Later at the Library the chief was shaking with fear. (PS: at some point during the mission the Library 343 Guilty Spark mentions that he bringed another reclaimer [Sgt. The chief found his body which he could only identify through his Dog tag and paid his respects to the Marine. “I didn't know you, Sarge, but I sure as hell wish I had. You must have been one hardass son of a bitch.” He was surprised at how far Mobuto had managed to get, as he himself had been pushed to the limit to get as far as he had even with his augmentations and MJOLNIR body armor).

'Last time you asked me; " if it were my choice, would i do it?" @@V2ULTRAKill same, at the time we all just thought spark assumed all humans knew forerunner protocols being the inheritors. But i think the bungie lead writer (i forget his name) always intended for the background lore to be this way. I.e. chief being the lifes work of the librarian. Its all just really cool and blew my mind when i realized how far ahead they planned the story. It just shows the passion the OG bungie had. I wish 343 carried on that same passion

I will follow you after reach and CE for the rest of the great journey (haha spoiler), and relive the memory's as a first timer. I really love watching this! Keep it up buddy!
To me it's impressive that a game made 20 years ago is has dialogue that make no sense until h4 and the novels. I know that it's written upon that dialogue but you can already tell bungie wanted to make this universe large right off the bat
@* SPARTAN-IV * I know that the fall of reach was written before halo CE was released so they already had a small bedrock to work on, however the existance of the forerunners, the title reclaimer and the mjolnir armor being known to guilty spark aswell as nudging to chief being one of the iso-didacts is pretty good setup, normally you wouldnt leave so many threads dangling in your first game if you dont expect to build a big universe around it eventually. and Bungie did just that and followed up on it, all open threads have been expanded on even as late as the final words of the flood-forerunner war where guilty spark askes why chief hesitates to do what he already did
@@solar7427 In the original outline it's quite clear that humanity *are descendants of the forerunners* hence why humans can operate Forerunner technology and the Covenant species can't. Unfortunately, that plot point never made it to Halo 4, due to copyright reasons between Bungie and Microsoft. Same with the references to Bungie's old Marathon series--343i had to alter the design for some symbols in the Halo remasters, due to Bungie retaining the copyright for the Marathon series. So, not only is the groundwork for future plot threads impressive in the first game, it's impressive the amount of hoops 343i jumped through to make just one semi-decent (and *very* different) storyline in Halo 4.
@@solar7427 To put my previous comment into perspective: this means that in the original storyline *Humanity built Halo* --100,000 years before recorded history began. SpearixPlays Halo 2’s story is slightly better. But not only did 3 have a campaign that was almost as good, it had the best MP and introduced Forge. Also ODST is technically is an expansion for Halo 3, so...
Dee, I'd strongly recommend using the motion tracker more, spatial awareness is super importantand the motion tracker helps alot. Also, once you've finished halo 2, play the mission outskirts on legendary difficulty, just so you've experienced it. You also need to do this to understand some of halo jokes Also flood don't take damage from melee hits or sniper rounds as they're so goopy the rounds go straight through them
@Keith Pillsbury It's definitely intentional. Also, I'm fairly positive that while they can be hurt by those things in later games, they still have significant resistance to those damage types. (Unless you snipe them in the infection form. Which actually might also work in CE.)
@Keith Pillsbury it's intentional I think. The lore states that the most effective to use against the flood is weapons that can destroy flesh or biomass. So stuff like plasma weapons or other incendiary weapons that can burn corpses were the best, and also shotguns
@@raflystiansahlatif5293 Shotgun is best, then rockets and grenades, then assault rifle, then plasma rifle. If you shoot the infection form with a pistol that works.
The library level did its job and is one of the best levels in the first halo. It's supposed to make you feel frustrated and overwhelmed just like the chief is in the mission. Halo combat evolved does an amazing job of putting the player in chief's heavy metalic boots.
THIS! And also if you just hang back and take time its actually not that hard even on legendary. In fact all of ce is pretty fair on legendary. ie not bullshit OP enemies. Everything has a counter if you know how.
In case you were wondering, 343 is a reference to the number 7 which is a big running number in the Bungie franchise, and also yes 343 Industries is named directly after 343 Guilty Spark (I do believe anyway, I may be wrong).

@Language and Programming Channel "Pain"? That word might apply to skipping as much of Library as possible, but AotCR was a FUN level, full of opportunities to f**k with Covies. I _enjoy_ messing with them, frustrating them, getting them to kill each other, downright humiliating and enraging them before they die in amusing ways. I use the early Banshee to fly ahead and prep the rest of the level so I can play with Covies, not to avoid them. They're fun playmates when you treat them right. But I guess that's the difference between a racer and a trickster. I still get a laugh out of, e.g., setting up a couple of squads of Covies to be run down by a Banshee Covie gone postal. That's just one of many tricks I can set up by getting ahead in the level and prepping it before spawning the Covies. Nothing wrong with racing through levels if they're painful for you, just sayin' I prefer to play them my way.

