Thank you sooo much for making a real in-depth video on this team. As Jags fans we've had to deal with not only the pain of that collapse but with how the media and other youtube videos falsely portrayed the problems and left out key details that continued to add to the inevitable end of that era. Seriously thx!

@Harry Engel this passed on Mahomes, Lamar jackson(ville), deshaun Watson, if they pass on Lawrence’s I’ll stop being a fan lol. They passed on those guys in the middle of that great defensive team
@@Teachingcasuals brrruuhhh. I’m with you man. I swear even if we draft Trevor Lawrence. If the jags ruin his career I will not be a fan. Their on thin ice with me.
This team was destroyed when the idiot GM gave Bortles a FAT contract which he CLEARLY didn't deserve. The players who they should have payed they did not. That was the DEMISE OF THAT TEAM!!
I would love to hear about the decline of the ‘96 Jags. I remember how amazed people were by the newly formed Jags team getting to the playoffs consistently, but have no clue how they went from that to getting a bunch of solid first round picks that led to the season talked about in the collapse. Also, what happened to Mark Brunell?
Well, the Jaguars have an extremely hard time of beating Tennessee. In 1999 or 2000, when they made it to the AFC Championship game, which was in Jacksonville, because they were 14-2, they got beat by Tennessee. The Jaguars finished 15-3 (including playoffs) and all three losses were against, you guessed it, the Titans. Ever since then they have dominated Jacksonville and the Jaguars haven't won in Tennessee since 2013 and I don't expect them to win much more games in Tennessee, or any games for that matter. Tom Coughlin was a great coach, but single handedly got rid of everyone on that 2017 team. It was a disaster. I've been a fan since they were first founded in 1995. I was 9 years old at the time and dumped Washington (my former team) to root for them. 🏈🐆
I agree with a video of the decline of the late 1990s Jaguars. Going from 14-2 to 7-9 (and worse after 2000) constitutes a major decline even when one considers that Pro Football Reference says the 14-2 1999 Jaguars had the fifth-easiest regular season schedule of any NFL team between 1971 and 2017.
@@guodade2239 They were an extremely talented team in 1999. They had a good offense and defense. Keenan McCardell, Jimmy Smith, Fred Taylor, Mark Brunell, Kevin Hardy, and a bunch more. During those years, Jags fans were expecting wins and not loses.
@@They_drew_first_blood If that be so, that is more reason for doing the decline of the late 1990s Jaguars - it’s one I personally have desired for a long time but has never been done. From what I have read, injuries were a key factor in the decline at least in 2000. I have never read anything about what was going on off the field with the early 2000s Jaguars, but maybe I (and others) could learn a lot from a documentary on the fall of the late 1990s Jaguars??
@@guodade2239 Yes! That would actually be a great idea. I do know that when Coughlin was let go, it was downhill from there. The Jags also released Brunell or didn't sign him, but I'm kinda weary on remembering the Jaguars in the early 2000's because I joined the Marine Corps in 2002 and just lost track of what they were doing because I was extremely busy with the war and all of that, but I do know they really sucked.
I literally think of this team time and time again and think just how great they could of been. They truly had a top defense one of the best all around that leagues seen in years. Almost like the 2013 Seahawks a Legion of boom if you will. Can’t believe how many players left the team. It’s sad really especially to the fans.
As a jags fan experiencing all of this was a crazy time. From almost going to the super bowl to having the 1st pick this year...let's see how it goes hopefully this comment ages well and in the next 5 years they become super bowl champions...hopefully
It's amazing that the ending claims there's no where to go but up, and while that definitely seemed like the only thing that could be said at the time, being in late December now, things have somehow found a way to indeed get worse. With Meyer's epic failures, Lawrence's development being seriously hindered, Robinson tearing his achilles, and the team just lying down for every opponent. It's incredible how much more can go wrong when it's claimed that it can't get any worse
i sat at that afc championship and balled my eyes out. this organization killed itself. culture change is needed. i will forever be a jags fan but god is it hard to watch a team who doesn’t know how to be a team. go jags always!! duvallllllll

Thing to note at 1:36. Only 3 of those guys were 1st round picks of Jacksonville: Ramsey, Fournette and Fowler: They really feasted on hidden gems found later in the draft, Telvin Smith, Myles Jack, and Yannick Ngakuoe. Abry Jones was undrafted. (Free-agent signings helped too)

