    Nice straps, I think brushed or blacked out hard wear is much nicer than polished hard wear for a nato especially considering the military feel you get with a nato on a dive or chrono watch.

      Thanks for that Jimmy - good thoughts those, and I would be inclined to agree! :)

      From what I understand, authentic Zulu straps have brushed or bead blasted hardware due to its military significance before the MOD released G10 (NATO) straps in the 70s. I'm not sure what else entails an RAF other than being single pass and having a fabric keeper

      Depends on the watch tbh, polished is nice if matching the case.

    I bought a few blusharks late last year, they are quality and the customer service is excellent. The only negative is the square holes in the strap. A couple of them are wearing very quickly and to me they would be better changing the buckles to a rounded tongue and use circular holes in the strap.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  5 лет назад

      Thank you for sharing that... good to note about the square holes. I haven't worn mine for massive durations, so far they are ok.

    Very nice comparison. The Ocean Master sure looks nice on a NATO/Zulu. I do feel the 1.4mm thickness is a bit much. That's why I love my Cincy Strap Works "Seat Belt" NATO so much, it's 1.2mm in thickness.

      Thanks for that Neal. Interesting to hear about Cincy Strap Works... haven't come across them before. Perhaps they might be willing to collaborate with me... will look into it in future! :)

    They make an alpha shark slim which feels best in my opinion, it is a step further in quality than the standard alpha shark.

      Thanks Donn - yeah I saw that when I was browsing again. It wasn't available when I got my pieces from them, but it sure sounds like a good choice and without the sometimes awkward thickness of these premium NATOs!

      Perth WAtch , that's exactly spot on, I love mine on my diver very thin and they made it feel silky smooth, the only nylon nato that's actually ever felt like silk running through my fingers and very thin.

    No Phoenix? The conundrum I seem to be hearing is 'Phoenix quality in bad, but its the only way to get the real Admiralty grey vintage look'.

      @PerthWAtch  4 года назад +1

      Thanks for that - yeah I've tried two piece NATO straps, can't remember which brand I used but that are a good alternative if you don't like the lift that a NATO causes on a watch.

    Hi mate I have a samurai in the mail - what width are these straps? I see that blushark offers 20mm or 22mm.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  5 лет назад

      Samurai should be 22mm IIRC (can check my review to confirm), and all strap companies I've ever bought from will offer 22mm options :)

    Sydney strap co look really good for a local product.

      Perth WAtch I’ve checked out his site but was disappointed to discover that his nato straps only go up to 22mm. I have two watches with 24mm lugs so it seems I’m stuck with the cheap quality on eBay 😢

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  6 лет назад

      Ah yes that's right. Well I can recommend BluShark for great quality also, they have sizes up to 24mm that may suit.

    hat would you recomend for an orange skx 011j? premium nylon strap?

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  5 лет назад

      I've enjoyed having premium NATO straps on my SKX... for the orange on I reckon you could go with almost any strap featuring orange... either black or blue with orange stripes, or even a simple orange silicone rubber.

    I'm so done with Blushark. They can't keep their lengths consistent. The straps don't fold over unless you buy the premiere options. Even their $32 straps are too short. I just bought several from Watchgecko and paid like 40 from some other online place too. Just annoyed I spent so much money on blushark to begin with. If you have small wrists, u might not have my problem

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  2 года назад

      Oh dear, didn’t know that was a problem with them!

    • @johnkennedy9078

      @@PerthWAtch well i'm starting to think most people don't care if their NATO end flips and tucks. For me that's the cherry on top with NATOs. But I did finally branch out to 2 different companies recently. And I hope my issue is resolved.
      I don't even have really big wrists either... they're prob slightly larger than average bc I'm tall. That's why I think tucking isn't a big deal to others

  • @bernardtan1
    @bernardtan1 4 года назад

    That's the reason why I don't like premium nato straps they are over done in terms of thicknesses of the strap, oversize buckle, etc.... I prefer minimal strap thickness, buckle, etc.... nothing too much or more than necessary.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  4 года назад

      Fair enough... these days I prefer either single pass NATO style straps or even two piece NATO style!

    That Phoibos is a proper NY0040 ripoff.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  6 лет назад

      Thanks for pointing that out... however most people say it's more a "ripoff" of the *Deep Blue ProTac 1000* . Check it out and you'll see what I mean. Phoibos say that they share the same OEM as Deep Blue hence it's legit. Deep Blue has been around longer - so did they ripoff Citizen? I haven't bothered to look further TBH...
