    Protective Gear - People get injured while felling trees all the time. Reduce the risk by wearing Kevlar leg coverings, a hard hat, steel toe boots, heavy-duty gloves and goggles.
    First Aid Kit - In case something goes awry, have medical supplies readily available.
    Chainsaw - Make sure the chainsaw has a sharp chain, a full tank of oil and gas and that it works properly.

    Glad he kept his guide dog well out the way while he butchered the tree with a blunt saw. Nothing was done right - is his pony tail part of the safety gear? Dreadful review of a good saw

    Also, always do your bottom cut on the face first.. less likely to pinch the bar depending what kind of tree and degree of lean, but MAINLY because once that top cut is there its very hard to adjust your cut at all and ur pretty much stuck with it.. but also why you ended up so deep into the tree, and in all honesty especially trees as thoroughly dead as that one want a 1/3 in at most. Brings the risk of it barberchairing, or prematurely falling from lack of support before you even start the back cut.
    But at the end of the day your alive and the tree is down no damage caused so I mean you're not doing it wrong just miss matched order or simply lack of experience to know those little things... no offense genuinely, just trying to share some free knowledge.

Pretty bad honestly. 2 or 3 swipes make the world of difference especially with stihl chains.. and yes I understand its the safety chain and it does change slightly but not significantly like that, I only run safety chains on my climbing and ground saws and they work perfectly with just a little touch up..

      @alexschooley3936 3 года назад

      Yes and no... yes a new chain is better but ive been doing this for a living for quite a while and you'd be amazed, at what 2 or 3 swipes with a file will do to a BRAND NEW factory stihl chain.. but I mean of course Oregon carbide chains are better... and he means use the teeth o. The bar more.. one the bar is 1/4 inch in just use one hand and lightly lift up/forward, will make the world of difference. Also decent job on ur face cut, but you should be cutting them in between waist and chest for multiple reasons, better visibility of cut, easier to watch the top and cut right before it breaks free, but MAINLY ur less likely to die of it barberchairs on you, also just easier on back.. but all around safer and I only have to ever cut 3-4 extra 16" rounds off the stump to bring it down.. hopefully this helped. Good job though sir.

    Try that with a sharp chain you make the saw look bad man that saw is dull as _hit I've used one you make it look bad dont care what you have to say about it fact is a fact you shouldn't be running a saw.
