Same! I got into Tallica because of Until it Sleeps, before that I wasn't even into rock. But I bought Load, then Reload and then went backwards through the albums. But Load and Reload are still my ground zero for Metallica.

This Outlaw Torn and Fixxxer from the load/reload albums are my fave. So glad James managed to push out a Fixxxer live this year before his voicebox was too old to do it! The high notes it has is crazy for his voice.
Don't see many reactions to Metallica's Load/Reload stuff. You're getting a like for doing just that. This just also happens to be one of my favorite songs from those albums. You should give the song "Fixxxer" a listen. It's equally as good as this one.
Great reaction. Metallica’s Load and Reload albums are really underrated in my opinion. You really must react to Alice In Chains. The singers voice is haunting and beautiful, the guitar work and bass are unique and dark. Please react to “love hate love” live at the Moore theatre, and “rooster” the music video.

You like James Hetfield's voice because, when he really hits his notes, he has soul and authenticity. You don't necessarily find that much in hard rock or metal, but James definitely has it when he's "on".
Also, the theme of this song is similar to their song "Unforgiven" where someone's life is being controlled by others and what allowing that does to restrict one's life.

A lot of people don't know this, so they may not understand the idea behind this song, but the term bleeding me comes from an old medical practice called Leeching. Where leeches were used to drain blood from a specific region of the body to promote improved blood flow and a renewal or rejuvenation to your blood vessels. So the song describes his attempt to improve himself by bleeding out the demons and problems in his life. The second verse also is derived from a man named Lord Byron in The early 1800s. Just shows how much Hetfield educates himself on such a wide variety of things.

Load was the first Metallica album I bought in 1997....at age 36 this song still raises the hair on my arms brings an immense LoaD of emotions to the surface. I had a similar childhood as James and feel as if his lyrics were written in my journal. Whenever life feels like its just too much, I strap, in volume maxed out, and melt into a co-op mind with James and let all the anxiety and woe exit through the pores in my ears. His voice makes me feel ok, it feels like home, a comfortable place led by an alpha male with good intentions. As far as James’ voice, an easy counter argument is Johnny Cash. Not the most versatile country music singer by a mile, but when he put his voice to a song, you can’t imagine anyone else singing that song.

That's what I love about James's lyrics. They are stark and powerful. So you can feel them and personalize them to your own life and really feel them.
