Your taste in guitars baffles me. This piece was *made* to be put on display. It belongs in a museum (Any aspiring curators out there?). Think of it this way: in another 20 years it may be impossible to source the natural materials to create such an instrument. Keep it.
I always say it . I'm a sucker for quilt. I never knew I would be a sucker for natural quilt. Meaning not tinted. It's something straight from heaven. They could have left the fretboard alone and it still would be a jaw-dropper jaw dropper!
This 2014 Crimson Custom Ultima is an exquisite example of Gibson skill. Perfect as presented, the gorgeous natural quilt, the sweet abalone purfling, and that Tree of Life fretboard is my favourite of the choices. I'd be expecting this to stay in your collection as a showcase piece, but I see you're offering it for sale. Oh well.
That quilt top is amazing. It looks 3D. The abalone everywhere kind of reminds me of a Martin D-45. On another subject, I don't get the richlite hate. I have an acoustic guitar with a richlite fretboard and bridge. At least to my ears, it doesn't adversely affect the tone of the guitar. Richlite seems pretty durable too. The guitar is almost 20 years old, and there's no visible wear on the fretboard. If the guitar is a high end custom order, I can understand wanting to have a real wood fretboard. But if we're talking about a regular working musician's guitar, I don't see richlite being an issue, as long as the guitar sounds like you want it to sound.
Well, IMO, that is one of the best Gibson guitars I have ever seen. My only two changes, no inlay and let the Ebony do its best Ebony thing, and no fret nibs. Thanks for sharing this one!
IMO it's one of the best Les Pauls I have ever seen. LOVE the quilt, I prefer it much more than flame. The abalone binding is nice and the inlay work is really done well.
Oh I LOVE the abalone perfling on this guitar and I love how much gorgeous maple is used in this guitar. The quilting is top notch. I really like pretty much everything about this guitar, except the busy fretboard inlays. I know some people like the heavy inlays on the fretboard but it’s not for me. I DO love the perfling on the back and the flame. The heel cap is an awesome addition with the abalone perfling. That one piece maple body is KILLER !! And that neck is off the charts outstanding. I am in love with the tone this guitar produces…beautiful tone for days !!
I don't hate the elaborate binding, and that woodgrain is to die for. Perhaps the complaints were that the binding design and the contour of the body, together, are a little bit - to alotta bit "busy." That neck doesn't help either. BUT I really like the body. Have you been listening to a lot of Clapton lately? Nice playing!
I'm not usually a fan of "Fancy" looking guitars, but that Les Paul is stunning, and the sound is luxurious. I agree the neck inlay is very busy, but beautiful. Nice Museum quality guitar will surely get many eyes ogling it.
As a custom builder I've never been keen on quilted maple like the top on that. There's something about quilting which weirds me out somehow. But that one is very, very nice. And I love the abalone binding, and the maple pickup rings. The back is even better! Les Pauls should really be maple necks anyway (IMHO). Because it's a stronger wood than mahogany and would save lots of headstock fractures. But the laminated flamed maple neck is superb. How rare is an entire BODY of flamed maple WITHOUT A CENTRE JOIN! Just one massive chunk of wood THAT wide. WOW! For me the 'tree of life' on the fretboard takes it over the top. And you can see on the headstock the round ends of the triangle abalone recesses in the headstock veneer, but the abalone is pointed. This is due to the routering needed for the inlay. It should have been finished off with a knife/chisel to take the ends of the triangles to a point, not just left round like that. But that aside I'm diggin this one big time!
Wow, that’s very impressive. Looking instrument. I have to say the middle was my favorite tone but that thing rips I would play the piss out of that day and night. Good luck with that one my friend. Congratulations. What a nice piece.
This one really is a unicorn. An all Maple Les Paul and ultra fancy, love it. I noticed the other one you showed us from Japan isn’t exactly the same, it had the flower pot inlay on the headstock so maybe all of the Crimson Div. are unique one offs even in some small way and not a small run. Thanks for showing us this special Guitar Austin.

