what about the smaller pro iphone and pixel 8? i’d love to see a battery test on those
Not fair since 15 pro screen is much smaller and nearly 2k less mah
pixel 8, not pro goofy
@@RyansTechReviews29its just 0,1" bigger on the Pixel 8
@@GAMERGEBITER it should go against the 15 base

Just a suggestion but during the RUclips section of the test the Pixel had Ambient Mode on and the iPhone did not. Meaning the iPhone gets to turn off some of its screen, at least for a little while. I know the Pixel is literally never gonna win but I just wanted to say that.
i think its a valid point!
Agreed could have been maybe the difference between 1% not enough to make a significant difference but every bit counts.
I've noticed the black screen on the iPhone and grey screen on the Pixel
I am surprised the P8 Pro lasted that long.
🤮🤮🤣
It's on WiFi. It would be dead when the iPhone was 40% if it was on 5g
@@RealShaktimaan here we go "it's on WiFi" yeah I think the iPhone is also on WiFi here as well. Also in my personal experience with the pixel 8 pro the battery drain on mobile data isn't even that bad idk I will let you know what it's like when I have had more time with the phone but so far it's definitely way better then my s22+ which had a exynos 2200.
@@AssassinIsAfkboth are with wifi and he's still criticizing 😂😂 yeah one my get to drain faster if they are on mobile data though 😊
He is right though. My Pixel 7 Pro drains like crazy when using 5G connectivity. My 15 Pro barely drains when using 5G connectivity in the same area. I have not used a 8 Pro but they cheaped out on the modem again and used the same one as before. Well played, Google.
I not sure if it's been suggested.... Instead of Apple vs Android... I'd love to see Google Pixel 8 Pro vs S23 Ultra to give some perspective in performance for current flagships on the same OS.
Already knew the outcome, remember the using Pixel 6 Pro, coming from the 13 Pro Max and shocked at how bad the battery was on the Pixel.

Apple has a giant lead , imagine of Apple would put 5000 mAh batteries as their competitors ?? i wonder why they cannot do this ? i guess it because iphones have more components like satellite com, Bigger speakers, Face ID sensors and such , but it would be so cool.
Well, a reason why the probably wont do it is because they want to have the phones optimization do more of the work than rather just fitting in a larger battery. In someways its better, meaning the smaller battery = lighter phone. But maybe they just have their own ways of doing things. But its working so Im not complaining lol
bro 99% of ppl want bigger battery @@puffminister
@@puffministerthe weight is approximately the same as the S23 U. And that does even have proper cooling + bigger battery, unlike the iPhone. There isn't really a reason to not do it.
It's heavy af already, putting a larger battery will make it even more chunky
How about getting a job and stop using your phone all the time? Who in the hell needs 10 12 hours SOT a day? Even if you get back home with 60% you are gonna charge it for the next day. This is all psychological, you ain't gonna leave your House without full battery. 5000 mah battery means a bigger phone and less money for them.
Many will focus on the fact that Apple won this test (which is true); but this is a huge improvement for Pixels/Android as it shows great improvements. Battery life on the P8 Pro is definitely good. There was a point when 16 hours of standby would destroy a pixel phone
Definitely enough to last most people all day.
phonebuff style is the only way to go...love your style and tests keep going😍
Hey david,if you want to do some crazy testing ,you can compare iPhone 15 pm with a galaxy f62 with massive 7000 mah battery+ less energy efficient exynos 9825 to see who wins. I know f62 is no flagship but i think its the most battery centric phone ever released . Would love to see the comparison as i previous had galaxy f62 but now switched to poco f5 .
He should compare it with the iPhone 15+ since the iPhone 15+ can last 1hour30mins more than the pro max, in the mrwhosetheboss video that I watched
If memory serves, some Galaxy M series device had 7,000 mAh battery not the F62.
@@random_person618Breh... M series and F series are just copies of each other. M62 & F62 are the only phones that have 7000mah

@PhoneBuff , The RUclips test was not fair. The Pixel has Ambient Mode on, which in my exprience, consumes way more battery. On the iPhone it is off.
Thank you for your hard work!
You should probably make both phones have the same gesture controls as well, as the swiping one uses more battery and CPU than the buttons...

