The Portuguese Empire never "Fought" the British Empire, it was a dispute over the pink map, (in which Portuguese Mozambique and Angola would be connected) the British (wanting to make a trans African railway) denied this request and annexed what was in-between the Portuguese Colonies, also the Portuguese Empire ended in 1999 when Macau was given to China.
