I absolutley loved listening to Emma in this video and the thinnng hair videos. I find her absolutley adorable and so fun to listen to, could listen all day long. I have PCOS and all the things Emma mentioned and my GP doesnt take me seriously at all and I think until you can hold their hand and give them a bout of what you are going through so they can feel for themselves they will not understand. Emma you are stunning depsite how you feel sometimes dealing with all that.
I am so sad the video ended. I have been listening to Emma’s podcast for about a month now (started with episode one and trying to catch up to the most recent ones) and absolutely fell in love with her voice and character. Wow you both are so natural in front of a camera and I love the friendship you share. Please get her to do more videos with you? I thoroughly enjoyed these videos so much.
I have PCOS and after having my son, the situation was beyond camouflage. Full-on thick black beard all along my jaw and neck. I tried everything. IPL did absolutely nothing. Zero. I just plucked every day, which resulted in loosened neck skin after a few years. In the end, I shaved it all off and a few days in, I did electrolysis. It hurts only the first three times I think, but you can apply a cream beforehand that numbs the area, then it's not even annoying. I did it every few weeks and a year later, I'm completely hair-free. Of course, after three to four months you're already at the stage where you don't mind growing them out because they are so much thinner and blonder. Please try electrolysis if your facial hair is due to hormonal reasons, it's an annoying process but it's the only thing that works. Even laser was a waste of money.
naz kousar you'll be done in about a year's time if you do your monthly sessions. The sessions here in Greece are about 50 euros each, but then get a lot cheaper (15 euros) as your session after about the third treatment are significantly shorter : you have fewer hairs sprouting out every time but also thinner and lighter, which means a much quicker treatment.
naz - I'm getting it done at the moment and my beautician has recommended at least 8 sessions because they do grow back, just lighter each time they're zapped. I have quite sensitive skin and not a great pain threshold so I find it painful, especially on the top lip, but everyone has different pain thresholds so you may not find it so. No matter, it really works brilliantly, far better than anything else to permanently remove hair. It costs me €30 for a 30 minute session- I'm in Ireland.
So pleased this subject has been discussed openly. I’ve always been hairy and now I’m 50 it’s getting even worse. All the teen mags I used to read (Jackie & Blue Jeans 😉) used to warn us girls in the 70s and 80s NEVER to remove our facial hair otherwise we would end up with coarse men’s stubble. I suffered with a moustache for years before I dare try waxing. It’s fabulous that we now have the tools and knowledge to get rid of facial hair which can really knock your confidence. Thanks for sharing Emma. You’re not alone!
Laser has been a huge blessing for me. It's worth every cent. It doesn't remove 100% but it's been significant enough to increase my confidence and quality of life.
I have used an epilator on my legs, underarms and bikini line for over 30 years. Now have no hair on my underarms, the odd one or two on my legs and the occasional one on my bikini line. The first time is the most painful, after that, merely uncomfortable, due to the hair growing in cycles. Once a week is usually enough to keep smooth. Highly recommend!
Two very beautiful ladies! Lovely to hear that no-one else sees what we can see in a magnifying mirror! Menopause and maturity does give a certain confidence and acceptance. Love it!
Dear Nadine and Emma: Don't fear the epilation!..I use it, wherever. One becomes used to it, after three or four goes, in that particular area. Becoming 'used to it', means that the nerves in your skin don't feel it, anywhere near, like the first few times, of using the epilator. And the skin is so baby soft! The trick is to purchase the right epilators, for the different parts of the body. By right, I mean the best makes, and the also the size, in relation to the part/s of the body. When epilating, you must apply a certain pressure, otherwise it will be painful. For the face, I use a battery powered XD-3007 facial epilator. It isn't that strong, but I am the same colouring as Nadine, and therefore do not suffer from course, dark, hair. For the body, I use Emjoi....different sizes for different parts of body. Every girl should start with an epilator, and then it probably wouldn't be that painful, in the beginning. Emma, please, please, stop the shaving, and the plucking, epilation is so much easier, long lasting, and eventually permanent. In saying that, I do agree, also, that the laser is long lasting, and eventually permanent. Laser only works on dark hair. Electrolysis is also permanent. Epilation works on all hair, it is inexpensive, but it is something that only the person with the hair, must apply to themselves. I am certified, degreed, skin therapist.
