    This trip down memory lane almost brought me to tears. If I remember right, Cam was on fire in 2018, as good as his MVP year (if not better with CMC demanding defensive attention) up until that arm injury. This video broke my heart and what could have been. When you look at the weapons Cam had in 2015 compared to 2018, it makes you think what might have been. Cam was a force of nature and carried the Panthers to the Super Bowl in 2015 with a worn down J-Stew and a bunch of receivers who would have been on another team's practice squad. In 2018, the Panthers finally started to add weapons on offense beside Greg Olsen adding DJ Moore and CMAC. But Cam was injured all the time and the offensive line was horrible. Now, we're in a full on rebuild

      Jonathan Stewart ran for 989 yards, while averaging 4 yrds a carry. Worn down? That was the first season he had 230 plus carries in his career..... that oline was top notch..... while his receivers weren't the best (they were still ted ginn jr and Devin funchess..... both still in the league btw), he had a top TE in the game in Greg Olsen and an offense to suit his strong points.... not to mention that defense was ridiculously good. He had a great season stat wise sure, but Cam has never been a pure quarterback.... he's always been an extraordinary athlete playing the position

      @Jpforney 4 года назад +10

      @@dnice2000 J-Stew had a good year in 2015 but it was clear that he was starting to lose a bit of burst before the foot injury. And even at J-Stew's best, Stewart < CMC. I though I mentioned that Cam had Greg Olsen. For some reason, I always forget about Ginn, he was crucial in stretching the field which allowed better running lanes for Cam and Stewart. The Panthers seriously missed Ginn after he left for NO and he was never replaced until Curtis Samuel showed up.
      There was no doubt that the defense was elite from 2012 to about 2017 but the Panthers needed the offense to carry its weight for the team to reach its full potential.

Once that happened it was a wrap. He's just not a great pocket guy..... switching gears, cmc is far and beyond me than Stewart absolutely! I think the Panthers moving on from Cam was a good move though, acknowledging a much needed rebuild.

    It would be interesting to one on the seahawks, like a sort of anti collapse, they had all the factors and events that cause a team to collapse but didn’t. It’d be interesting

    • @tommyl.dayandtherunaways820
      @tommyl.dayandtherunaways820 3 года назад +5

      The Seahawks have definitely fallen off considering what the expectations for them were. In 2013-14, people thought they were unstoppable and expected them to go to the super bowl every year. Then for the next few years they regressed to become divisional round fodder, and recently they have become wild card fodder. And Wilson isn’t getting any younger. It’s been slow, to be sure, more like a gradual deterioration than a sudden critical failure, but they haven’t been a serious super bowl threat since 2014. I wouldn’t say they were quite an anti-collapse

    • @coruscant100

      I do think the Seahawks have pretty much collapsed. The team has gone from being the Legion of Boom to the Legion of Gloom now. A team that lacks any kind of fire at all. Coaching decisions were awful. Wilson has fallen off course and hasn't really been the same guy. The team has truly fallen apart from being NFC West favorites to now being basement dwellers.

    • @yuchenchen8012

      The bills decline is honestly pretty straight forward. Veteran players got too old and the franchise never found replacements for them.
      After the 4 super bowl appearances , they were still perennial playoff contenders, making the playoffs in 1995, 1996, 1998, and 1999. They even had a 11-5 season in 1999 and were on the verge of defeating eventual AFC champion Tennessee Titans until the music city miracle happened. However, masking all that was the fact that all the veterans that played through the superbowl were seriously aging. Some of them like Bruce Smith, Andre Reed, Thurman Thomas, and Jim Kelly continued to play decently after the superbowls, but were all aging by that point. Kelly retired after losing the Wild card game in 1996, and Bruce, Andre, and Thurman all left after the 1999 season. All three soon retired after playing just a short while with other teams. It doesn't help that all these players left right when the Brady dynasty began, giving the bills no room to breath in the division.

    The Adelaide crows afl team have a very interesting collapse story. They had an excellent game plan, high scoring style, the iconic power stance pre game ritual, and were favourites to win the Grand Final (super bowl). Then, after a 48 point loss, the team went on a camp organised by the guy who created the power stance. This camp was basically just psychological torture. Players had their phones taken, couldn’t talk to family, got yelled at by men in military uniforms with weapons, got abuse yelled at them by teammates, got tied to trees, had a racist welcome to country (Australian Aboriginal traditional ceremony), got blindfolded and driven to a mystery location, and ran hundred meter sprints over and over, all while the club song of the team they lost to, Richmond, played at full volume. Their team fell apart completely after this, losing games left and right. They’ve been missing the playoffs every year, losing to bitter rivals Port Adelaide by 75 points, and, six weeks into the 2020 season, haven’t won a single game.

