    Stop apologizing for the watches you have. Wear what you like.

    I have purchased and worn NATOs from all three makers, and I'd like to offer my small product reviews.I started with C&B Premium straps; their top of the line at the time. C&B offers a rainbow of color choices and designs.; nobody offers more. Very good quality. Looks good. Comfortable. Good value for the money. I then bought 2 Wrist Candy straps. Much lower quality. Never considered buying more.
    Which brings us to the BluShark Alpha straps. Top of the line. $32 a pop, and worth every penny. They have the most vivid colors, seatbelt-level webbing. Outrageous metal work. They are the best you can buy. Period. Now C&B has recently offered a Supreme NATO; a match for the Alpha. Knowing C&B, it;s probably very good, and worth a try.

    Thank you for the review! I have been agonizing over which NATO strap I want to get. Nice tip on getting extra percent off. Have to try that!

    Thank you! This is EXACTLY the review I was looking for. I've felt Shinola NATO straps in person and LOVE them but they're $50 and dont come in any colors I want. I will be checking out BlueShark

    Great review! I'm just getting into horology although I've always had watches. I jus purchased a skx007 used and I'm looking to swap out the jubilee bracelet with a NATO. I subbed you and can't believe you only have 62 subs

    Don't worry about the Shinola mate. One of the first watches I purchased before I was into watches was a Daniel Wellington, and it ended up being fake too! We all start somewhere eh?

    That watch tool was very nice! Natos and Zulus are awesome! Cool video!

    I prefer the oblong keepers because they lay down more snug to the band, and I think they look nicer.
    A solid buckle is more secure than a spring one, to prevent it popping out and risk your watch falling off your wrist, so I would be choosing a strap with the hardware I want.

    Hey, great video! Exactly addressed my decision! Plus, I'd literally just watched the Urban Gentry video. He's a phenomenal presenter, but I've started to question slightly some of his recommendations. (Two or more of the watches he's recommended are no longer made, one discontinued very near his video time, and after his and Hodinkee's glowing recommendations have tripled in price. So, I'm wondering whether he knew, and was contributing toward that, to make profit.) But I do still think he gives a good broad perspective review. I just wish there were a way to know he's not being tempted, now that he's so widely viewed, by companies to "sell out."
    Anyway, Thanks for a great review AND the math and heads up about the BluShark wait period!!

    Small world, the Citizen you flashed is the watch I JUST bought! I looked up this video to research other brands of NATO straps, but before so I went to C&B and bought the exact orange band in that black finish in the video! I'm gonna buy a couple of bands every paycheck, I'll check out the BluShark bands next.

      PS I like the whacky color combos that C&B offers, so I'll still order from them. I love the R/W/B strap for fourth of July weekend, the Gulf livery strap for track day, and I love that they have colors like pink and purple and aren't all just conservative choices. Just a small consideration about them before completely going brand loyal to one maker, not all of them offer the same color options.

    I was a little let down by the quality of my Crown and Buckle straps. Hell, my cheapestnatostrap straps seem to be nicer. Thinking about giving BluShark a try.

    Pretty certain The Urban Gentry gets paid or at least a steady supply of free straps from Wrist Candy. Nothing wrong with their straps but they are definitely on the lower end of the spectrum quality wise. And yes the hardware is complete crap on them. The Blu Shark Alpha line however is superb. Other than something along the lines of a 100+ dollar Omega I have yet to find better.

      You're yet to see a NATO with the quality of the Omega's? You should check out phenomenato.com/
      And here is a comparison between the Omega and the Phenome omegaforums.net/threads/review-comparing-omega-nato-strap-vs-phenomenato-strap-spectre.59456/ *VERY SIMILAR*
      I have heard however that the Alphasharks hold up a lot better than the Omega's, Phenome's and obviously the Tudor's etc.
      If you want the best most luxurious quality get the Phenome, if you actually go diving, fishing etc stick with the AlphaShark.
      Now I'd like to see a manufacturer who makes straps similar to Tudor's.