Yo trogly Lv the all maple les Paul Sounds are the best you have … clear , bright , Perfect for what I do Rock , hard rock , blues Thx bro ..😎 enjoyed it Oho.. 0:02 I have an all flame maple Kramer including the neck , made by Gibson from 2014 …honey burst Strat style 2/ hum/ split coil…JB in the front/ back.. Great sound as well … Similar in tone … Lv that guitar 🎸 😎
Just a WOW machine! Bright sounding yes, however in a great way clean & distorted! IMO I've always been a sucker for natural & quilt is the cherry for me. I love it! I wouldn't play it a lot ONLY because I'd worry about scratching it. It's a ULTIMATE ULTIMA! Congrats it's sick!
I absolutely LOVE those art guitars! I have three Kevin Pederson guitars from the early 2000’s. Last Supper, Resurrection, and Crucifixion. They are so damn cool. Different theme and better produced than this Les Paul, but not a “name brand” so they will never have the value of this beauty you have! Loving your channel!
Man those guitars really are a beauty, so much flame and quilt and so much extra they remind me of the Ed Roman guitars. Truly beautiful Les Paul’s, definitely a true collector custom shop piece.
Gorgeous Maple used on this....and I love the Abalone inlay on the tops of guitars if done well. (I think the abalone on the back is a little "much". LOL!). The Vine inlay is a little overdone on this example IMHO. They should have only had the Abalone where the fretboard markers would normally be with the rest M.O.P..
Austin! You said bushings instead of studs! Are you ok?! That is some insane 3d quilt for sure. Holy smokes, that is one of the most beautiful Les Pauls I've ever seen. More like an art/craftsmanship guitar than something I'd play, though. But still amazing. It sounded really good too.
The bright tone is without doubt due to the maple body (and neck) rather than the softer/less dense mahogany. Right up my street! If it's too bright, you can just turn the tone knob down. That is what they're for after all.
That thing sounds pretty freakin good! I want to put a bb1 and bb2 in my 339. The 57 and 57+ sound great but the neck pup is a little thick for my liking. Does anybody know the thinking about putting unpotted BB's in a semi hollow? I'm not worried about feed back at all. I'm thinking the un potted pups will be micro phonic enough to pick up the hollow body flavors. Any thoughts?
best part of the video was not seeing the same old strap giving me anxiety.. you know the one.. Grolsch beer come in bottles with little red seals. get yourself a 4 pack
I do usually like a natural top Les Paul, but that one is too 'cocktail cabinet' for me. I prefer a combination of maple and mahogany for a LP body. Was expecting that one to be above average weight.
That thing is unbelievable! Sounds great too. I’ll never be able to afford one, and if I had one it would never leave the house, but wow, that thing is cool!
For years I have been sitting on a slab of quilted pillowed maple. Maybe it’s time to find a good luthier… Reminds me of a Rolex Presidente’ or a D45; just too over the top.

Keep it.
If Liberace was a guitar player...
he would have had a pink one.
The fret board is a bit too busy. I appreciate the craftsmanship in the fretboard, and body binding. Just not my dance….
Perfect description 😂
He’d have played a custom Zemaitis
Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!
16:30 Collective Soul - Shine
Nice riff choice, this axe really shines!
I always say it . I'm a sucker for quilt. I never knew I would be a sucker for natural quilt. Meaning not tinted. It's something straight from heaven. They could have left the fretboard alone and it still would be a jaw-dropper jaw dropper!
I also suck for quilt
Every night or just at the weekends?
Cant blame ya, its absolutely beautiful and i usually hate natural finishes
@@DS-nw4eq I don't love it so much that I would compromise my pie hole for a quilt, but you do you boo..
Love it, the fretboard is a bit too busy for my taste but still a great looking guitar
The "Harp" inlay at 2:09 is 125% too much, but I love it

24hr listing to tempt fate and gather attention for the video. I plan on keeping it as stated but this thing is too beautiful to not share! Haha
Those tones are exactly what look for in a Les Paul!

they only thing i heard and seen was "heaven let you're light shine down!" that song fits this guitar.

Id swap out the the volume and tones buttons and uncover the pickups. Like you said personal preference.
Wow
Some beautiful wood used for this one.
The L5S headstock inlay would have been a better match with the fretboard tho
Loved hearing the Collective Soul riff :)

Incredible sound!
Stunning guitar, to be honest. Really wants putting in a frame up on a wall 😉😉
Super clean tones! It’s the maple.
Yo trogly
Lv the all maple les Paul

Perfect for what I do
Rock , hard rock , blues

That quilt is soooo awesome sounds pretty darn good to 👏👍🤘

That headstock is perfect, that green and gold tan combo is perfecr
Man those guitars really are a beauty, so much flame and quilt and so much extra they remind me of the Ed Roman guitars. Truly beautiful Les Paul’s, definitely a true collector custom shop piece.
some say richlight material quite expensive, is true? if put regulation aside, rich light not a cost saving material compared to ebony .
Beautiful Guitar!
cool! this looks just like my richwood re-135 tree of life. Great find, I always wondered what it was based on, keep up the good work! 😊

Ibanez’ version of the tree of life inlay was visibly fancier at traditional inlay positions, so the side dots weren’t your only reference points.
Sounds as good as it looks!
That is one of the most stunning guitars I have ever seen.
Absolutely GORGEOUS instrument.
I hope you kept it, tonally it's a beast. All Maple seems to be working on here!
2:19 I thought that flame fretboard option was only on the limted run justin hawkins les paul customs. Learn something new everyday!
Fucking Insane, that is Royalty.
Austin! You said bushings instead of studs!
Are you ok?!

