OMG TYVM! This video answered all of my questions. I just strip the color out of my hair and ended up with white orange hair. I will be waiting until Monday which is two days away to actually apply the arctic fox purple rain. I am 46 years old and coloring my hair purple has been on my bucket list for a while. Catmistry that’s a great tip!! You’d prob need a LOT for the whole bottom of a tub though lol, the spray is pretty easy BUT I will def try that next time on my skin!
Looks like I'll be heading to Sally's for some purple Arctic Fox. It look great. We have similar natural hair colors, so this might be perfect for me. If you want to get color out quicker, you can also use a simple clarifying shampoo as another option. The cleaning spray she uses is a great product. But as an alternate (just in case anyone has an issue with the smell of bleach) try a color change foam cleanser. I forget the name of the brand, but I think it starts with a K

My friend used Artic fox purple 💜 rain and it lasted 6 weeks.. she rinse and washes her hair once a week.. with a cold water....not warm or hot because it comes off and fades quickly. She used cold water to saturate her hair so the color stick to her for least 2 months or so. And she still keeps up with it til this day and the color came out perfect on her..

You don't want conditioner or oils in your hair before you put in arctic fox. So it's best to shampoo right beforehand for the strongest and most even results. NO conditioner.

Great video!! I don't do anything to my hair and I have a bee in my bonnet about purple and I just used purple for brown overtone and I loved it but now I want a sharper purple...so this video was great, even down to the cleaning of the tub! Ty!!
katrb4 if you don’t bleach your hair ahead of time, just adding this to your hair won’t damage it at all- it’s basically conditioner with color that coats your hair. However with brown hair with blonde highlights, the blonde parts will be more vibrant where the brown will just get darker with more of a tint of purple.

How do you detangle your hair if you haven't used any conditioner? My hair tangles if you look at it wrong, and I find it impossible to detangle without using some kind of leave-in conditioner.
I'm assuming she's saying no conditioner for the first time 🤷 I know she said no product but I use Ion detangler (spray leave in conditioner) I love the way it smells & makes my hair feel. I also love the Kenra heat protection pump gel, it smells like strawberry kool aid ❤
honestly I find artic fox VERY conditioning just sitting in your hair during processing, I ALWAYS have to condition my hair or I can't brush it, but I ran out and when my hair dried it was SO EFFING SOFT.

I bought this color at Sally's and my first impression was like WOW!!!!!!!!! I left it in for about 4 hrs and it came out orgasmic(as far as upkeep goes use a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner) trust me once you use it you'll never want to use manic panic no more or ever
If you use the hair dye to remove colour off your skin it works like a charm. Just put colour on an old cloth or paper towel then rub onto skin and wipe clean.
Without bleaching, she's only going to end up with a tint that will be more noticeable in the sun. You can use the Overtone Purple for Brown Hair (howl.me/ckc3P91QZn4 - target affiliate link) but again, without bleaching it's sort of like using a purple highlighter over brown paper if that makes sense.
I just did mine today, my hair was (4 wash fades of infra red manic panic) BRIGHT red. i smothered it in purple rain and now it's a dark purple and burgundy purple on top. SO PRETTY even if you don't have lightened or blonde hair. IT SMELLS AMAZING but you're a PRO at not getting dye on you, I used vasaline on my hairline and neck and still managed to have it ALL OVER my chest, arms, neck, face, and somehow my back. BUT NONE On my floor or counters lol

