    Guess what, I am 66 and have lost muscles mass, strength and speed due to auto accidents, broken bones and muscle atrophy from inactivity and I am still grateful to be alive and enjoy doing what I am able.
    I manage the household for an elderly ADHD woman as well as cook and shop for her.
    I am still a productive member of society and helpful to someone in need even though I no longer have the strength to practice massage.
    Sure I miss working in the yard but now I exercise in the ocean where there is little fear of falling during my jumping.
    I have been educated about the fall risk of the elderly from physical therapist and it is a fact of life and I am as careful as I can be but accidents happen; that is why they are called accidents.

    Fascinating segment, however, Peter’s position on the value of life for those who have become disabled due to injury or age is a sad reflection on the meaning of life. We are more than what we can do physically and perhaps those years at the end of our life where we lose some physical comforts are the times when we grow most spiritually and mentally.

    He doesn't treat the frail elderly. If he did, he'd know that they often fall due to the side effects of their multiple meds and their multiple medical disorders, not due to muscle weakness. Your dad at 92 is often dizzy, dehydrated, and deprived of quality sleep. THAT, added to the meds he is on, is why he fell.

      People who look after their health by eating healthy and doing resistance training are less likely to be on the same amount of medications or have the same amount of medical conditions and those who do not take care of their health. An elderly person who has significantly more lean muscle mass is less likely to fall even IF dizzy, dehydrated and deprived of sleep. There is a reason why you mention the "frail" elderly - not the "strong" elderly. I am a rehab carer and see the stark difference in elderly people who have been active all their life and those who have not.

Doctor peter athia said something at the very end that really struck me. My boyfriend was in a tragic car accident when he was 20. Now he is 44 and he has struggled immensely throughout his life with depression and suicidal thoughts. Because he has such a diminished quality of life. However, my point is that life is not over. Because you have limited physical capacity. Your life changes for sure, but you have to learn to look at it in a different way. Maybe you'll become more musical artistic or have a stronger mental capacity. I hope to God. He was not suggesting that people who have a downgraded physical abilities to just kill themselves.

      Just a random dude but sprinting downhill doesn't sound like a great idea. First, you are sprinting, going faster, not slower, so it isn't really eccentric since you aren't stopping or putting on the brakes. What about elderly people who practice a sport that has has falling essentially built in? I know of two skaters, one a figure skater, the other an aggressive inline skater who have done big jumps into at least their mid-80s. Like a delayed axel (which is a necessarily rather high jump to get the 540˚rotation) or a 360˚ jump riding the momentum out of a bowl. As good as they are at their respective sports, they will have falls. The inline skater wears a lot of safety gear and skaters learn to fall well, but I do wonder about how their falls compare to the falls of other people their age? Are they putting themselves in incredible danger or does the fact that falling in inbuilt to their lives make them safer overall?

Unfortunately sports performance work often has a very negative effect on health particularly joints and bones especially as one gets older. In my opinion after 40-50 exercising should be focused on promoting future independence and mobility and less about intense sports performance. That doesn't mean to quit sports but rather participate in a lighthearted way and do sports that are less physically impactful on the bones and joints (pickleball, table tennis, swimming, cycling etc)

    A lot of deaths from depression are actually not listed as deaths of despair. In the most severe cases, the person goes into a catatonic state of joylessness where they stop moving, eating or drinking water. They keep breathing due to the reflex, which is not voluntary, but they cease to support their bodies in any way. Death usually comes from dehyrdration in 48-96 hours, as the kidneys shut down and collapse. But the deaths are listed as "dehydration" when in reality they are deaths of self-termination. Also, thje medical community hides the data and pretend that these are just deaths by dehydration, like a biker that went on 1 10 hour-long ride without a bottle of water or electolytes. They lsit these deaths this way because they want to hide the failure of their medications in treating depression, and also so as to not disturb the friends and relatives of the deceased with feelings of guilt over their deaths. In general, Society doesn't care about depressives because society loves winners, and depresives are losers. We want these people to go "quietly into the night".

      Depends on their professions. Construction workers and DOT workers are more likely. They have to be out there working in pain and they often are surrounded by others who use. Accountants and lawyers? Not so much. Their cognitive impairments will cause them to lose their jobs and their livelihoods. They drink instead.

    I wonder of Rx companies have a hand in getting Fentanyl into the street drugs.

  • @ryeann2567
    @ryeann2567 5 месяцев назад +1

    Fentanyl is dosed in MICROgrams (mcg), NOT milligrams (mg) 1 milligram equals 1000 micrograms. Morphine, on the other hand is dosed in milligrams. Ergo, fentanyl is roughly 1000x more potent than morphine. A 1mg dose of fentanyl (1000mcg) would be fatal for most people outside of a hospital setting. 1000mcg of fentanyl would require intubation and mechanical ventilation for most patients in the hospital.
    The shit is wayyyyy too powerful to play with, or risk having it mixed in your other recreational drugs, unbeknownst to you.

God desires to have a relationship with us. He does not need us or any of His creation. He is infinite. He was never created and never came into being. He has always been. He is the great I AM, the supreme creator from whom all has come. Read Genesis 1:1 , Isaiah 46:9 and many other verses that you can read where you can see who is the only God. Also just walk outside and see all creation and when you think who made all this from the beginning? that’s God the creator, not from monkeys not a big boom lol, He is the alpha and the omega. When we seek him with all our heart and repent from doing wrong, no matter in what situation we found ourselves He is merciful, and he forgives us. And he tell us no longer to follow sin to do bad things, no longer to live under our own desires and our expectations, not to go with the wind takes us but instead to ground ourselves in Him, meaning to trust him and seek him.