Awesome video, can you do another with the regular pixel 8?
Ambient mode in RUclips on pixel is on whereas it's off on the iphone. 3:24
Ambient mode activates extra pixels and consumes energy. While it's off, pixel are not working on OLED panels. It is minor thing, but you should consider that for the next time.
I have tested ambient mode on my Pixel 7 Pro, and it makes no discernible difference to the battery. They obviously use algorithms to prevent too much extra power needed.

I just got the 8 pro and absolutely love it.
I have been a strict Samsung user since the Galaxy S3 so this is my first Pixel phone.
And so far after a week of use, I can say I have no desire to go back to Samsung whatsoever.
Can you also do the same test for the base pixel 8 and base iphone 15
You all should keep in mind that this battery test on the iPhone was on iOS 17.0.2 it is not a new video for the iPhone. Or at least as close to each other as possible.

Waiting for 15 pro vs 15 max battery 🔋 test !!!!!
Super weird that you didn't use the default Pixel 8 Pro resolution, instead opting to use the full res option. The default res is a bit lower and could have helped with battery life in this scenario. So it's odd that you decided to max it out to do a test instead of relying on default settings.
Would be Nice if you had a list at end of video off all Phones 1.2.3...
Fun fact: Android has adaptive battery, so it will take nearly 1/2 weeks to get your profile and optimize the battery...
Some months ago I saw a guy with a Pixel 7 and I was like "doesn't it have bad battery life?" and he showed me his daily usage of 1,5 days with an high usage of socials and video playback...

As a certified iPhone hater 😂, when I switched from my note 10+ to my 14PM, battery life has become the most important factor when buying a phone, the 14PM literally lasts 2 days on a single charge and I never think about charging until it’s below 10% or less. iPhone battery life is an industry standard that Android manufacturers should follow. I still hate a lot of iPhone ecosystem restrictions but damn the battery is soo good.
It is funny how much other haters can bash on apple for doing something wrong, even when theyre doing it perfectly fine, if not, well

The RUclips test was not fair. The Pixel has Ambient Mode on, which in my exprience, consumes way more battery. On the iPhone it is off.
I am an Android user (OnePlus). I think Google Pixel is a system and a camera. I really do not feel the quality of this device since its release! Maybe I'm wrong, but this is really how I feel when I see comparisons of this device!
Of course.
Pixel only got one update since its launch, lets see after the November patch, how it goes.
My Pixel 7 Pro improved battery with updates over the year, so I hope to see the same with the Pixel 8 Pro.
Bezels on both phones are very similar 🤔
It is insane that Apple barely increase the battery, but newer iPhone always have decent battery life. Except the 12 of course.
Because apples software/hardware is leagues ahead.
Because their Software and hardware blend works like bread and butter
One thing all these tests omit is the customisable factor of Android phones. I have a Pixel 8 Pro and if I want an extra 20 to 30% battery, i can take out all gestures and the high refresh rate and I get two full days of usage easily. My girlfriend has a 7a and it's the same story.
My gandma uses a15 Pro (she still loves iphones) and we were on holiday last week where hers was done by the end of the day whereas our Pixels were on 30 to 40%..
Excellent test. But the first part with the phone call is unfair when the Pixel doesn't have a dark mode set.
The screens remain off for most of the phone test. We show the parts where it is on in the video to help people understand what’s going on.

in the RUclips test the pixel had ambient mode on so the sides weren't black like the iphone

You're going to cry😢
@@rrageneral1499it also causes the processor to have to use additional battery to animate the effect
It would make a difference but won't make an indent on the iPhone.
Would you please do the test with 5G Cellular signal instead of Wifi? I'm using Pixel 8 Pro and it's crazily sucking up the battery when I need to stay with 5G in daily life. My old iPhone 13 Pro Max's battery is still winning the latest Pixel 8 Pro in terms of battery usage.
the problem is, that android 14 is very unoptimized as it hasn't been out for too long

