Great to see the honesty, most guys when you ask them how long they drive they add 30 - 40 yards further than they actually hit it. Just because you're bigger doesn't mean you'll be hitting 300 yard bombs. Great video, and nice to see a fellow 26 handicapper working!
I clicked onto your blog by chance and I must say I had a grin on my face all the way through the tuition! When James eventually followed through he was hitting the ball straighter and further than he did at the beginning of his lesson! Most of us try to hit the ball further with our strength, which results in us hitting at the ball and not through to our intended target, more so when we get older! I recon you will have James hitting the ball 275 ish yards! Your video was all action/tuition, some instructors just talk to much - you showed us results! FABULOUS!
I've taken some tips from the 5 crucial ones that Big Bri gave out ...so far I've introduced wider stance esp as I'm 6ft4 and a much stronger grip .. unbelievable results so far my fade come slice hardly shows up .Hitting longer straighter drives and getting some draw ..Thanks Big Bri 👍🏌️
Tried some of the tips in this video, and they work!!!!!, added at least 15 yards to my drives today and straight too, can't wait for the firmer fairways to get a bit of extra roll.
@@bryrobertslongdrive got my first eagle on the first hole, couldn’t believe it. Then my heart rate was jacked for the remaining 8 and technique went out the window.
Awesome video Bry! This is EXACTLY the kind of video I asked you for a couple months ago! Pretty sure I am setting up with shoulders towards the left, something for me to work on. 👍👍👍👍
Hey man! I saw you on the trackman leaderboards, and noticed you also play with foresight quad. What would you say are the differences between them? I've noticed a bit lower smash/efficiency on the gc3 but higher club speed (2-3%) vs trackman, so ball speed would pretty much still end up equal? What is your experience here, also higher club speed but lower smash?
Both are excellent launch monitors. They both just measure impact at a different point. Foresight with Camera’s and Trackman being radar. I’ve hit on both at the same time and seen very close numbers I just feel foresight is a little more accurate in my opinion.
Great video, Bry (not Brie as Liam calls you - the plonker)! Like quite a few others in the comments here, I think my driver slice might be due to my shoulders being open at address too. I need to go test it out now - to the driving range! Can't wait to see his progress to 18 handicap.
Awesome Bry. The shoulder angle is what I have to focus on constantly. I hit left handed even though I am right handed and the giant slice is my downfall. The shoulder check is now a part of my setup routine. Thank you so much and Happy New Year to you and yours.
problem with this vid is I'm in Canada and I live in a frozen wasteland with 3 feet of snow. I'm hoping to remember what I learned for April !then again, I subscribed ... so I'm sure to get more tips as time passes, thank you

Happy New Year Bry! That shoulder alignment tip is a new one for me! Makes absolute sense. I've seen people suggest dropping the right shoulder - maybe to force alignment or maybe to shift weight to the right leg - but not seen that explanation of aligning hips and shoulders. Thanks!
Give it a try mate 💪🏻 ye dropping the right shoulder allows my tilt with the driver for sure and more weight to the right but it’s never enough on its own. 😎
Excellent Bry. Sure James will get to 18 if not better before start of next season. PS what compression of ball do you use at the long drive comps and in your normal play? Cheers, Garry
Thanks mate 👍🏻 In my last LD comp we used a Wilson ball which was 85 compression and terrible for my speed. I am currently using the Bridgestone Tour BX and switch to Pro V1x here and there.
Will you do a video on grip pressure. I have a tendency to grip with my left hand closing the face causing a hooded hook. Any tips would be greatly appreciated
Thankyou for this video, as a relatively new comer to golf the driver is my worst club, constant slices and poor range.. (my 3 wood goes further off the deck lol) i took some of this info to the range today and was it hitting the ball a lot better! Still not consistent but its a start!
Great video and YES your right although short game is important if you haven’t got confidence/ability off the tee (with driver) it will be an struggle to improve
I'm the same height as James and also double joined in the elbow as he is, so a couple things that could help his journey. Relax that left arm off so the elbow rotates and point towards the target, and swing around the body. Learn to see what straight is. A lot of those shots were pulls.
@@bryrobertslongdrive isn't that still encouraging an over the top move? Agreed its a 1000x better than where he started. Hitting a push is going to be super tough for him.
Happy New Year Bry. I’m new to the channel and I like the content. My question is - would all of this translate to a senior golfer, off a similar handicap? I’m 6 foot and 13 stone. I have to be close to the ball but with long extension otherwise I get stuck I just brought the whip as well because my chicken arm is pulling in and not realising
Well ... first of all .. he towers over you.. his arms are longer than expected for his frame .. so if he just bunts (baseball term .. means taps lightly) the ball he's going to hit it 300 yards. The length of his swing arc must be enormous!!! Funny enough, he has one of the most non-athletic swings I've ever seen. If he learns coordination, he's going to be a monster.
This lesson is going to help me with slices and distance massively, very confident with that. Thanks a lot Bry.

when your coming in your down swing do you transfer any weight to your front foot or keep it all in your back foot ?
So the idea is to load the right leg (back foot) then stomp the left foot down on the downswing to allow the left side to clear more easily.
