Speaking strong coniferous scents: I once had opportunity to examine an ancient Egyptian perfume jar and 3500 years later it still smelled of a faint scent of cedar, pine, and juniper from its original contents. Fashions don’t change much.
Thanks so much for watching! Wow, now that is interesting! To be honest, I had no idea perfume was even around that long ago. My guess is they produced it from the oils and sap of the trees. That is really neat, thanks for sharing. Hope you have a great day!
Christmas eve is one of my favorites i still have two brand new 5.8oz soaps 2 aftershaves and 2 edt's left lol for the fall/winter I'm set
Hey Jake! Always appreciate your support brother and for watching man! So glad to hear you like Christmas Eve as much as I do. It’s so good, isn’t it? Can’t get enough of it, it’s a beautiful scent. Smart man to stock up on it. Have a great week bro!
@DoubleAshaves another great detailed educational breakdown of wet shaving products and techniques. I'm also a big fan of Stirling Soap Products.
Hi Jason! Thanks so much for watching, and I very much appreciate your kind words. I’m so happy to hear that you are enjoying my content. It encourages me to continue making more videos. Happy you’re also a Stirling fan. They really nail everything. Scents, selection, value, customer service, etc. I could go on and on. Gotta love them. Keep on shaving on brother and have a good weekend.
Nice shave Aaron, have a great weekend when you get to it.
Thanks so much for watching Justin! Always appreciate you brother! Hoping you have a great weekend as well my friend :). Hope all is going well up there.
@@DoubleAshaves you’re most welcome my brother!
1:10 Understated labels are Stirlings stealth, hiding the strength within. Take off the lid and POW! Bathroom FILLS with fragrance🤣👍
Speak softly, and carry a big stick.
Thanks so much for watching! Appreciate the feedback. Yup, absolutely agree. Let your products speak for themselves without needing a fancy label. Some of the labels nowadays are honestly just ridiculous. Stirling’s labels are classy. Hope you have a great week ahead!
Hey Aaron, That is a Sterling scent that I have not tried yet. I think the Stirling labels are as classy as it gets. Great shave. Have a nice upcoming weekend. Best regards, Glenn
Hey Glenn! Thanks so much for stopping by to watch man! Always appreciate you. This one isn't for everyone, but if you enjoy the smell of the woods, it's awesome. I agree, they look great and don't try to make them flashy, like you see with a lot of new artisans. Just nice, simple and sleek. Thanks, and hope you enjoy the weekend as well!
Hi Aaron. Nice one. I love yaqi brushes as well. Like you're saying they're inexpensive and get the job done. I would love to try this scent at some point. Have a good rest of your weekend
Thanks so much my friend for watching, and for your kind words and continued support on my content. Always appreciate you man. Glad you also like the yaqis. Totally man, they are just awesome. I really don't see a reason to "upgrade" my brushes, when the yaqis do so well for such a great price. But I do have one higher end brush I'm excited to experiment with soon. If you're a wood/pine fan, this one is tough to go wrong with. You enjoy your week as well!
Nice shave Aaron. This looks like another good one from Stirling. That’s a great deal on that brush. I have a Yaqi 26 mm that does a great job lathering. Take care and have a good night.
Hey Lee! Thanks so much for watching man and your continued support on my content. Always appreciate you dude. Yeah really, Stirling has an amazing catalogue. They have something for everyone in their lineup which is awesome. Gotta love them. Glad to hear you’re also a yaqi fan. I’m amazed at how great they are considering the cheap price point. I’ll always be a fan of them. You have a great weekend as well man! Keep on shaving on brutha.
Hi Aaron great shave! The Parker looks good 👍! Beautiful brush! Have a great weekend 😊
Hey Robert!! Always appreciate you watching and your support and positive feedback! Hope you have a good weekend as well! I like that we are both yaqi brush fans!! I love them. Parker is a great razor indeed. Have a great day!