I went to wash (This time in warm/hot water) and the bath water turned so dark purple it looked like a black swamp) and now it doesn't transfer. so from now on I WONT be washing in cold water
If you don't lighten your hair at all, it's not going to come out bright at all-- you might get a tint that shows in the sunlight but it will probably just make your hair look slightly darker and no-- you won't get the magenta fade because that's the result of the purple slipping out of the blonde underneath.
Yes, it's a semi permanent so it will fade after a certain amount of washes, depending on if you heat style as well-- lots of factors lead to it fading quicker.
Heyyy! I just wanted to suggest the "As I Am" dry itchy scalp shampoo and cowash. Its color safe and worked better for me than even the t-gel! Maybe worth a try?
Yes! this was after I had bleached my hair and then done pink, and purple with overtone. Then landed on this with the best results but when I used this my hair wasn’t freshly bleached- it still had the pink in it.
I want to use this product. I have a lot of red on my hair right now. I was thinking about using Joico hair color intensity eraser to lift the red for a more even application. Do you think this will work?
Hakuna Matata always make sure your hair is fully dry, and the color shouldn’t transfer. If it does though, this particular color washes out in normal laundry.
I'm wondering if you can use this if you've henna on your hair. I did a henna dye over two months ago and I'm not sure if I can use this kind of dye yet.
That faded color is actually really pretty on you too! Love the purple. I need to figure out how to do deep jewel toned teal low lights on my dark brown (with some gray...aka...glittwr strands...lol!) hair. Edit: I thought we weren't supposed to wash before coloring? Does the dandruff shampoo work to super strip the hair of oils? And hence, make the color stick better?
Thank you so much! So you don't wash before coloring if you're doing processing, (like using developer) because your natural oils protect your scalp. If you're doing semi-permanent (like this) then yes, washing gets rid of any residue/oils and helps the color stick better because semi-permanents coat the hair instead of going into the make-up. Which is also why you want to wash and color without conditioner in between.
Okay so I dyed my hair red just a minute ago but my roots turned orange for some reason do you think if I used a color remover then used the arctic fox it would cover it
What level was your hair when you dyed it? Im i think a level 9 or 8 so im not sure if colour would show up as much, and does it stain when washing your hair after washing the dye out(if that makes sense) ?
I think it was about a 7 when I first dyed it, and then I just kept dying over the faded purple after that. If you're 9-8 then it will definitely show up. Yes, the color stains the tub but I bleached it with a spray every time I got out of the shower.
I really want to dye my hair with arctic fox purple rain but it would be my first time ever dying my hair. I really want a deep purple and nothing too crazy. I have light to medium brown hair and it’s pretty wavy so idk what to do
after a couple washes I don't get any transfer. but if you constantly refresh it then you'll always have new pigment. The vibrancy depends on a lot of factors, what type fo shampoo you use, how often you wash, how much sun exposure you have etc
There’s absolutely no benefit to leaving it in overnight, it’s a coating product so it’s not like it has to sink in and it’s not developing. I’d say an hour at most.
how bright does it look if you don’t lighten it beforehand? Do you have any videos where you focus on your natural hair colors coverage? I have fairly dark brown hair (between 3-5 depending on the example you use) but it’s a little lightened on the ends from a dye job I just let grow out from 2 years ago. It’s about a level 6-7 on the bottom couple of inches. My hair is to my waist so it’s not very much that’s light.
With any semi permanent hair dye, over dark brown hair you'll only get more of a tint. Might show up in the sunlight but otherwise will be very very subtle. You could check out Overtone for Brown Hair purple but still, lightening even a bit will make it more vibrant.
Tbh I wouldn’t be the best person to answer that question because I never let it fade more than magenta. It’s semi permanent so it’s supposed to wash out of your hair completely after a while!
Thank you for this video! I am going to dye my hair using Arctic Fox, so I’ve been searching for some tips and found your video. I have medium to dark brown hair naturally (not dyed at all). So I understand I won’t get as much of a color difference, it will probably just look darker with a hint of blue undertone. (I’m trying the Blue Jean Baby). But I had a really hard time deciding between Arctic Fox or Manic Panic! Took me forever, until I just went with what’s cheaper (I have lots of hair so need two bottles I’m thinking, especially with the manic panic as you can’t get an 8 oz like the other brand). So here is my question finally (lol), which did you prefer between Manic panic and Arctic Fox? On the natural parts of your hair, which color and product worked the best? Sorry I know this video was made a year ago but you seem to know your brands and colors, so I thought I’d ask you! My natural color is very close to yours, and I’m really wondering which one is going to show up the most. I’m going blue but does purple show up more on dark hair? Sorry again, lots of questions!
Blue night end up looking more black on dark hair but honestly you’re likely to get the same type of darkening/tint effect with purple. I’ve only tried one manic panic product and I didn’t find it as vibrant as Arctic fox!
I doubt you'll see this comment, but I have a question. I recently dyed my hair "purple". It came out burgundy. Would using Overtone help take some of the red out?
Hmmm what was your starting point, and what did you use? Your issue may have been your hair wasn't lightened/toned enough for the purple to show up more vibrant, or perhaps the purple you used had a strong warm undertone and so did you hair color. I would try to assess why that happened first because the overtone can't color correct, it'll just coat in more color.

