About us: In July of 2021, after a long time of hoping, dreaming, and planning, we sold or gave away almost everything we owned and left the United States to begin our journey with four children as an expat family. We moved to Leipzig, Germany, a beautiful city in the state of Saxony. This is our story.

I have a confession to make: The flavors taste very different when you don't eat 16 varieties in a row! 😂 I ate some of the Kaffee Knusper bar on a different day after this video and it tasted much better! So if you want to get the most from your Ritter Sport, don't eat them all at once!
What's your favorite flavor? What brand of chocolate should we try next?
Maybe some chocolate from other companies: Milka also has a lot og good sorts, Lindt has some great and special flavors. And by the way.. you can smell a slightly difference between chocolate from common companies and cheaper ones. From for example Aldi or Lidl....
Since you are located in Leipzig, you should probably make a taste test of different Hallorenkugeln. I think that would be fitting 😋
@@georgdrache7858 Milka was already on our list - I'll have to add Lindt. Any flavors we should make sure we get?
That's interesting about the smell...I'll have to pay closer attention. 👍🏼
@@ninan9650 we're hoping to visit the Halloren factory and film there if we can!
@@OnwardMJ Lindt has a huge numbers of chocolates. From the common ones: Milk, some nutty flavors, etc. But they also have some great special fruits. Personally I prefer the bitter ones (much less sweet), like 85% cacao and a nice cup of coffee. But this is only my personal favor.
20:22 her germn pronounciation sounds very good, almost perfect.
The kids speak German so much better than me! They are always correcting my bad pronunciation!
First of all: your daughter is so sweet and did a great job 😍!
When I was younger I ate a lot of strawberry yoghurt chocolate (different brand). But I guess I ate too much once 🤪, got sick 🤢 and that was the last time I ever touched it 🤭
You are definitely an expert in Rittersport now 😁 In my 35 years living in Germany I definitely haven't tried as many flavors as you did in this video 🤣😁
Honestly, my favorite is the very boring "Alpenmilch". My dad sent us a box of nice German things for Christmas and I have to confess that I ate the Alpenmilch Rittersport before my kids came home from school 🤣🙊
The security tag on the Lebkuchen one was hilarious 🤣 I mean it was there for a reason 🤔 Guess it means it is popular flavor 😁
PS: Your pronunciations is not as bad as you think😁More German please! 😃
Thanks! She's a natural and has been contributing more to the videos lately - She might do one by herself about her experience in US high school vs Gymnasium here.
Alpenmilch is my son's favorite too! And I would totally do the same thing that you did. Sometimes parents need to get the treats!
And...I'm thinking about doing a video in German soon...we'll see if I can work up the courage!
24:15 haha.. you are totally germanised!! You Sir, made the "Merkel-Raute" our old chancellor-hand figure, for what she was famous for over years ^^
Lol, I never heard of that!
You are definitely already a pro concerning the technique to open a Ritter Sport packaging, that can be said for sure! :P
I always go with Olympia. I love it.
It's a really good flavor, definitely one of my top choices.
My favourites are Honig-Salz-Mandel (honey salt omen), Nougat, Marzipan and Rum-Traube-Nuss (rum-grape-nut). The last 3 are standard flavors. The first is a special. And check out Milka collage. Btw your german is fantastic for that short amount of time.
You’ve got to taste Lindt chocolates especially so crispy & caramel flavor.😅 Or visit a chocolatier maybe in the center of Leipzig, there you get handmade chocolate & variants.
Highly recommended: Toffifee, Duplo, Ferrero Küsschen, Halloren and Leipzigs own: Knusperflocken and Bambina. All mentioned brands come in different flavors! So I'm waiting for Part 3. =)
Btw. if you are longing for American sweets, there is a shop in the city center called "House of Sweets". It is at Brühl 18.
Knusperflocken are from Zeitz... ;)
Toffifee is one of my son's favorites! I'll keep my eyes open for the others and stock up for the next video.
I'll have to check out House of Sweets! There are a few things from the US that I miss. Hopefully it's not too expensive!
@@OnwardMJ considering inflation in the states the stuff is expensive but considering inport duties. I get koolaid and a few things. Basic reeses peanutbutter cups just get at kaufland. Sourpatchkids Rossmann is cheaper, and the Mekong asian shop has some of the asian kitkats and stuff cheaper. I wait for pop tarts to go on sale at kaufland. I found them at penny cheap sometimes too. Though yeah house of sweets has mac and cheese, ranch dressing and alot of stuff. I dont bother with chips and not a big enough fan of takis to spend the money on them. I get a&w rootbeer sometimes too.