Good to see you again bro! Great shave ya had there..and superb lather! I agree with ya with liking the minimal but tasteful and stately label art from Stirling! ...and I also agree that they're soaps last a good long while and are a fantastic value! I still have the Sandalwood one from a few years back that's only half gone now..many more shaves left with that one! I also have and love their Barbershop and Bay Rum with matching splashes and balms!..and I also like it when artisans make essential oil only soaps and spalshes...good strong scents! Thanks for explaining the pine-esk offerings from Stirling cause I do like pine/cedar/fir/resin type scents and now I need to try that one out for sure! I used to saw and chop pine wood in the Colorado mountains and I've always loved that smell! That Lord Platinum blade is my favorite of the Lord offerings, and is a blade I'll use in my more aggressive razors cause it tames them just a bit, but are still smooth and efficient enough for me...not scary sharp like a Feather or Bic😮😂
Hey, it's cool that your shave den is in your kitchen! I'd have a smoothie station going while doing my shave!🤙 Take care man and look forward to seeing your next shave👍
Thanks so much for watching man!! I so much appreciate your support, feedback and kind words brother! It encourages me to continue making videos, so I really appreciate that man! Happy to see you love Stirling as much as I do! Yeah, I think labels nowadays have too much going on, and are over the top. But I have come to love the elegant minimalism in Stirling's labels, they just look awesome. I've always been curious about their sandalwood, I'll have to sample that one soon. Barbershop is my all time favorite scent, I'm happy you also like it. I've also had countless bath soaps of it too. Great choice! And no problem! I think if you enjoy the scent of chopping pine, you will 101% LOVE coniferous. I can tell you that right now. Yeah I have to say I enjoyed this blade. Like you said, it's smooth and not feather sharp. So I'm a fan of that haha. Have a great weekend brother!!
@doubleashaves1885 you got it man! I am most happy to support you and your channel cause you do a great job and you're a solid, good man that got bit by this wet shaving bug just like I have! I also agree with ya that Stirling's barbershop is my favorite barbershop of all the ones I've tried! I also think you might like their sandalwood...it's not the typical buttery or pungent sandalwood...I think it's a Hawaiian strain of sandalwood fragrance that reminds me of fishing at these certain lakes in Colorado in the summertime...it's hard for me to explain, but it's funny how certain scents can remind us of certain places!..lol. Take care, Brother 👍
Hi Aaron, You sold me on the Coniferous. Sounds like one i need to have in my den. I'm with you on the appearance/design of Stirling product. First impression is lackluster but performance and price is hard to beat. Sorry your work has been crazy. Even though I'm retired I have the memories. My wife is much younger and still works so I get to hear her crazy work stories. My son is having a sleepover buddy tomorrow so I'll be doing some extra cleaning. God forbid the kid tells his parents we live like slobs. LOL Very hot here in Charlotte but I seem to tolerate the heat better than most. Great shave as always.
Hello Doug my friend! Always appreciate your support and kind words, man. Love seeing you stop by! Very happy to hear you enjoyed my description of coniferous. As you probably know, stirling has awesome sample sizes if you don't want to commit to the full set. If you're a fan of woody scents I think you would love this though. Right yeah I agree, the value and performance is what caught me first, and then I came to appreciate the labels later on. I think labels nowadays are over the top and have too much going on. Thanks man, it's not too bad. We got some trips coming up that will be a good recharge. Hopefully the wife isn't too stressed out. Lol, I think cleaning is always kind of fun. Be well my friend and stay cool. Have a good weekend!
Thnx for your comment on Stirling soaps my favorite. Thnx for mentioning the great prices on yaqi brushes. Sure would have been nice if ya would have mentioned anything about the Parker
razor. Parker shave brushes are top notch also. The best
You're very welcome Fred! Thanks so much for watching! Glad we both love stirling and yaqi brushes! My man! They are so good. Yeah haha, I did forget to mention the razor. But I enjoy it a lot, great price point too. I'm gonna have to try one of those parker brushes, thanks for the heads up! Have a great night man!
Just getting started in the hobby and have gotten into the routine of watching your videos. Your recommendations and products have been super helpful and valuable. Barbershop pole yaki is on order plus my first sterling soap. I started with shore from declaration grooming after watching your video on it as well. Great stuff man!