      Hi Lofty. I have mostly same opinion lake you. I have Several standard blushark straps , they arevery nice, high quality etc, i have alpha sharks and they are 2 levels or more above, and it needs some time to brake in - it looks like it can serve you years. And i have also few alpha sharks slim, super comfy right from box, super sexy silky feeling very soft, thiner.
      Honestly i had not phenomenos straps, but i cant emagine something more sexy to have at wrist, or more comfy and in some time very firm / solid.
      I like also moose and haveston straps, they looks very nice but i have any, coz they have only few colours and if i ordering straps i order mostly 3-6 per order. And i have all colours what i like and wariations, so i realy have not point to order from them. Maybe in some future.
      Have a nice day sir.

      the wrist candy straps are nice, not junky... the lighter weight look and feel is better on certain watches, IMHO it's not less quality, just different. no need to rate them as better or worse.

    The blushark straps just scream quality and robustness. I have 5 straps on the way from blushark and I can't wait to get them. Buy 3 and get 2 free. Free international shipping on orders over $50 too. A 10% discount straight away also or as said in the video, further discounts if you wait. You just can't beat that.

  • @rotoranger5269

    I've tried 3 of the 5 straps (CB,WCWC,BS) I actually like the WCWC the most for one simple reason it's about 1/2" longer than the other two and I have a bigger wrist. I have had mine for a little over two years now and haven't had any wear issues. I like the others just fine except the shorter lengths drove me nuts.

    • @rickgabriel02
      @rickgabriel02 5 лет назад

      A 20mm will work but be very tight. An 18mm will be just a little loose with some play. I'd say go for a 20mm and squeeze it in there.

    Nice video 👍
    I wear a lot of NATOs and I always end up with the buckle near the outside edge of my wrist. I really wish someone would come up with a design which allowed the buckle to sit in the centre of the wrist.
    By the way, Bark & Jack (watch review YT channel) sell some really nice NATO straps.
    Cheers!

    • @Mauitaoist

      all you have to do is learn how to use the NATO correctly; you can wear it three or more different ways, including " the buckle to sit in the centre of the wrist." just like you want! there are videos.....

    How much of a silkier feeling does the blue alpha shark has over the wrist candy one?

    • @stylex8927
      @stylex8927  6 лет назад

      Daniel Orozco it’s noticeably silkier and softer than WCWC. The overall quality it better with the BluShark premium in its material and hardware. But unless you get the discount and buy all three BluShark is a bit more money. I do not know about there standard nato. I have only tried the “premium” line.

    • @stylex8927
      @stylex8927  6 лет назад

      Daniel Orozco another thing to consider. You may already know this but softer nato (which I prefer) will start to fray faster than to ridged material nato straps. My BluSharks are not that old so they show no signs of fraying yet but you have to expect to replace them more often.

    IMHO, the Alpha was too silky. It spun even when worn tightly. Currently happy with my HD Crown and Buckle.

  • @dpw1989
    @dpw1989 6 лет назад +3

    Replaceable buckle (pin) defeats the purpose of wearing a NATO/Zulu in the first place...(like on the Blue Shark). It can fail or pop out and you'll lose both the watch and band. The oval Heavy duty hardware on the Crown & Buckle brand is the beefiest I've seen... I kayak and want something bomb-proof if I lose a spring bar. The fish have no use for my watch.

    Newsflash, all of these straps are (most likely) made in China for next to nothing, then these companies buy them in bulk and engrave their name on the buckle then sell them for... at least 5 times what they cost.

      You should check out this guy mark from Long Island watches if you’re looking for leather straps he’s legit and has very nice good quality horween leather. I put my 2 tone ‘79 GMT master on the brown from him. Wow what quality. Amazon 4 pack is great and not even just great for the price it’s good nato. The mako 2 USA black version on James-bond black and grey nato is so sexy. Figured I’d try to help ppl out and especially you because I’ve wasted hundreds on junk and I love South Park. Just my honest opinion I’m not a paid watch strap guy lol I wish I could make money off my opinions.