More like an art/craftsmanship guitar than something I'd play, though. But still amazing.

those extended channels for the custom inlay drove me nuts.
I really dig this one !👍👌 have you been practicing more? Demo was great!👍
The bright tone is without doubt due to the maple body (and neck) rather than the softer/less dense mahogany. Right up my street! If it's too bright, you can just turn the tone knob down. That is what they're for after all.
Has caused temporary Blindness ! Beautiful guitar! Absolutely beautiful 😍
Shine is the first music video I can remember watching as a kid
What is the fret wire made of? Is it Nickle Silver, Stainless Steel, or Evo Gold?
Is it true that these come PLEKED?
Is the fretboard Quartersawn?
Is that a sat-tin finish around the but-ton?
That's my perfect Les Paul. Buttercream frosting.
Love the abalone
Give it normal binding, neck and headstock and it’s a beautiful guitar.
I do like the tree of life inlay, but I'd be confused, at first, if i tried to play it. Haven't heard 'Shine' in a while. Nice.
Lovely apart from the fingerboard inlay - too much sadly. Always preferred the ibanez tree of life I liked that how it helped with placement
That thing sounds pretty freakin good! I want to put a bb1 and bb2 in my 339. The 57 and 57+ sound great but the neck pup is a little thick for my liking. The Dave Grohl DG-335 uses Burstbucker 2 & 3 in a semi-hollow. And that dude rocks out in The Foo Fighters!
Not crazy about the tree of life motif, but I’d rock it. The abalone binding is awesome.
Spectacular find Trogly ! I love it
I would much prefer something like split diamond inlays, That crazy inlay just makes it tacky
best part of the video was not seeing the same old strap giving me anxiety.. you know the one.. Grolsch beer come in bottles with little red seals. get yourself a 4 pack
Lol
Gorgeous top and inlay work. Sort of an Alembic-style LP.
Love the body wood. Not a fan of the neck pearl stuff
the waves in the quilt look like i can feel them 😮
Man you have come so far with your playing.
This one is why I love natural finished guitar
But do it have a separate top? Because how would they chamber it otherwise? Is that the top we could see by the cutaway's binding?
Yes, it has a two piece quilt top on a one piece flamed maple body
Personally I don't like all the inlays on the fretboard at all, but the body & headstock are gorgeous !
I think i remember aeeing this on reverb. This is like absolute dream level guitar for me.
wow looks like lake ripples Beautiful
that's definitely insane!!! what a gem!!! thanks for sharing this
Not just a great looking guitar, but looks light and well balanced as you play it
This guitar exudes light, beautiful sound! 💡 🎉 ☀️
beautiful guitar!
Thank you ❤
That is the very best Gibson I have ever seen. They truly knocked it out of the park. Trogly Museum Grade.
As Fee waybill said "She's a Beauty"!
Can someone tell me why the middle reading is “for fun” please
Show stomper!! Almost time for Trogly Gallery of fine axes. Like the GuitarMotel. That would be a hoot and a half. Ü ♫
Top notch tone !! This guitar sings to me…. MAN OH MAN I could do so much with that tone….
Trog! You never cease to amaze me with the guitars/history of Gibson you document !
Pretty cool
Personally, I don't mind the gaudiness, except for the fretboard inlays. Looking down at that there's no telling where you're at.
That is an awesome guitar. I love it, but it would be a collector for me not a player, except for maybe some special occasions.
I do usually like a natural top Les Paul, but that one is too 'cocktail cabinet' for me. I prefer a combination of maple and mahogany for a LP body. Was expecting that one to be above average weight.
I had an Ibanez EW acoustic with that same finish all over
That thing is unbelievable!
Great video, thanks.
Looks amazing!!!
Do you sell that guitar ??
Incredible top
It sounds great, always want my guitars on the brighter side, it’s easier to use a tone knob once in a while than be stuck with a muddy guitar
Beautiful.
I did like the sound of it . I really don't think the fretboard would distract me much.
Ultima, Elegant, Supreme.
I always felt like they were one ups of each other.
Any others?