Thanks so much for watching Jack! I really appreciate your kind words regarding my content!! That means a lot, and also motivates me to continue making videos! Appreciate that man. Happy to hear you went with Stirling and Yaqi as your starters. You wont regret it, I promise. Those are all you need to get a great shave, don't buy into the hype for all the pricey gear. Technique is everything, and the gear isn't as important. Shore is a wonderful, uplifting summer scent. You will enjoy that one, and that soap base is CRAZY good. Again, smart choices my friend! Have a great week man!
I love the smell of all stirlings forest/pine scents. Ozark irritates my face for some odd reason. Coniferous is my favorite. I like to mix it with the scots pine sheep. Makes for awesome lather! I just ordered a sample of Christmas Eve. Evergreen Forrest is back. Instead of pine it smells more like Douglas fir. It smells great too!
I like the looks of this razor. Just worried it’s too aggressive. My buddy said it’s less aggressive then the Parker semi slant.
Thanks so much for watching!! I'm glad we share the same interests with Stirling's pine scents. Couldn't agree more, I love what Stirling does with their pine scents. Coniferous blows me away. Maybe it's because it's made with essential oils instead of fragrance oils, but man it's such a bold/realistic pine tree scent. You will love christmas eve, that has always been one of my favorites. Agree about evergreen forest. I got the bath soap of it and no surprise it's another great evergreen scent from stirling. Never used the semi slant, but the 26C is mid aggressive I would say. If you have sensitive skin it might not be the best choice, but its certainly nothing crazy.
Great shave Aaron, I'm gonna look around for one of those yaqi brushes.
Have a great weekend.
Thank you my brother for watching and all your support man! Always appreciate you. They are great, affordable brushes. A lot of brush snobs probably wouldn't want to use them, but they just have always worked great for me. Plus I think they look cool. You enjoy the weekend as well man. Oh and I've been enjoying looking at all the cool stuff from zoologist perfumes. I smelled a few a while back and really enjoyed them. Love their creativity.
Pine Woody scent is great choice for the lead up to Xmas in July, it's great that Stirling offers a good range (40+) of soaps that are scented with Essential Oils only. There are so many DE blades made, I doubt I will be able to try them all, I estimate I have tested over 40, I do like many Lord blades including the Platinum. Yaqi defects are awesome value with the free shipping from AliX (to Aus as well), I've picked up about 6 and only one I didn't turn out well, my fault though I destroyed the handle trying to change the knot. Take care Aaron my friend👍😎
Hi Lawrie! Thanks so much for watching my friend! Always appreciate your support and feedback! Very true, I didn't realize just how many essential oil only scents stirling has. I'll definitely need to explore more of them soon, thanks for the heads up. Glad to see we both enjoy experimenting with different blades. It's a very neat part of the hobby and keeps things interesting with the endless options of blades out there. Seriously, I can't believe how great of a deal the yaqi brushes are, with the free shipping from china. I also just like how they look. They are great performing brushes and I don't see a reason to "upgrade" at all, at least not now. Have a good weekend!
@@DoubleAshaves I have quite a mix of AliX brushes from Yaqi, Dscosmetic, Boti & a few others but I find the Yaqi knots seem to be better. I do have a few Artisan & Custom brushes (13 at last count) made by Australian Artisans to give them some support and I tend to use Yaqi or AP Shave Co knots in them, actually I've just ordered two more Custom handles from a newer but quite well known local turner, I'll probably have Yaqi knots put in them. 😎
I’ve been wanting to pick up a sample of Ozark Mountain from Stirling. Either that or Mountain Man. Always heard good things about both. Their samples are the best!
Thanks so much for watching man!! Always appreciate your support! Both are great scents. If smoky pine is your thing, ozark mountain is the way to go. If clean, crisp, and slightly cologne sounds better, I would go with mountain man. Personally I prefer mountain man, since I sort of get a pine-sol vibe from ozark, but that's just me. Getting a bunch of samples is always a great way to go :). Have a good weekend!
Great shave Aaron! Pine always smells so good, I don’t have coniferous but I have Scot’s Pine Sheep and it’s awesome and very masculine like you said. Really appreciate your content and commentary. I agree, essential oil scents are always really pure and strong. Nice lather from Stirling as usual! Looks like a nice open comb razor also. I hope work and life both slow down for you soon!
