was sharp but too much money at $9K yikes!
I've always wanted a guitar with a mahogany neck and a flame maple scarf joint headstock where they make it look like a flame maple stinger

I have been watching a lot of vids lately, and frankly, if the the guitar isn’t being played it’s not an instrument. If it sits under a bed or in a closet, you don’t need it. 8k for a player? Gibson has lost direction.

P90/HB combo is godly and not seen enough!
Yes it solves the bassy muddy front pickup issue.
@@sirbaronvoncount4147 I would argue that the P90 in the neck of my 335 has the biggest bass response of all my guitars - It's no so much the bass which makes things muddy, but a lack of clarity, and the P90 brings clarity in spades 😅👍

Actually, that’s very close to the 68’s that Tom Scholz owns. (Both of which are 1968 models, made within weeks of each other, no less!)
Gibson aint intersted in selling they are into Braging .

Gibson needs to come out with a guitar like a Martin backpacker guitar.
That '61 SG is a perfect example of why the vintage market needs to go. No matter how classic an instrument model is, it shouldn't cost as much as a house or a car. Meanwhile, those Flying V's remind me that I had an open opportunity to get a '67 reissue when I was a teenager (back in the late 90s when they cost less than $1,000 USD before taxes) and did not take it.

Loving that new studio modern, they need to do more crazy colours (ugly) on them in the mod shop.
The 80s Flying V Mystical Vortex has a Flip Flop finish with color shifting effect from blue/green to purple. Not well presented with this pictures. The EU team does a much better job here.

Trogley, could you do a video on the open book headstock. It's seems to me there are several variations. My favorite is wide at the top skinny at the bottom.. would that be the 80's ?

These are showpieces. Art to hang on a wall and brag about by collectors. I dare say most gigging musicians aren’t buying these up and playing them at their venues. They sure are pretty to look at but not practical for many of us.