Splat hair color sent me a box of double lift purple for dark hair (it supposedly lifts a little for you) to review, but it also had a warm undertone. Apparently those two didn’t mix. I am just trying to adjust the tint and not darken it; I’d rather not use a lightener if I can avoid it. I don’t mind dying my hair, but I am no hairdresser.
@@LangTang88 Got it! yeah probably a mix of warm hair and warm color. I would go with Arctic Fox in Purple Rain (the one in this video) over overtone at least at first-- as I find it a bit stronger when you're trying to cover color. I originally used it to cover a dusty faded warm rose gold and it worked like a charm. When I had tried overtone over the rose gold, it came out a little uneven with still a lot of warmth.

@@LangTang88 would you say that arctic fox is darker than your goal color? because it's a darker color in general. For overtone either one works, I have such thick hair and go through conditioner so fast that I usually used the deep conditioner more than the daily conditioner for that reason.
If you stick to sulfate-free shampoos you'll get less run. However, every time I washed, I was also using the Overtone daily conditioner so I can't really tell you HOW much was normal run and how much was the conditioner rinsing out.
Lol I think I go over this several times in the vid but you wash your hair with shampoo, let it dry or blow dry but do not put anything in it (serum, conditioner), then put in the color.

I always use acetone with a cotton pad to remove any stains on my sink or counter (sometimes I use it on my skin too)

Be careful to not use acetone on acrylic tubs, it will damage them!

It will if you’re working it into the roots, but it’ll come off in your first wash.

Anna Adams it was at about a level 8! You can see it freshly lightened in my Manic Panic review video from December!

It came very nice. And as far as your bathtub being stained, do what I do . Just wash it out in the kitchen sink. So much easier that way trust me. 🙂😃

You can use the Overtone Purple for Brown Hair (howl.me/ckc3P91QZn4 - target affiliate link) but again, without bleaching it's sort of like using a purple highlighter over brown paper if that makes sense.
I just did mine today, my hair was (4 wash fades of infra red manic panic) BRIGHT red. i smothered it in purple rain and now it's a dark purple and burgundy purple on top. SO PRETTY even if you don't have lightened or blonde hair. IT SMELLS AMAZING but you're a PRO at not getting dye on you, I used vasaline on my hairline and neck and still managed to have it ALL OVER my chest, arms, neck, face, and somehow my back. BUT NONE On my floor or counters lol

@@slashedbeauty I did that the first time, I was instructed to use cold water. Then I noticed every time I touched my hair my hands were purple. I went to wash (This time in warm/hot water) and the bath water turned so dark purple it looked like a black swamp) and now it doesn't transfer. so from now on I WONT be washing in cold water

If you don't lighten your hair at all, it's not going to come out bright at all-- you might get a tint that shows in the sunlight but it will probably just make your hair look slightly darker and no-- you won't get the magenta fade because that's the result of the purple slipping out of the blonde underneath.

Yes, it's a semi permanent so it will fade after a certain amount of washes, depending on if you heat style as well-- lots of factors lead to it fading quicker.

Yes! this was after I had bleached my hair and then done pink, and purple with overtone. Then landed on this with the best results but when I used this my hair wasn’t freshly bleached- it still had the pink in it.

Hakuna Matata always make sure your hair is fully dry, and the color shouldn’t transfer. If it does though, this particular color washes out in normal laundry.

Thank you so much! So you don't wash before coloring if you're doing processing,
(like using developer) because your natural oils protect your scalp. If you're doing semi-permanent (like this) then yes, washing gets rid of any residue/oils and helps the color stick better because semi-permanents coat the hair instead of going into the make-up. Which is also why you want to wash and color without conditioner in between.
Should you put your hair in a middle part or the part that your hair is regularly/naturally in?