Thanks so much Matt for watching and your kind words man! Always appreciate your support and feedback. Thanks, I'm sure I'll be back in my normal routine soon. Glad we share the same love for pine, it's such a great scent. Happy to hear you're enjoying the scots pine! I'm sure that one is amazing. For real, I wish there were more essential oil only scents in the hobby. You can definitely tell the difference. This razor usually nicks me, but somehow I avoided that this time around lol. Take care man.
Coniferous is certainly strong. Their Evergreen Forest is also a nice pine scent.
Hi bill! Thanks so much for watching, I appreciate you! Yeah, it's indeed a strong and bold scent. You're not kidding about that. I definitely want to smell evergreen forest at some point. Thank you for the recommendation. Have a great day!
I just got this scent and I don’t know how I feel about it. I don’t hate it, but I’m not sure I love it either. Kind of reminds me of turpentine, but I can’t put my finger on it.
Thanks so much for watching!! Yeah, that's fair. This is a polarizing scent for sure. You really have to be a fan of natural earthy woody scents. I've never smelled turpentine but to me Coniferous smells just like pine sap from the tree. Stirling also offers a few more "crowd pleasing" pine scents like christmas eve and ozark mountain which is good too. Hope you have a great week!
P.S. i also love Yaqi brushes!! I have 3 synthetic one's and one Silvertip Badger and they all are solid, great value and great performing brushes! Take care🤙
So happy to hear you're also a fan of the yaqi brushes and that I'm not alone! Right?! They are so solid and such a killer deal. Big yaqi fan right here!! My man. Take care!
Which companies have your favorite aftershaves? With and without alcohol?
Thanks so much for watching Derek! Sorry about the late reply here. Hmm, that's a tough question. As far as alcohol, I would have to say Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements. They are a little pricey, but they always have my skin feeling great and the scents last longer than any other aftershave I've used. As far as non alcohol, I think the only one I have is southern witchcrafts. no burn and feels great. If I see another non alcohol one in my den ill update you. Have a great day!
@@DoubleAshaves no worries! Never tried Phoenix. I got the entire soap sample of southern witchcraft and I didn’t really find a scent that suited me. I’m on an aftershave kick right now so I’m trying to find the best ones to try. So far I really like wholly kaws. I also did get the Nivea balm which is actually really good and cheap. Next ones I kinda want to try is Murphy and McNeil non alcohol, chiseled face and black ship grooming.
Just Purchased Glastonbury, Varen, Port-au-Prince, Coniferous and Hipster…What soap base do they use?
Great choices robert! Glad to hear you got some Stirling soaps! Coniferous is one of my all time favorites that they have done! Haven’t smelled the others. Stirling soaps use a tallow base for their soap. And I think they a have a few made with sheep tallow. Great soap base! Enjoy!
Coniferous is the first Stirling soap I ever tried and it lathered beautifully today. Using 1/4 tsp of soap scooped from the tub and 15 ml of water it produced volumes of dense lather. How can I rectify a shaving brush the “eats the lather? I have a 26mm Grizzly Bay white mountain badger
P.s. Since you are a fan of Coniferous, you would definitely like ”Sheep’s Pine” and their Electric Sheep smells like Lemon-head candy
Do any Pucks or hard soaps will work? You can mix and match old soaps? to fit in any mug or cup that you like to use. like Mitchells' Wool Fat? Cut the bar soap up, put in a mug, cover the soap with a small amount of water, microwave for a minute or so? if it foams up, stop ? let cool you just went to congeal' place in the sun, until soap hardens use dry brush more water i use Dove soaps there cheap and good save your money spend it on your wife don't listen to the shave mafia. wheelchair Larry Merry Christmas
I like your videos and content, but your channel has far too many interruptions!! There were 4!! This greatly decreases the enjoyment. I would like to subscribe, but that hinders my interest too much. So sorry to indicate this but RUclips has been doing this to many channels out there!! It's getting out of hand! I thought you would like to know if you didn't already. My best to you, JimG
Thanks so much for watching Jim! I appreciate your kind words and feedback. Like you said, this is something youtube has been doing lately, and it is unfortunately out of my control. The only thing you can do to watch ad free is to upgrade to youtube premium. I would turn off the ads if I could, but sadly that is not an option. Thanks again for your feedback and have a good week!
