The advantage of the reverb is that it never disagrees... On the other hand: if you want to learn something new, get new insights, constructive feedback from others can make you better, so please don't shut yourself 100% off for others. The best way to get the best from both worlds, is practicing on your own with the help from the Internet (RUclips for instance) and playing on sessions, where there is no real obligation with respect to whether you are there or not and to how perfect your playing should be. That's totally different from when you perform in a band for money. Personally I love Irish sessions and blues sessions.
Seems everyone is missing the point thinking the reverb and chorus are coming through the line out to a speaker. Unplugged the chorus/reverb still comes from the sound hole of the guitar. You don’t need a line out to get it. It has a magic box in the guitar body that vibrates or some such devilry to make reverb and chorus. Cool!
I just bought an FG TA the other day. I have to wait a week for it to come in. But trying it out in guitar center, I was in shock the whole time I was playing it. No doubt the best six string guitar I have ever played. I bought it with the Brown Sunburst finish. This thing is a super weapon for any guitarist.
@@RuslanKasymov Same. I lose inspiration on my acoustic cause I can’t play up the neck with sustain. When I played these, all I could think of was John Mayer’s outdoor acoustic gig under that tent for Martin.
Very VERY sweet guitars! And I have to say I really am enjoying the videos with Pete and Joss. You guys seem to make a good team. It's all cool playing, cool vibes and cool guitars. Keep 'em coming!
Bought an LS-TA (based on Mick and Pete playing). What a guitar! Couldn’t be happier! It’s the best thing I bought in years and the most inspiring piece of kit I own.
You could sit around a camp fire at some beach with friends and freak some people out with one of these guitars. ...assuming they knew enough about guitars to know that unplugged acoustics dont have reverb and chorus. Others would just say "Oh Pretty..." lolz
The guitar has an onboard electronic circuit that creates reverb and chorus. That effect can be brought out the output jack to the amp and/or sent to a transducer[think speaker voice coil] which transfers energy to the body of the guitar via its attachment to a rear back brace [think speaker cone] inside the guitar. The effects can be run to both or singlely.
Just bought the concert size yesterday, so stoked. Trust me my dudes, you have to try it in person. It is impossible to explain what it sounds like and the videos don't do it justice. Try one, guitar center has em'. There is no amplifier inside the guitar but somehow it makes the guitar tremendously loud. Without plugging in at all.
It's the same technology used in stage pianos. It's a magnet actuator that uses the back and sides as the cone. So basically it turns the guitar into a speaker. Yamaha has used this technology for years on their pianos.
Amaizing! I picked one up at GC yesterday and it sounded amaizing even without the amp features. If they had a cut away it would have gone home with me and I dont need another acoustic right now...
I got mines. the western body. And I am going to get the little one soon. they are really nice. that's why I am going to buy the other one.., those trans acoustic the latest and the greatest in my opinion.
After shopping for a new acoustic around the 600 pund mark last year, I am fully convinced that Yamaha makes the best guitars in that price range (by far). I ended up with an LJ-16, and it basically sounds like a great J-200 with a better pickup than the Gibsons have. Costs around a third of the price. I'm still super impressed, half a year later!
Beautiful. Adertons Music Co. video reviews and performances are just superb. I like the people and the quality of the instruments you test and the blind tests are really true. Keep up the great work as it is to many of us one of the most helpful guitar video platforms going for this kind of stuff.
I played one of these at Guitar Center a couple days ago. The neck is super comfortable and the guitar has resonance for days. I'm tempted to make some trades to bring one home.
Cpt. James K Morgan I‘ve got a ToneWood Amp and am now STILL very interested in the Yamaha dread. Not too content with having to find the sweet spot for the TWA. If you miss it by a bit and notice that later you want a change, you have to re-seat the magnetic brace on the inside - fine if you haven‘t yet stuck it down, but if you have, then you have to peel it loose and find a way to re-stick it, meaning loosening/removing strings again. For me, I‘d now prefer to have a quick-and-dirty Yamaha to just get the (busking) job done without fiddling with things. Otherwise, though, the TWA is far more adjustable and has more effects - a blessing and a curse. A curse because you have to step through various modes (not too difficult but annoying) to save things, then need to remember what you saved where. And if you intend to switch the TWA between several guitars (one of its big selling points), then you will need to create different effect patches for each guitar. An effect set for a particular guitar can sound way off for another (as in far too muffled or too bright and shouty). It all depends on how you position the TWA in each, and what the overall frequency response is for each guitar across the full spectrum.
How do you like it? I'm really thinking about getting one. I had to sell my Strat years ago to pay bills and want to get back into playing, but I was just going to get an acoustic and saw this one and everyone says they are great guitars for the price.
I have the concert version in the vintage color put on layaway. Couldn't help myself as soon as i tried it after buying a Yamaha APX 1000 which i absolutely love.
Excellent. I can't wait until version 2 with delay and presets. It will have the ability to use a pedal or your phone to pick between presets using Bluetooth. And the ability. To trade custom presets which add eq compression flange phase distortion etc. And eventually the tech will be available for all instruments. That's my wish.

The transducer is, more than likely, making the back of the guitar vibrate which sends the sound not just out the sound hole, but also away from the back making it sound like surround sound. I thought that opening jam was going to lead into "Knocking on Heaven's Door". I tried one of these out in Canada (model #LLTA BS at L&M). It was a solid Engelmann spruce top and solid rosewood back and sides and only cost $1,200. CAD (691.00 of your funny money). Hats off to Yamaha for such a value and sound. I have the FG-TA,the natural color, for about a year now. I am very pleased with it, the effects not only give it a great sound, the guitar sounds much louder as well! FYI, it does drain the batteries pretty quickly, maybe 4 hrs of playin' time, then the effects start to fade, and in 15 mins they turn off. Offcourse,if you re havin gigs, one would prepare the extra batteries. My other fear is - Yamaha does not provide great customer service, and the parts are really expensive. I had the Yamaha cpx 1200 vs, the original tuners were about 200 € new. What would the price be if the actuator that provides the effects broke somehow? Cause when u get used to play with the effects, the dry sound sounds awful, like u can hear on the video here... So,I was thinkin of purchasing the premium model that has wood on all sides, better tuners etc., but would really like to know what would happen if the effect system failed somehow.
do tabs for the opening even exist anywhere? Is this even a real song by somebody that I can find because I can't find anything no matter how hard I search
That phenomenon of the reverb and chorus effects projecting through the sound hole and making it sound like it is coming from a source located behind you is exactly the same effect demonstrated by Mike Dawes in his video with Lee a few weeks ago in which he used the Tonewood internal amp to produced exactly the same effect. It is toward the end of the interview. Very cool indeed!