Fun Fact about this game and that chapter: If you recall exactly how you came in and you ignore where your radar tells you to go and instead go back to that elevator you came in on, when you try to call that elevator down to you again there's an explosion followed by what's left of the elevator tumbling down the shaft into the abyss beneath. @@hungryal someone said the anniversary edition ruined the flood but i think the flood in the anniversary edition look great more details are added some of their armor or clothing are still intact
Potato Frisk It’s not that The Flood were ruined- it’s the atmosphere of the Mission 343 Guilty Spark- many people say the remaster made it too luminated and bright and this ruined the atmosphere of encountering the Flood for the first time.
I cannot stress how satisfying it is to see someone go through this for the first time. As terrifying as it is for you as an adult, imagine being 7 and seeing this insanity. Seeing the flood for the first time just made me itchy all over while my heart felt like it was going to explode.
My dad bought me this game for my 10th birthday. I was enjoying the sci fi alien stuff, then the flood came. I was freaking out.. and 10 year old me had nightmares. Lol
When I was 6 years old, my father installed the game on the computer and when I saw those things for the first time I didn't play until a year later and even then I was still afraid of them.

'Last time you asked me; " if it were my choice, would i do it?" ' that small piece of dialogue would sow the seeds of lore about the master chiefs true purpose and creation and the forerunners that wouldn't pay off until the pre halo 4 books, more then a decade later. Bungie did this in 2001 with no idea if halo would take off as a franchise or not. The writers are mad geniuses i swear. *deepest loooore*
In context lt just me a t 343 couldnt distinguish human from forunner
@@V2ULTRAKill same, at the time we all just thought spark assumed all humans knew forerunner protocols being the inheritors.

It's funny to see that even after 20 years the game still has it's scare factor. I was really scared playing it for the first time back in the days meeting the Flood.

In 343 Industries' revised storyline, ancient humanity had nothing to do with it, and meet a rather unfortunate fate at uh...spoilers, spoilers, Halo 4 and most especially, Halo 4 Terminals and Spartan Ops, spoilers.

I've played all the Bungie Halos more times than I dare to count, I know each of the stories by heart and could probably quote most of it too. But watching someone encounter the flood for the first time took me straight back to playing Halo:CE for my first time, it was fecking terrifying...
Interesting note: by my count, Assault on the Control Room has more Hunters in it than all of Halo 2's levels combined.
It' a shame because I love the Halo 2 hunters cannon firing sound.
Well the original graphics sound.
FleshyMeatSac right, no idea why they changed it in the updated graphics to that dumb sound.
@@URAWESOME94 there was nothing better than not realising there was a hunter near by and then all of a sudden you hear it.

Never thought I’d see a mature dude feel what we all felt so long ago. I love this channel so much, never thought I’d see someone get so into/appreciate a great game. Dee, I'd strongly recommend using the motion tracker more, spatial awareness is super importantand the motion tracker helps alot.
Also, once you've finished halo 2, play the mission outskirts on legendary difficulty, just so you've experienced it. You also need to do this to understand some of halo jokes
Also flood don't take damage from melee hits or sniper rounds as they're so goopy the rounds go straight through them
@Keith Pillsbury It's definitely intentional.
@@raflystiansahlatif5293
Shotgun is best, then rockets and grenades, then assault rifle, then plasma rifle.
If you shoot the infection form with a pistol that works.
@@ericj6636 yep, Halo CE shotgun and grenades are the best imo

In case you were wondering, 343 is a reference to the number 7 which is a big running number in the Bungie franchise, and also yes 343 Industries is named directly after 343 Guilty Spark (I do believe anyway, I may be wrong).
343 was originally a sub-branch of Bungie so yes, it was named after Guilty Spark.

There's a skip trick to basically forego fighting all the enemies for the last third of Assault on the Control Room. Watching you play it the way its supposed to looks kinda weird now, though I feel I should start playing the game the way its supposed to again.
Also pretty good seeing your reaction to the flood for the first time.

I replayed the flood mission a few years ago on my original Xbox, there were things I missed when I was 8 in the woods, for one the motion tracker getting a random red marker but disappearing, you can actually see shadows in the fog of the flood all creating an unsettling sequence that your being stalked
The feeling of 'Oh SHIT!' that hit me the first time that happened was intense. The fact that I HAD to go deeper into that nightmare to find a way out, and THEN it followed by the bloodbath elevator shaft going down actually scared me back in the day.