      Officially, he's had 2 concussions. That injury in 2017 was never actually diagnosed as one. And he played all 16 games the last 2 seasons. But I think last year just broke him. They forced him into that hybrid 3-4 defense which typically relies on bigger, stronger ILBs instead of rangy sideline to sideline guys like Kuechly, and then they continued to insist on playing that defense even after losing their best lineman in Short and only real NT in Poe. Kuechly was getting hammered by offensive linemen on every play because the defensive line was terrible. And in addition to having to be the primary run-stopper, he was at worst the 3rd best cover guy on the team depending on how Bradberry and Boston were playing on a given day. Dude just got sick of playing football, and I honestly can't say I blame him.

    • @cannedpeachez
      @cannedpeachez 4 года назад +4

      I have to expect he was just pissed off to be forced to shoulder the mistakes of our D-Line after Rivera (Tepper?) forced that switch to the hybrid 4-3 defense. That whole season was just Luke chasing down people he should never have even had to worry about.

      @@cannedpeachez On paper, they actually had a really good group of personnel to run both schemes as long as nobody got hurt. But Short was absolutely critical as the only guy who could legitimately swing between 4-3 DT and 3-4 DE and be a force in both. As soon as he went down, they should've just given up anything to do with a 3-man front.

    I remember the day Manning announced he was gonna retire. I looked right at my wife and said "Bronco's are gonna win the Super Bowl this year no matter what". Sure enough Panthers and Broncos are matched against one another. To no one's surprise every time the Panthers got within the 25 on Broncos a foul was called and it was always a 10 yard plus penalty. I for one didn't blame Cam for not jumping on that fumble. With how much and how often the Broncos were personally fouling the Panthers and the refs were never calling it I would be terrified to jump into a pile of them lol. Cam would go in healthy and come out with a broken arm, leg, clavicle, ribs and etc. You could tell that the Panthers were mentally defeated after the first half. You could see in their faces that they knew that no matter what they did they would never be allowed to win this game. This game, that super bowl firmly belonged to Manning given it was his last season.

      Glad someone will be blunt and call it like it is.. Denver had a lot of help that night. Peyton was flat out garbage in that game and couldn't do anything on Carolina until late when they got demoralized after the offense kept blowing chunks. That missed call on the pass from Newton to Jericho Cotchery in the 1st quarter was flat out horseshit; he had the ball and even the awful CBS dude knew it. That to this day is the angeriest I've ever gotten over a call.. no excuse for it being missed that badly. Sadly it's one of a trend from several of the 2010 decade SB games that refs missed. It's getting too convenient to not spot. If we had been allowed to keep that call we woulda had some momentum on them and we woulda at least got 3 if not 7. If that had happened it woulda been a ball game. Denver knew they had to play dirty because if we had played at our best and smartest we woulda out hit them and eventually wore them down. It doesn't matter how good their D or Miller was they all woulda got broke by the end. We did score with Stewart but that took way too long.. the damage was done. The whole ass kissing spectacle for Peyton and the convenient huddle of cameras there at the end was pathetic. It reems of being sketchy and i honestly couldn't congratulate them at the end because it felt dirty.
      That whole Super Bowl sucked the mother load.. why they chose San Fran to host it I have no idea. The 50th anniversary ceremony sucked; the halftime show was horrendously bad (Coldplay got pushed to the side for Beyonce and it turned into a propaganda show to boot,) that whole day was a fail from start to end. Carolina got brainwashed by the attention and culture out there too.. all I could see on the local news was Snoop Dogg hanging with them and i got nervous. They got big headed epically and they were doomed even then.

After one awful (tanking?) season in 2011, they bounced back with a new franchise quarterback, and have only had one truly bad losing season since then (4-12 in 2017), with two division titles, two wild card berths, four playoff wins, and three seasons at or just below .500. That's more success than what a lot of teams experience.

    Sooo many emotions right now. I love the Panthers and LOVED that we drafted Cam Newton. We never gave him a true chance to be Great. The 2015 was the best o-line Cam ever had (FINALLY) and he finally got CMC and DJ then *peace* ! I’m still a die hard Panthers fan but I also hope Cam comes back and WINS!
