    Thanks for all the workflow tricks! Well communicated and super helpful. I hadn't seen the constraints before!

    Awesome walkthrough on the sketch constraints! That was great! Subscribed.

    You move through it pretty quickly-- could you clarify why you do the (-ply/2) step only to go back and change it to (ply)? Thanks! Nice video!

    • @WhatMakeArt
      @WhatMakeArt  Год назад +1

      ply / 2 is only half thick, in that case it needed to go the full thickness of ply

      @@WhatMakeArt rewatching and I think I answered my own question! You went negative because you wanted to set the outside dimenionsion of the plane as the full width of the entire stool. It just went by really fast and I was a bit confused. Thanks again!

      Glad you figured it out, yes, sometimes I go a bit fast, got to remember to set the pace a bit better 👍

    great work flow.. could you not just copy the extrude if the t-bones and put it just before the mirror copy of the brace and it would create both braces with the fillets already included?
    I would also just mirror the circles instead of creating each one per corner maybe?
    also.. are the braces not all the same? if so.. it is not faster to create a rectangular pattern of one completed one ?
    Im just imaging how I would be doing it and seeing your rational for doing or not doing it another way... just for learning purposes... thanks again!

    • @WhatMakeArt
      @WhatMakeArt  3 года назад +1

      You can't extrude the t-bones until you've made the subtraction of the tennon for the mortise hole. If you make the t-bones first you'll get a round hole.
      I didn't mirror the sketch circles because the mirror command in fusion sketches is not parametrically editable. You could totally do it that way. I also avoid mirrors and sketches cuz sometimes they can slow sketches down.
      Sure you could create a rectangular pattern of the braces. I did it this way so I could change the height and width and the braces would still be centered on the legs without having to adjust the rectangular pattern. Either way would work depending on which steps you want to take to make the model editable.

    Thanks for the video!
    How do you make it that as soon as you extrude, the object is made of plywood?

    • @WhatMakeArt
      @WhatMakeArt  Год назад

      I need a custom texture and material with an image of the edge of a piece of plywood, sometimes you have to rotate it 90° depending on which way the wood is going
      This video shows how to make custom material, instead of these materials. Just use an image of an edge of plywood

    Can the CNC router read this file from fusion360 to cut the final pieces, or is there a special file format that the router can only read and cut from?

    • @WhatMakeArt

      Fusion 360 can export g-code for many different CNC machines. You need to make sure you export the proper g-code for your machine.
      If you are using a shop bot then this is a video that shows you how to export g code for a shop bot

    Hello great tutorial! However I don't know if I screwed up or something is wrong but when I took it to the CNC The Pockets where 1 mm smaller than the total plywood material, so the shelves could not fit into the pockets. At first I used the same parameters you are using but I decided to change the plywood thickness from 18 mm to 19 mm once I got the chance to measure it. So I changed them and in Fusion when I measure it shows 19 mm. However, final result was 18 mm. Do you have any idea what could go wrong? I used a 6mm bit for both the pockets and contour. Thanks!

      Frustrating when parts don't fit, every CNC is different and best to do a small test cut to check tolerances
      Hard to say what exactly happened without seeing your file but a couple tips for next time
      On the pocket cuts in the manufacturer workspace in Fusion 360 there is a "stock to leave" setting. If you type a negative number here it will make the pocket just a bit bigger. This way you can make your model at the exact dimensions and then adjust the tool paths based on the particular machine and materials
      Hope you can sand out the pockets and make everything fit in your project 👍🔨

    Hello, I congratulate you for the video it served me a lot. The only thing I want to know is how you do to embed the parts in DXF for CNC cutting or how you do it. Greetings

    I am playing with drawing a rectangle the slot length and the width ply thickness - bit dia, then making two slots centre to centre with the bit dia along the slot length. playing with it if you keep all the lines associated with the new object you can change parameters and it works. Would like someone to try this out and let me know if it works for you.
