I making this choice as we speak. This was helpful. Thanks! I like the Ikon most on your demo but judging thu YT is a crapshoot, so when you gave your opinion in the comments that was also helpful!! Many Toobers end with "So what do U think?" I hate that and it's not helpful. When they play that sh!t i reciprocate with a downvote. But yours is actually helpful. Bravo!🎖
Thank you very much! And I am happy this was helpful… there’s another thing I think I didn’t point out: the Ikon for me holds a lot better chords and clusters, it has more clarity and definition and you can hear better the single voices in a chord. I think this has something to do with harmonic distortion produced by the pedals but I might be wrong…
@@ludocipriani Awesome to hear, that is something I need to preserve in my rig. Going to order the Ikon and compare to the Tumnus deluxe, also considering the Golden Horse...so many klone options, what would you stack with the ikon? I love your playing, very melodic and harmonic...
Fisrt of all thank you! I don't really stack drive that much, never found something really working for me, I always end up with muddy low-end and strange mids... Maybe I don't really know how to do it. King of tone and Archer stacked are not bad in my case but, again, I rarely find a use for that to make it preferable to single drives...
@@ludocipriani I'm just starting my pedal journey, but enjoying all the different options/combinations. I found my ikon->Big Muff Triangle to give me incredible marshall-like crunch from my sss strat through princeton reverb. I saw a YT'er run centaur->centaur and it was pretty magical. Any time I've gotten muddy sounds (like when I first ran the ikon-> bigmuff), dialing up the treble (like on ikon) or setting the eq signal before it gets there seemed to help a lot. Cheers my friend!
Good comparison. Whenever I hear a Klon or a klone, I can't help wonder what the deal is. They sound good, but it always comes down to the player. Good player makes good sounds, less talented player makes less good sounds. I'm a big believer that there is no magic equipment, just magic players.
and the real Klon's aren't worth anywhere near $5-8K either. I have the IKON and love the hell out of it and yes, it's all about the player and very little to do with the circuit.
I’ve got both…for what it’s worth: Archer is a better stacker IMO and the RYRA is a better stand alone overdrive. The RYRA has more beefiness (more lows and lower mids) and the Archer is a little less compressed. Great demo and comparison!
Thank you! Overall I prefer the Archer, I prefer its tighter lows… they are very similar tho. I should have used my 335 too… that was a mistake cause I think the difference is more pronounced…
I’ve never played a real Klon 😅 so I can’t really tell. I like them both but I think I prefer the Archer. To my ears it has rounder highs and tighter bass frequencies… I don’t know, it feels better to me. If the Ryra is closer to the Klon then I prefer the Archer over the Knon 😅 PS: mi sa che sei italiano?
Ikon is sweeter and warmer. Less bass, touch more upper mids. Ryra seemed louder more bass. Little harder and not quite as smooth. To be honest, I think the ikon is more unique for what it does. Really down to taste
Perfect comparison dude, thanks!
Thank you man! 🙏🏾

Thank you! And I agree with everything you said…

I much prefer the tone of the Archer Ikon, in this comparison video at least.

Hard to hear differences here.. What do you think? Which one is the closest to the Centaur in your opinion?

Totally agree…