By far the fastest drain I’ve seen with the iPhone is when you play re village. That game just seeps the battery.
This is not the right time to test We need to wait until the Nov security update patch then we need to test the other hand the ip15p got r updates after the release 😢 then what???
Will brigness level did you have each phone that has a lot to do with battery life
Aa a former iphone user who finally made the switch to p8p its worth noting the pixel drains SIGNIFICANTLY faster when using data as opposed to wifi
IDEA Battery test!
- Screen Touch Sampling Rate. (Root needed, so probably not worth it, but havent seen any Tests or discussions)
- Underclocking CPU by 10%, Top Frequency usually most drain (Root needed, so probably not worth it, but maybe UC will be Standard at some point, Samsung kind of has it)
Gracias por el video, planeaba comprar Pixel 8 Pro, pero iphone 15 PM tiene mejor rendimiendo de bateria.
If doing such a test you should know you can't go on the percentage shown. The % drop shown by apple is totally off in other tests. Time when it shuts down or looking at the actual mah left would be the way for testing.

i gotta say...the 15 pro max is just such a pretty phone. it feels like peak refinement of the iphone and really stands out next to the google pixel. and i'm saying this as a current android user 😅
I dunno. Apple has been stuck with the same essential design since 2017 and it's pretty antiquated in my mind. That being said, I like how it looks more than the 8 pro
It looks the exact same as the 14 PM
Nah it's a big fugly brick. The pixel is stunning.
@@iMrParkerbro most brands are doing the same like pixel 8 pro isn’t much different from 7 pro similarly S22, S23 & upcoming S24 all have almost similar design.
It’s fucking identical to the 14 Pro Max, I saw one in person the other day the smaller bezels on the 15 is so minimal. You’ll see a huge different with the iPhone 16 Ultra because it’ll have a bigger 6.9 inch screen.
"Britney Knives" and "Britney Spears" LOL
Where is your all hype Android God now 🎤🤣
Obviously the iPhone is going to have a longer lasting battery. I'd be disappointed if Apple pumped billions on R&D each year and iPhone's SOC wasn't great. However my Pixel 8 Pro lasts me all day and has features like call screening and a clean UI not to mention Android being more flexible that makes me stick with a Pixel. I'm sure iPhones and Galaxys are great phones though, I just think the Pixel's shorter battery gets played up a lot when 7-8 screen on time at the end of the day is great for me.
I think "it lasts all day" is one of the most useless things someone can say about phone battery life without giving some context. What do you consider all day? 12 hours? 16 hours? What did you do during the 7-8 hours of screen on time? Lower battery usage stuff like browsing, social media, messaging, etc or higher battery usage stuff like streaming video, camera, navigation, etc? And finally, the MOST IMPORTANT thing, how much of the day was on wifi vs mobile data?
If you were doing a mix of heavy battery stuff and light battery stuff and you were off the charger for like 16 hours on mobile data the entire time (NO WIFI) and you still got 7-8 hours of screen on time that's excellent. However if you were doing mostly light battery stuff and were on wifi the entire time then 7-8 hours of screen on time is terrible.
@@jimv1983 Those are good points. Battery usage does have many variations and by your definition my battery usage has been light as I mostly watch RUclips, scroll reddit on Infinity, and do some other stuff like Duolingo or some Tycoon games. I do half and half on wifi and data. I charge the phone when I go to bed so as long as it doesn't die midday it gets the job done.
I know the efficiency is way higher on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Bionic chips but I'm just too in love with Pixel's touches that those higher efficiency doesn't justify me switching over. I do own a Galaxy Tab S9+ and I do like how power and efficient it is, but I wouldn't want its flavor of Android on my phone. One UI is very customizable and utilitarian, but not as elegant as I would like
@@pidiameter8917 I like at that Pixel stuff too. I've owned six smart phones my entire life. Five of those were Google phones (either Nexus or Pixel) and it's been ten years since I had a non-Google phone. The thing is as much as I like that software experience it doesn't matter if the phone is dead.
Any battery life reviews that include being on wifi any more than maybe an hour over a 16 hour period are completely useless in my opinion.
@@jimv1983 let's be real: How long are you on 5G during the day? For me, it's around 2 hours during public transport commuting, mainly listening to music anyway. That's it. At home? WiFi, obviously. At work? WiFi. In the mall? Public WiFi.
That said, I deactivated 5G on my Pixel 8 Pro regardless, because I literally gain absolutely nothing from using 5G instead of LTE. Would've done on any other phone as well. Therefore, I gain around another hour of SOT battery life 😁👍
@@BVZTIII how long am I on mobile data (not just 5G but mobile data in general)? It depends on the day. On work days not much. On those days I'm on wifi mostly. But on those days I don't care about battery life anyways because I'm either at home or at the office where I'm right next to a charger anyways. I only care about battery life when I'm NOT near a charger. Days like weekends and vacations. Days where I am on mobile data the entire day. Are those the majority of my days? Of course not, but they are common enough that battery life in those situations definitely matters. It's really the only battery life that matters to me.
I disagree that there is nothing to gain from 5G. 5G is about more than just speed. It's also about latency and capacity. Plus, figuring out the right option in the preferred network type is a hassle as well as remembering the right one to change it back to if I want to re-enable 5G.
How about a drop test
Considering pixel still uses a very hot running custom exynos. Not bad actually.
Got the Pixel 8 Pro. Sure, objectivly the iPhone is the better device, but when considering i got a free Pixel Watch 2 and sold it, i payd 869€ for the P8P, the iPhone 15PM with same storage would have cost me 1449€ here in germany. Considering this, im still good with the Pixel.
You only get that on pre-order; for the rest of the year and the vast majority of Pixel 8 buyers that is moot.
Also remember that Apple users over time will complain that their battery drains quickly while the pixels adaptive charging and battery saver will keep it in good knick .
@@andyH_England I would not have bought the pixel without the pre order deal. Would have gone with the S23U or waited for the S24 series
Just because you have a bigger battery doesnt mean youre going to win. Ultimately it comes down to software- which Apple has mastered to be super efficient and work with every part of their product.
Pixel 8 has some bugs that eats battery away, pixel phones always do better in RUclips but here it used way too much battery, hope December update will fix battery.
I wish Apple spend all rnd money on battery technology for 1-2 years to improve efficiency more.
Why there is no speed test comparison between iphone 14 series and 15 series??
Why not test mail and maps with their native apps? If Apple has more optimized versions of their own apps wouldn’t that be more efficient?
Please mention the OS version in each test
They did at the beginning.

