    I buy my chicken feed for our little side business in bulk but we use those terra-cotta barrels to store it. It's a lot cheaper that way plus we can get non GMO grains that way.

    We have feed mills like this all over parts of CA, out in the san joaquin valley, not so much in the bay area where i live. we also have a few Blue Diamond facilities where they process all the almonds. i've always wanted to see inside and see it in action, so thank you that was super cool seeing the guys filling the bag. 👍🏻👍🏻

    In ariz you have to get 5 ton min but it is 11$ a 50 at the feed stores its 200 miles to get in bulk but there it is 13 a 100 so several of use go in together and get a load

      andrew sanders That's super smart! I'd like to start doing people-food grains, beans, flour and whatnot that way. I don't exactly need 100lbs of rice, or anything for that matter, nor do I have the space for it, but if I could split it with 1 or 2 other people, that would be ideal.

    Forty year old okie here and have never been able to get to hunt for deer. Done quail, rabbit, squirrel, pheasant, a lot of small game when I was young hunting with my dad. Deer is one of those that you have to know someone with land to do it. I have really wanted to get my two sons out and deer hunt. Just don't know anyone with land. Hunting is getting to where it is only for the ones with connections anymore. Truly a dying sport. All you can do now is watch the lucky ones on tv and RUclips that can.

    I saw this today and felt a huge drop on my stomach. I never thought about baiting deer, they are so prolific in Virginia, I could shoot 30 at once in my yard. I always thought of the joy of deer meat and it being organic beef, basically free, minus cost of gun, bullets, time to butcher. My heart is racing thinking of deer digesting GMO corn. I am not blaming you, I love your informative videos and your willingness to share your life and farming. It's just that today I realized how far-reaching genetically modified foods can go, even to wildlife, and how sad it is that our world is being poisoned. Best wishes to you.

    • @kath5201
      @kath5201 3 года назад

      Its field dried. With whatever they put on it at the time. The ears are protected by the husks, which split when ripe, and long after any chemical applications; the corn grains are fairly clean. Washing them would cause them to rot in storage.

    • @TheKristenGibson

      Zach Bailey if you like lab created food. One of the companies that created GMO corn also created agent orange, PCB's (which poisoned an entire city as well as millions of people), they also created dangerous pesticides. These companies don't have your health in mind, so don't be fooled. In fact, the roundup (used on GM roundup ready crops) is highly poisonous and damages gut flora. It's been listed as a carcinogen. Genetically modified food was made for profit. The farmers have to purchase the seed year after year, rather than saving seed. Anytime you alter food in a laboratory there isn't a good outcome. Just remember the same company killed millions with agent orange, PCBs, roundup, and other toxic chemicals. In no way is genetically modified food "better" or healthier. It's disastrous.

      Another elitist jerk heard from...Some people hunt for sport some for meat, it's just that simple..I never liked hunting for me it was a choir,a job and little more. I grew up rural and there was little time for farting around, The work deeds came first and what time was left over was yours, there was damn little of it. Hence the saying "How ya gonna keep them down on the farm". The life style is not a hobby,not a sport and certainly not for the weak of heart and back.

      Oak trees produce acorns in 20-30 years. I am sure he and his children would like some food in the mean-time. Also, planting trees that take 30 yrs to produce in an area where they are not would still be baiting. And exactly how much meat do you think you can buy for $129? The stand looks to be made from salvaged materials good for him. But it could be a simple trough. Do you fish? Do you bait the hook? This IS land management.

      Rick J: Your father and Grandfather obviously had other options. My Grandfather was given 3 bullets, so were each of his brothers. If they came back with only one kill they had better have two more bullets. There were 12 of them. They had over 20 mouths to feed with elders, women and children too small to hunt. You best believe they had other methods of obtaining kills: Cage Traps, Wire and Spike Snares, deadfalls, feed bins and I even had one Great-uncle who got so many whippin's for wasting bullets he got good with home-made bow and arrows. And NO they were not allowed to "waste" bullets on rabbits or squirrels. Baiting is allowed in some states where the population of deer are high enough to not only justify it but to need it. Unless you and your father and Grandpa were hunting with knives you had an advantage that I am sure the deer thought of as unfair. Plenty of families were raised to thank the spirit of the animal for its gift to their family regardless of the SKILL used to obtain it. Now if you only hunt bulls (moose) and bucks (caribou/mule/whitetail) and there is no forage replaced, offered or seeded; What do you leave for the cow, dams and doe's? Nothing. You take their protection and provider and leave them with a fear that tells them this area is dangerous and to move on. But people who sow corn or plant deer plots or leave bucket feeders help to propagate the venison population by providing food for the surviving populations which keeps them coming back. Research and education is also a skill. It sometimes matters more than blindly believing in our Grandfathers just because Grandpa can't be shown the "disrespect" of telling him there MIGHT be a better way. There is a better way.

      You need to understand that not all counties are the same. I'm NOT gonna drive 100 miles to go hunting when I can bait them pre season to get them coming to me!
      In my state your allowed to bait pre season but you better get that picked up before actual season starts. By then they will come back for awhile to see if that magical bait pile came back. 😀
      Hope this helps clarify that not everybody has the same values, tips or hunting tricks.

      Yeah, but isnt gmo means its genes are spliced with, say, a duck? What are we eating? A pig/tomato? With regular fruits, veggies, and now people; you get just that. With GMO, you have no idea what is in that apple. Seaweed??

      If you don't mind me asking what do you feed your goats. I am going to be getting goats and I find you so inspiring to watch. But I have been looking for ever to see what the best food to feed goats are so if you don't mind giving me the brand name of the company it would be highly appreciated .