It would be better to take a sip of water between each chocolate to wash away the flavors in your mouth. Otherwise the strawberry chocolate will taste like coconut afterwards.
Try chili chocolate e.g. by LINDT. *The daughter speaks stunningly good German!* 👍👍
Yes, we did drink water between (most of) the flavors. It just might not have been quite enough to really wash all of the taste out. Might try something else next time.
I definitely have to try that chili chocolate - other people have also recommended it. Sounds good to me!
And yes, my daughter (well, all of our kids) speak much better German than me! My 6 year old corrects my pronunciation! 😂😂
My favorites are the "traditional" flavours like Nugat and the combinations of nuts (hazelnut, peanut, cashew,...), rum and grape/raisin. On wikipedia is complete list of flavours. Lots flavours are not availble in 100 gr.
For Milka I like the caramel/toffee and cookie best. You may want to try Merci, because there are mixed flavours in one box. And the name is a good working marketing trick, because a lot of people give them as a present to say "thank you/merci".
So many good flavors. Thanks for the tip on Merci - a mixed box of flavors would certainly make things easier!
Chocolate from Merci or Milka is very good!
Have you planned visiting the Ritter Sport factory yet? There are tons of extra flavours available that you won't get elsewhere..
That sounds amazing, and hopefully we can make it there one day. It looks like it's not too far from Stuttgart if I'm looking at the right place, so if we ever plan a trip out that way we'll have to check it out! 👍
@@OnwardMJ yes you are absolutely right: Waldenbuch near Stuttgart
you should search for a confiserie to get ... well you will find out. one thing i suggest to buy if you find one is the 2 layered nougat. nothing more to say ^^
greetings
Sounds good! Any that you recommend in Leipzig?
@@OnwardMJ sorry. dont know. i suggest to try a search for one. in my little town with 25k ppl we have one so i assume that you will find some more in leipzig.
Oh.. you still didn't had "Honig-Salz-Mandel" (honey-salt-almond)
I thought we tried that one...Maybe in the first video? I'll have to look...
amaranth in english is written andspoken the same. or you call it FUCHSSCHWANZ in german( Fox tail)
After looking it up and learning that, I had to laugh at myself. I just never heard of it before!
Oh and by the way germany has some other great chocolate sweets called "Pralinen". Maybe Ferrero sorts, Küsschen (Kisses), Rocher. But beware, some of them have alcohol in them!!!
I've had some sort with alcohol in them, they were delicious but I forget what I had! I'll keep my eyes open for more. 😃
You could make a promotional video for Ritter Sport 🙂
I'm hoping they reach out with a sponsorship opportunity! 😁
... Fehlte da nicht meine Lieblingssorte? ... Pfefferminz !!! 😬
Das ist auch meine Lieblingssorte! Aber es war in unserem ersten Ritter Sport Video! Es ist sehr lecker und im Sommer lege ich es gerne in den Gefrierschrank und esse es dann ... so gut. 😋
@@OnwardMJ ... 👍❤️ ... the best or nothing! ... 😉
Amaranth is a seeds of a plant en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amaranth and it is like a cereal
Amaranth is kind of cereals
After filming I looked it up and learned that (although in the states we would call it a type of grain). I never heard of it until we ate it!
Hi, maybe you should drink water with it, or better yet eat a small piece of bread in between!
I like the Nugat, Espresso and the Salted Almonds Honey most.🙋♂
We did have water in between (I just edited that part out - the video was long enough😂). Bread is a good idea, but we might have gotten a little more stuffed than we already were!
Hallo
what always wonders me about vegan stuff that originally was not vegan right?
But contained lot of vegan incredients anyway
how do they manage to make it worse
what i mean by that almonds have lots of oils so does any nut so they arent nessesarrily dry
mild bitter chocolat is not nessesarrily dry it still can melt on your tounge they use milk powder anyway there is no fresh milk in it
so how? is it barely ever good
exeptions though
I know what you mean. I just tried another bite of that Mandel Quinoa and I need a whole glass of water! I believe there are better vegan options - this particular one just didn't work as well for me.
