Saw this tour at Poplar Creek Music Theater, Hoffman Estates/Chicagoland. Totally blew me away! Superb in every way: sound, talent, performances, selection, execution. A non stop barrage start to finish. Always throwing solid jam at you. I’d always know of Jackson, but after seeing this very tour, I was over the top and a fan ever since. Talented musicians, great song selection, and Joe, arguably, at his zenith.
I had the honor to tune Joe's piano for his Berlin show of the same tour in November 1986, as well as for many other Joe Jackson concerts in Berlin, often including delivery of rental pianos, last time in 2010 (unfortenately today he is using digital pianos). It's a big pleasure to work for someone you are such a fan of!

My brother and I took our Mom to see him when this tour played in Montreal in '86. On our way out after the show, I asked her what she thought of the concert. She said Jackson was a f-ing genius!
Incredible that Joe went through all his musical transitions with the same band, right? Loved them since the 80s when I was in my 20s, lost track of them for almost 25 years or so and found a concert here on YT from 2015... and they are still together and kickin´A**!!! Great stuff! Thanx for uploading this gem. Big World and Body and Soul - I couldnt get enough from those 2 albums. Masterly composed, the lyrics still stand the test of time meaning wise and that musicianship!!!
Well... not quite. This was a completely different band. Rick Ford on bass, Tom Teeley on guitar, Gary Burke on drums. Vinny Zummo payed guitar on the Big World album and stated the tour. Tom finished the tour and played on a few more albums.
I saw it in Osaka this same tour! A concert that has really stuck with me over the years. I was thrilled to see him in NYC a few weeks ago and would have like to just follow his tour around - he was that good!!
@@bsg2112 You're a "Number Two" for your dismissal of this song. With respect to a real relationship, would someone feel flattered by me if I were to refer to her as my "Number One"? I hope not. Let actions speak, not cajolery or jewellery. My point? To me, Jackson's song contains lyrics that are far more honest than most. (I've been the "Number Two" in many different contexts!)
This is pure talent that the new generation doesn’t know about and Most new artists use auto tune to sound like they can sing when they don’t know how to sing or play their own instruments
Minute 52, just make me cry...The pure beauty he can pull out of his piano...and it does- always something breakin' us in two. Isn't that great, my god my god...cry my eyes out
Joe's rendition of You Can't Get What You Want here is a masterpiece (especially with the use of the guitars). The transitions between Cancer, Be My Number Two and Breaking Us In Two are very smooth and sublime. Just magical.
I saw this show on the Australian leg. The big sound and tightness of Joe's band is just as good as I remember. JJ has always been the muso's muso, thanks for sharing.
+Tony Bellino I saw this tour @ Radio City Music Hall. I remember at one point, they had played an unreleased instrumental and he was asking people to toss up names of suggestions for a title of the song.
@@EdFer-oy1bq oui je m'en rappelle. Au zénith. C'est loin et pas tant que ça. Tu as continué à le suivre. L'ai vu à Orange en 91 et Marseille et Nice bien plus tard.
Très beau concert, toujours original, avec de nouveaux arrangements de ses anciens titres. Ce musicien que j'apprécie beaucoup reste pour moi atypique. Bravo Mr Jackson !
Nice, I saw him during this tour. It's one of my most memorable shows. Funny, there's a few glitches in the soundtrack that start around 7:34. I always thought this was a problem with the VHS tape I had back then.
Sparky Jones- Man, that's a show I've not seen- have seen ALOT, especially between the 80's-throughout the 90's.. I live in Chicago.. Weirdly enough never caught a Joe show :/
Thanks so much for posting this....awesome concert, great sound....Joe will be here in Portland Oregon on Oct. 1, 2015 and we have our tickets....never miss joe.
mrtrips99 Appreciate your comments and hope you have a great concert. I must go and see Joe again; last time was about twelve years ago when he reformed his whole original band. I've also a rare interview with Joe on my channel which you might enjoy.

Ha, I was just scrolling down to comment and saw my post from 3 years ago. I don't remember writing that or seeing this before, but the universe has sent me here again and it's as amazing as the first time. So I have to say again thank you so much for posting this stellar bit of music history.
The Man is a genius. I saw this tour in Melbourne, Australia in November 1986 in the Arts Centre concert hall. It was amazing. He didn't seem too fazed when a young woman got on stage and started dancing and pulled up her tshirt to reveal her ample assets. JJ simply quipped about a 'jersey cow' as security removed her from the stage. :)))
Hardly anyone in the audience, yet Joe Jackson played and sang his heart out. I appreciate that. Reminds me of when Indiana State University scheduled ELP to play right before finals. Most people were in the room cramming for the finals, yet ELP played their hearts out for the few who attended. ETA, at the end he said "selling out the place." Sarcasm? Joke? JJ does have a sense of humor (or humour).

Just pure talent. No Autotune, no gimmicks, no fancy stage production. True musicians and instruments

I’ve seen about 200 shows and this is the one that I missed. Joe Jackson is the man “with a hula hoop”
It was cool that he did a poetic reading of Chinatown with a subtle piano accompanying quietly.
"You Can't Get What You Want" was musically amazing. Great concert.
Big World is a MASTERPIECE.The band, Joe...on full tilt perfect. What elses you want?
This holds up to most anything being concocted these days. Raw talent here kids.
Disagree. Lots of talent here but incredible refining of his craft too over a long period of time. You know........... experience.
Why does it have to be in comparison to something else? Why can't it simply be good on its own?
@@dsgitlin This. Why are we comparing this to modern releases? Plenty of talent and innovation across the board. Either way, a great performance.
dumb to compare.

Gotta give it up for Tom Teeley. He had only a few weeks to learn all of these songs and he’s an excellent guitarist