I am a longtime jags fan and I remember watching the AFC championship game from the hospital because an hour after it ended my son was born. As mad and disappointed as I could have been It was one of the happiest days of my life.
Some people forget just how much talent was on that jags team, absolutely ridiculous
Thank you sooo much for making a real in-depth video on this team. As Jags fans we've had to deal with not only the pain of that collapse but with how the media and other youtube videos falsely portrayed the problems and left out key details that continued to add to the inevitable end of that era. Seriously thx!
I have been a Jags fan since 2011, this was the only time that the Jags had a winning record in the time I have been following them. They just went back to the way they always were as far as I'm concerned.
It’s so crazy when the video starts you can see how EVERYONE is gone. Wow.
"When supporting your teammate no matter what goes wrong"
If only they would have got rid of Blake Bortles
man even though I was not a jaguars fan It was always exciting to watch this team play
This is the episode of Secret Base 'Collapse' I have been waiting for. Thank you guys so much for this, it was phenomenal. You guys should do a rewinder on the double doink.
When we were up 13 I knew it was over no joke crazy as hell
Sadly I was kinda expecting this video at some point
The Urban Meyer + Hope ending is a bit hilarious in hindsight 😂 sorry, I’m just finding this channel and enjoying the rabbit hole
that made me laugh but hey they definitely have some hope now. Tlaw is healthy they got some nice players and pederson is a solid head coach and a SB winner
Now they've just won their 2nd AFC South Division Title in franchise history.
"Big...Nick Foles" had me howling. Excellent video.
As a Jags fan, this crushed my heart.
Leonard Fournette winning a SB title with the Bucs brought me here.
Burger toppings? Get ready for this.
Bacon, lettuce, cucumbers, and olives, alone with melted Cheddar cheese and tzakizki sauce.
Unreal burgers.
This was one of my favorite videos you've ever done. Great job.
I suggest the rise, and fall of the 05 Seahawks for one of your next videos.
I moved back to Jacksonville right before the 2017 season started. Although not a jags fan, this city was going nuts! Its been a rough couple years to say the least. Great video!
You should’ve included the tweet they sent out after going 1-0 this season. Talking about “not satisfied with 1-0” 🤣🤣🤣
Wait, that actually happened?!
Their not satisfied with 1-0 their satisfied with 1-15
@@terryaltherr2481 yes
@@terryaltherr2481 yep and their tweet is still up lmao
"Not satisfied with 1-0." Alright, guys, I put it, happy now? Marrone: Sure. Now we can go back to laughing stock.
Coughlin wanted to run the team like it’s the 1990s and refused to adapt to the modern NFL, a breakdown
Even in the 90s the stuff he had was a bit much. The dude has some issues
@@kingdaymon6433 nah he's Got 2 superbowls
Something the Jags will never have
@@jrgargano8620 honestly dude.
If that jags team just put aside their egos for a year or 2 and did what tom wanted.
They'd have a ring.
@@steel749 It's not like Tom Brady had anything to say about that or anything.
Not quite. Coughlin adapted and changed his way of coaching and running a team with the NYG. He has two rings to show for it.
“Ramsey, though, was great at communicating” lmao
Being a Jaguars fan and an Ottawa Senators fan over the past 4 years has been a real roller coaster. Would love to see one on the Sens collapse after the 2017 conference finals as well
People underrate how important "Glue" players like Paul are to a team. We saw players talk about him in the media as the video pointed out, but I saw Jacksonville fans similarly torn up by his retirement. He seemed very beloved in a way some of us from afar are just too far away to understand.
I’m just hoping they don’t waste Trevor Lawrence’s career.
Ya us too
If Lawrence spends his whole career there, that'll be his choice. He'll only be as good as the team they put around him.
This team was destroyed when the idiot GM gave Bortles a FAT contract which he CLEARLY didn't deserve. The players who they should have payed they did not. That was the DEMISE OF THAT TEAM!!
Alt title: How Sacksonville became Sucksonville
Even as of Feb. 2021, the 2017-18 season seems like a long time ago. I can't believe how quickly things fell apart on the First Coast!
I look forward to new content dropping gentlemen. Well done as always!
My cousin has been a Jacksonville fan for as long as I can remember. He’s still speechless over how all of this went down
i sat at that afc championship and balled my eyes out. this organization killed itself. culture change is needed. i will forever be a jags fan but god is it hard to watch a team who doesn’t know how to be a team. go jags always!! duvallllllll
when you lose to danny "jerry rice in the playoffs" amendola
On god go look up the 2014 ravens playoff game he made so many plays that game, I legit think he was the difference.
It is really up to Trevor Lawrence to save this entire franchise.
If he's as incredible in the NFL as he was at Clemson, I wouldn't be surprised to see both the Jags and Browns in the playoffs this season
Well, they didnt give him a good coach and it appears they're sticking with the one year wonder.
Agree the Jaguars future is going to be bright
They signed a good amount of guys this offseason. They’ll be vastly improved
Nah, they got Tebow too
ive actually been waiting on this no 🧢
I have been trying not to watch this a lifetime Jags fan. I finished watching the whole thing and man... what could have been.
Awesome work! We have a lot to looks forward too. T. Law , free agents & a slew of draft picks. You might be an ascending one for the Jag in a couple of years.
Great video guy.
I'd love to see a video about the Texas Rangers of the early to mid 2010s. From back to back world series appearances to getting eliminated twice by the blue jays in dramatic fashion to falling off the face of the earth. I think it would make for a great video
Not even a Jags fan but damn this one is gonna hurt especially now that Tampa Bay is in the Super Bowl IN TAMPA!
I live here in Duval and this is all true. The only thing he forgot about the London England incident. Good video bro.
What incident?

@@phillyphilly__lii5653 No more like jags are small market team and the Patriots gotta protect their dynasty.
@@aryksanchez5070 Brady had 15 stiches in his throwing hand and the Jags took there foot off the gas regardless of the fumble blown dead. Need to admit this was a huge choke job by the Jags.
Help from the Refs did the Jags in. Still bitter about that game.
@@rikahicks8193 cry about it, jags always have been and always will be a loser franchise and has no reason being there anyways

Same 😔
Every time I think of the jags, Jason from the good place comes to mind and I'm a fan of aew/tony kahn. It's hard to believe they had an amazing team for a minute.
I didn’t check when this video was made before watching it and LOL’d HARD when Urban’s face came up. Yeah, his collapse definitely caused everyone to forget the last three years 😂
I’d love to see more Collapse episodes for English football clubs. The way a team can completely fall off in England is insane and kinda sad.
To start, how about Newcastle? They went from finishing 5th in the Premier League in 2012 to relegation in 2016.
(Free-agent signings helped too)
Looking forward to seeing a collapse video about the Philadelphia Eagles. Fastest team I’ve ever seen from Super Bowl to loosing record.
4 playoff appearances out of 5 years isn’t that bad lol
As a day one Jag fan, my eyes roll every min of this video
