Thanks for the vid. Saved me a lot of money and/or frustration. Instead of buying the 0 degree mount I was able to bend a 11 degree angle on the end of the 1” pvc to counter the mount that came with the unit.

This looks great. I plan to run mine as a portable setup in the boat as well as ice hut. I'll come up with some kind of spreader to swap out for the ram mount when I need to dunk this in a hole through the ice.

This video is old, but I just got a live scope for my Garmin 93SV. You info has been very helpful for rigging a DIY system for the live scope. The best tip was the zero degree offset mount. Thanks!

Great idea! I've been looking for a simple way to mount my transducer for my bow mount graph separate from my Motorguide Xi5. I looks like you must use the internal transducer on the motor.

Ram has a beefy one foot long 2 inch ball mount. It works great. I switched my graphs to a 48 inch tall mounts, just to be able to not beat my neck up so badly.
The very first diy with the kayak fisherman is good for exact cuts. A little sloppiness in the ram mount is actually good in my opinion. You can make fine adjustments with it that way and if you hit a stump with the transducer it will give. I might suggest bringing it up the bottom of the pole, so if you hit something the shaft and not ducer hits.

Nice rigging! Have you thought about putting on the Perspective mount? As far as content, I would be interested in hearing your perspective on finding fish. You could do a video on each major species. You seem really good at getting on biting fish.
Not yet. I don't really see the Perspective mount benefitting me much as I fish much deeper than it excels at.

I have a ghost so I’d like to have it attached to it for controlling when I spot lock. I have seen plenty of DIY poles but none for attaching to the trolling motor. Thanks.

I’ve been using a SeeLite pole for 2 years now. The ram mount is fine if you’re on a budget but is otherwise trash. Constantly flexes. Better to spend good money on a reputable livescope pole like SeeLite.

Did this tonight and my pvc keeps locking up when you trunk the handle Even without u bolts on it I greesed it and oiled it but still binds up now I'm gonna have to figure something else out the scotty mount alone was 30 bucks 😢

@@KansasAnglingExperience Out of curiosity, what size screws did you for mounting the ball joint aparatus to the side of the boat? Found the parts at Loews in Canada for roughly $80, but it beats buying the metal stuff by a long shot.
Mix some black petroleum dye with clear pvc cleaner and you can dye your pole assembly jet black!

I made one of these as well. Basically same set up except my 1 1/4 pvc doesn’t extend down as far as yours. I have a lot (almost too much) movement when the scope is deployed and using the trolling motor. The shaft moves backwards. Tried using a Scotty fishing pole holder for the. 1 1/4 pvc but it still had some movement. Not as much as the swivel ball mount though. How much does yours move when deployed and trolling?
Quite a bit so I try not to.
Is it the RAM mount that moves or the pvc that is flexing?
Might be a dumb question but we’re did you get the longer cable that goes from the box to the graph? I’m using the cable that come in the box and it’s only about 3 ft long.

I just saw this video and noticed you used tie-ties to hold your cable. Garmin says to not use tie-ties because they will crimp the cable wiring and cause interference. They say to use electrical tape instead. Have you found that the tie-ties cause you any interference issues?
I spoke too soon. I see you have a covering for your wires so that the zip ties do not pinch them

Schedule C I think but this video is very old and I don’t remember exactly.
The zero degree offset mount link is no longer active. Is there another zero degree offset that you would recommend for the DIY pole? There is the perspective mount on the Summit site now, but not sure if it does fwd and down vies or just perspective.
Garmin and Amazon both sell them.
What kind of live scope are you using. I see someone making a homemade version soon. 2,000 is out of my league

Question .. i mount the same way like yours, however, when i cruise at 1.5 mph , ram ball wont hold it in place.. the pvc keep moving back..how do you make it to stay in place?
You throw it away and buy a SeeLite pole.

nice job but for me the ram mount was not stable enough, I fish mostly in river and current makes it want to sit there and flex back and forth
Absolutely. In current there would be too much flex. Might have to secure it better or just buy a pre-fab mount like fishing specialties.
Can you rotate it without wire binding up? 360 or 180?
As long as you leave enough slack in the cable then of course you can.
How far in the water is the livescope supposed to be? Lower than the bottom of the boat? Can I measure while the boat is on the trailer?
It’s best to do that on the water.

It’s great if you’re on a budget but otherwise pretty shitty. Spend your money on a well built livescope pole like SeeLite, I have been running it for almost two years. Bulletproof.

Please don't use zip ties, they pinnch. Recommend just black duct tape. Thank you for addressing the zip tie issue. Well done. Also split the wires at any 90 degree turn. 4 have come back from cut/pinched wires in 30 days. Sweet rig.

@@CHIPPOFISHING that’s to be expected with a ram mount…it has nothing to do with the quality of RAM mounts. It’s not meant to be put under load, that’s why I run a SeeLite pole now.
PVC pipe isn't durable enough. If the boat moves too quickly, it bends.
1 1/4” PVC with 1” on the inside doesn’t bend…
Now just paint it black
Painting PVC properly takes way more time to cure than I have unfortunately.
