2024 pro in underground was my move. I'm not looking back. When I was 16, 17 years old, a great friend had an 86, and I had an 89 Bronco 2 with a little lift. We went everywhere. I was a ride or die Brinco guy for over 30 years. As the new Broncos came out. I was really excited the whole time. Till I saw the odd types of people jumping on the wagon. It started to turn me off. But the love affair I had with a 4runner wasn't even my own. It was my buddy Steve's. The choice I had to make this year as a new truck became an. Option for me. It was literally the first time since 96. (Which was a full-size Bronco) My heart and my head said 4runner. Simultaneously. I'm now 100% team 4runner. Kinda always was.
5th Gen for the win! Once the 6th Gen hits the market with it's $68K+ price tag and the new engine the 5th Gen will be even more appreciated. I have a 2023 that I will keep forever!
Awesome. Yes, the more I see of the price projections for the 6G the more I believe Toyota has lost their minds. 5G's are built like a tank and I would imagine the used market will stay hot for years to come.
Just bought a 2024 Limited so count me in on Gen 5. Wanted the full time 4wd and proven reliability. I actually drove the new Tacoma back to back to compare what the Gen 6 might drive like and preferred the smooth and solid feel of the Gen 5. Looks like you will only be able to get full time 4wd on the hybrid Limited or Platinum on Gen 6. Will have to see how that pans out long term.
Even though my 23 4runner has had many issues in it's 20k miles. I blame toyota cutting back on quality it's far better built than any of these new toyota models. 5th gen will outlast and is cheaper than 6th. If it's anything like the new tacoma forget it. Every model at my local dealership had horrible fit and finish with crooked rear bumpers galore. They can't even sell them.
Yes, I drove through a larger dealer a few days ago looking for any 5th gens that might still be in stock but was shocked by how many Tacoma 4x4's were in stock. Many showing signs of poor fit and finish as you described but the price is absurdly high. I think there is an issue with quality and that might very well be why they are delaying the 6th gen.
5th Gen forsure-the 6th Gen is to big of a beast to have a 4 cylinder turbo carrying that thing around, long term will no way be a good and it will cost more
I'm curious to see if they cut vital protection under the 6G's to save weight. Lots low hanging components are just covered with plastic in the new Tundra. If the pricing for the TRD Pro Tacoma is an indication of 4runner pricing it will be nearly 70K and that's just insane.

Team 4Runner all the way. Awesome story thanks for sharing and take care of 5th gen as long as you can.

Up your bread. Your employer is screwing you over.

I’m sure in time they will work out some of these initial issues but yeah I’m all about tue dependability. Full time 4wd is nice.