15 plus vs 15 PM battery!
It was okay when the pixel was way cheaper but know we expect more from it!
What I learned from this video, "No one should be on instagram for more than 3 hours a day."
I used to have an LG G3 with an extended battery. It was about 7500 mah and you could finish some days with over 80 percent left. It took 5 hours to charge back up again but the main downside was weight and thickness. It was nice to hold a phone that thick especially when taking photos but not so good in your pocket or making a call. Reckon that would give the iPhone pro max a run for it's money. Then there was the LG G5 and it's modular battery. I could charge 2 of those up and get 5 hours screen on time. Yep. Absolutely crap battery life on that phone. But I had 4 at one point so always could top straight back up to 100 percent in 10 seconds! Imagine a removable battery in a modern more efficient smartphone.
Optimization is key!!
Yes and No.
It about how you control developers.
And it way more easy to keep update with new version of iOS than Android.
One month later. Still a lot of apps don't fully support Android 14.
Apps quality is the key.
I was expecting a bigger margin even as an android guy for some reason.

Nobody really hates the pixel. I used the pixel and I hate some of the shortcoming. I don't want to compare that to the iPhone because I don't use it but comparing to the s23 ultra the pixel lineup still has a lot of problems. For example battery life, charging speed, connectivity, bugs. I tried my best to make my pixel phone to be my main driver but those things that I listed above are the reason why I keep coming back to my s23 ultra. Connectivity is the number one thing that keeps me from using the pixel. I need to have reliable connectivity all the time.
@hienho15 interesting about connectivity. I have not had connectivity problems with my pixel 7 pro or 8 pro. My 7 pro got data when my iPhone 13 pro max couldn't.
However, I still went back to my s23u. It has the best overall set of strengths for me. Also in real life nothing beats the battery on the s23u. Not even the 13 pro max.
