    Raya, your video is very helpful and informative! You said you applied for the co-op in June, after you’ve completed your 1st year. Then they gave you an offer in late July. When did you start your placement, and how long does it last? I am a out of Province student, and your schedule made me think that I need to stay in Toronto for the summer. Thanks for your advice:)

    Can we still update our resume for coop into the second year? Or is what they receive on June the only thing they'll receive from us.

    • @RayaKee
      @RayaKee  2 года назад +3

      You only have one window to apply to co-op, so yes the one you submit in June is the only one.
      Good luck with co-op applications!

    Hi Raya, what specialization did you choose for 2nd year?

    • @RayaKee

      BTM is already considered a specialization, so I didn’t have to choose anything for 2nd year! :)

      @@mauiahsni744 I’m not sure how it works because I’ve never done it before, but you’ll definitely have a lot of info sessions to learn about the different specializations and heads up before you have to choose sometime in your first year. One tip is to follow Ryerson’s Business Career Hub (@tedrogersBCH) on Instagram to always be caught up with all the deadlines!

    Hey Raya, I was wondering what you think of CO op so far? What are your overall thoughts on this program? Hoping to transfer to Btm as a CS student so I just wanted your opinion on the program thus far.

    • @RayaKee
      @RayaKee  2 года назад +4

      Hi there!
      So my first co-op term is actually this coming summer (2022) so I can’t exactly say too much yet… BUT what I can say so far is that the co-op coordinators and career consultants at Ryerson’s career centre (aka. Business Career Hub) have been a tremendous source of support to me in terms of helping me brainstorm which career paths/roles I may want to pursue, advice on networking, general career/resume/cover letter advice, interview prep, and so much more.
      I’m really enjoying the program, and it’s a great fit for me because the programs gives a great overview of the parts that make up a business (e.g. accounting, marketing, etc.) while also teaching the more technical side of things (e.g. software/hardware in a business, basic coding etc.).
      As for your situation, I’d recommend looking at the required courses for BTM here: www.ryerson.ca/calendar/2021-2022/programs/trsm/business_tech/
      Go through the course descriptions and see if it sounds like something you’d be interested in pursuing!
      Also, just a heads up that BTM students apply to co-op after their first year.
      Good luck with your transfer and hope this helps :)

    • @yuhyuh5674
      @yuhyuh5674 2 года назад +4

      @@RayaKee awesome, thank you very much for the response. How difficult would you say the BTM is as a whole? Is the course load manageable? Moreover, do you find that the TRSM Co op portal is effective in finding Co op positions, or is it hard? Thanks in advance!

    • @RayaKee
      @RayaKee  2 года назад +4

      @@yuhyuh5674 As for BTM, I personally found the first year fairly manageable compared to my grade 12 experience. Keep in mind though, I was swimming competitively (8+ practices a week), doing uni apps, and aiming for a 90+ average in high school. Now, I'm ok with low to mid 80s depending on the course and not swimming anymore.
      As for the co-op portal, I haven't started applying for a summer internships yet so I can't say too much.
      Also note that it's your co-op coordinators that add job listings to the portal, so in that sense it's not really the portal but more so the coordinators searching for the positions.
      Hope this helps!

    Hi, I am going for Biomedical science in TMU( formerly Ryerson University) this fall. My question is that if your format of resume and cover letter will help me with my Co-op application?

    • @RayaKee
      @RayaKee  2 года назад +3

      Hi Imran! I’m sure some aspects of my application will help you in yours, but since my program is in business and yours is in science, there may be some differences in how you should structure your application. That said, I highly recommend meeting with a career consultant at Ryerson/TMU just to get your application in best shape.
      Hope this helps and good luck with your co-op application!
