Heads up, if you will turn your easel around and put your back to that window when you’re painting you will have the best light you could ask for which is sunlight. Also I am just like you and love warm Edison bulbs for the cozy mood in my house but that is not what you want when you’re trying to mix color accurately as the warm light will distort the colors on your pallete and canvas. You want a daylight bulb for that. I know it isn’t a good aesthetic but it’s best for painting. Great video as always and keep up the painting!

You have to get the gravel started. And redo every few years. After many years it will start to harden and stay hardened. But will still need gravel but less often.

Living in Western NY most all my life, right on Lake Ontario, we expect frost, ice, snow, and mixed precipitation until June! I don't even trust the old farmer's almanac that says once the lilacs bloom you can plant tender shoots. We've had ice storms in late May take out the lilac bushes and frost in June 2nd... then it goes to 92 the next day! And I live in the Lilac capital of the world here!

Being an artist myself, if I could give you one piece of advice - it would be to get the proper bulb. Your warm light is great for mood but mixing colors under the wrong lighting conditions will amount to a color shift when in natural light. Artists use north light conditions. Acquire this in a light bulb. Alternately, turn your easel around and use daylight.

We live just over the border from you in Vermont. That ice storm was truly magical. It made even the mundane sparkle. The coating lasted for 2 Days. Hello Kyle and Ally, I was in Portland, OR during the ice storm in January and it was phenomenal. All of Portland was under ice, schools and airports, and businesses were closed. But walking with crampons at night down the silent streets where cars and trees and hoses were shrouded in 2-inch sheets of ice - it was something I'll never forget.
Another really entertaining video. Sorry to say we are going to have 2 more days of rain & snow this week in Massachusetts . Kyle your drone footage was great,have you ever thought of doing a video of just scenery.
one more thing. some unsolicited advice....(sorry)...take care of your back. I was flipping houses in the early 2000's and 4 disks in my spine got ground down to nothing. I had to sell all but one of my properties. I would suggest using a good back brace and getting a physical therapy consult. I use ice now when the nerves in my back flare up. I wish you all good things and know that you will do what's best for you. Thanks for your dedication to your audience and your art.
Hi Kyle, what helps me a lot with my slipped vertebrae is an air-filled ball cushion that I sit on while working in the office (39 hours a week). It exercises the deep back muscles as you have to constantly keep your balance on the cushion. A large exercise ball certainly has a similar effect, but takes up more space. Maybe it will also help with your back problems. However, I should add a little tip: there are people who get seasick on the cushion. But it's certainly worth a try, as it can be very effective without much effort.

Don't start with cheap supplies. I never have my elementary students cheap anything. To make quality paintings you need quality supplies. It will make all the difference. Also a an artist, I always suggest sell prints keep the originals that will become your collection.

We had an ice storm in 1950 in South Central Pennsylvania. I was only 12 years old and so I thought I could try to ice skate on the dirt road. It didn’t work. all the trees in the mountain above the papermill collapsed under the weight of the ice, it was dangerous to go for a hike during that time.
You can probably plug your modem/router into the power bank as well, and that may give you internet if those lines aren't down too. May help for getting videos uploaded when that happens. Great video!

You need to put slag down on your drive - I had an area like yours and I slagged it - it basically turns into concrete and eliminates the mud. And it’s cheap! Dig out the mud down to a firm base and then fill in with the slag.
I had a lot to say about this one but I have two for sure. Just Brilliant! I would be a buyer if you decide to sell your paintings at some point. You have the gift just as my mother does. Keep on keeping on you two. Peace.
Kyle, you mentioned in the video when you lost power that you should get a transfer switch so you can hook up a generator to power your house. My brother and I live on the same property here in California and we decided to put in an interlock in each house instead. It is better and way cheaper and way easier to install than transfer switches. We had an electrician do ours, but my other brother put one in his house himself. I think it would be worth looking into.

Lava soap....clean your brushes with lava soap! Learned this in high school oil painting class.