What level was your hair when you dyed it? Im i think a level 9 or 8 so im not sure if colour would show up as much, and does it stain when washing your hair after washing the dye out(if that makes sense) ?
I think it was about a 7 when I first dyed it, and then I just kept dying over the faded purple after that. If you're 9-8 then it will definitely show up. Yes, the color stains the tub but I bleached it with a spray every time I got out of the shower.

after a couple washes I don't get any transfer. but if you constantly refresh it then you'll always have new pigment. The vibrancy depends on a lot of factors, what type fo shampoo you use, how often you wash, how much sun exposure you have etc
How long did you leave it in for? Some people say 30 minutes all the way to overnight
There’s absolutely no benefit to leaving it in overnight, it’s a coating product so it’s not like it has to sink in and it’s not developing. I’d say an hour at most.
how bright does it look if you don’t lighten it beforehand? Do you have any videos where you focus on your natural hair colors coverage?
I have fairly dark brown hair (between 3-5 depending on the example you use) but it’s a little lightened on the ends from a dye job I just let grow out from 2 years ago. It’s about a level 6-7 on the bottom couple of inches. My hair is to my waist so it’s not very much that’s light.
With any semi permanent hair dye, over dark brown hair you'll only get more of a tint. Might show up in the sunlight but otherwise will be very very subtle. You could check out Overtone for Brown Hair purple but still, lightening even a bit will make it more vibrant.

Tbh I wouldn’t be the best person to answer that question because I never let it fade more than magenta. It’s semi permanent so it’s supposed to wash out of your hair completely after a while!

You can use a color fader. Overtone has one and I think Arctic fox does too. No guarantee it won't stain tho

Thank you for this video! I am going to dye my hair using Arctic Fox, so I’ve been searching for some tips and found your video. I have medium to dark brown hair naturally (not dyed at all). So I understand I won’t get as much of a color difference, it will probably just look darker with a hint of blue undertone. (I’m trying the Blue Jean Baby). But I had a really hard time deciding between Arctic Fox or Manic Panic! Took me forever, until I just went with what’s cheaper (I have lots of hair so need two bottles I’m thinking, especially with the manic panic as you can’t get an 8 oz like the other brand). So here is my question finally (lol), which did you prefer between Manic panic and Arctic Fox? On the natural parts of your hair, which color and product worked the best? My natural color is very close to yours, and I’m really wondering which one is going to show up the most. I’m going blue but does purple show up more on dark hair? Sorry again, lots of questions!
Blue night end up looking more black on dark hair but honestly you’re likely to get the same type of darkening/tint effect with purple. I’ve only tried one manic panic product and I didn’t find it as vibrant as Arctic fox!

I doubt you'll see this comment, but I have a question. I recently dyed my hair "purple". It came out burgundy. Would using Overtone help take some of the red out?
Hmmm what was your starting point, and what did you use? Your issue may have been your hair wasn't lightened/toned enough for the purple to show up more vibrant, or perhaps the purple you used had a strong warm undertone and so did you hair color. I would try to assess why that happened first because the overtone can't color correct, it'll just coat in more color.

Splat hair color sent me a box of double lift purple for dark hair (it supposedly lifts a little for you) to review, but it also had a warm undertone. Apparently those two didn’t mix. I am just trying to adjust the tint and not darken it; I’d rather not use a lightener if I can avoid it. I don’t mind dying my hair, but I am no hairdresser.
@@LangTang88 Got it! yeah probably a mix of warm hair and warm color. I would go with Arctic Fox in Purple Rain (the one in this video) over overtone at least at first-- as I find it a bit stronger when you're trying to cover color. I originally used it to cover a dusty faded warm rose gold and it worked like a charm. When I had tried overtone over the rose gold, it came out a little uneven with still a lot of warmth.

@@LangTang88 would you say that arctic fox is darker than your goal color? because it's a darker color in general. For overtone either one works, I have such thick hair and go through conditioner so fast that I usually used the deep conditioner more than the daily conditioner for that reason.

Does this color run everytime you wash it like other brands like splat and punky color?
If you stick to sulfate-free shampoos you'll get less run. However, every time I washed, I was also using the Overtone daily conditioner so I can't really tell you HOW much was normal run and how much was the conditioner rinsing out.

Only water! It works like conditioner so my hair is washed beforehand

Lol I think I go over this several times in the vid but you wash your hair with shampoo, let it dry or blow dry but do not put anything in it (serum, conditioner), then put in the color.

Yes. Really dark hair will not show color.

Yeah they're in the same color family so I don't see that being an issue, depending on how faded it is it may lean a cooler purple.