OH! I finally have found someone else who shares my "love" (if there was ever such a thing) for epilating! In between the daily tweezing on the face and waxing bikini area and eyebrows, I have an epilator for chin, neck, cheeks & sideburns. Then I have another epilator for legs and (deep breath) bikini area. And I agree, you do get used to the feeling similar to what occurs when you are getting a tattoo 😉
I use an epilator. After having chemo 10 yrs ago I developed more peach fuzz on my face than was natural, I was recommended an epilator and I still use one to this day 🤗
OMGoodness, why have i never come across your channel before?!! This is a wonderful video ladies, thanks tonnes. I have always had a slightly darker tash, growing up I kinda put it to the back of my head as I found it was all consuming. The thing that got me worse when I was late teens was the bikini line and my armpits, so I ended up getting laser hair removal at a clinic and after twelve sessions on each it really made a difference ( this was about 15 years ago) the bikini line has never grown back fully and neither the armpit hair but it's grown back sparsely but tbh I am happily married and hubby has seen me give birth to both our sons, so there's no shame. Now our youngest started school a year ago so, I have been looking into my beauty type things, because, well I can, I never bothered when they were super little as I had even worse skin than I have now and I was just too occupied with being at home with the kids. Here's the clincher, my mother dearest and nan went through the menopause at 39, I'm 38 in a couple of months and for the last 3 or so years, there have been certain symptoms that could suggest peri-menopause , more recently, my tash hairs are coming up darker and I have sprouted a few more too, there have been sprouters on my chin. My peach fuzz on the sides of my face and down the neck etc is still pale atm so I am not too fussed about it but the tash has really been bothering me lately. I would love to get the at home laser, but that'll be a save up kinda thing. I seriously think it's down to hormone changes ( not that it shows up on hormone blood tests till right before you hit menopause as I hear it). I am really going to try my damndest to save for the at home laser though, because I was so impressed from laser hair removal from years back that an at home one would be proper lush!! Loved this open chat about it though, it needs to be done more thoughout society, let's face it, we're all human!! xXx
Tthe hostess was very rude by interrupting, the guest could not complete one sentence! The guest had many ideas but hard to understand with the interruptions!
I was cracking up laughing, when Emma talked of the car mirror. There is no mirror in the world as powerful as a car mirror! 😆 Date a man with a bread, absolute stroke of genius!!!! I married a man who works from home and shaves once a week...👍🏻 Love you both and so glad you're helping women and teens feel better about facial hair.
Thank you for being so frank and explaining this so well. You have described so much of what I tell my friends. Many still do not want to talk about it, but once I state my menopause problems they come forward about their issues and are so happy it isn't just them.
THREADING - magic for your upper lip, least irritating option I've tried, haven't tried laser yet, but my friends have and they swear by it x Thank you for addressing facial hair, refreshing!
I've been going for laser hair removal, too scared to do the at home lasers though. So far I've had amazing results. I feel emma with the sideburns. At school I purposely kept my hair short enough so I could wear it loose and not have to tie it up😂😂
For years I used a cream hair remover on my upper lip. Then I bought an IPL and I will warn ladies that it hurts at maximum strength on your upper lip. You have to have it at maximum to work the best so use a numbing cream.
I would never remove my peach fuzz. For that reason I will try all kinds of other tricks for the skin rather than dermaplaning! This new trend of women shaving their faces makes me absolutely crazy! I am not talking about mustache removal, or women who are concerned with bothersome hair as Emma is. (Emma you are beautiful by the way) I mean women shaving their entire faces...their velous hair.... their foreheads??? OMG!!!! For the sake of makeup application? No!!!! I think it is insane. Wait until they are over 50 and hormonal. They are going to look like Humphrey Bogart in The African Queen with his 6:00 shadow!!! 💗 you Nadine! 😘
Shaving makes skin better, smoothes it out, reduces pigmentation and brings a glow to the skin, but after shaving be sure to apply a good sunscreen to face as your newly exposed layer of skin is much more prone to burn and tan!!
Nadine, when you are speaking to the hierarchy at Boots (or any high street store), can you PLEASE enlighten them about the eyebrow style razors. The shelves are stacked high with useless razors and I have yet to find the useful sort in any store!!!! At the moment, I am struggling to find them online in the UK (the link above included!). Hats off to Emma for being brave enough to speak about it in the public domain, be proud that you will help others by doing so. I cannot understand why GPs seem to dismiss PCOS so easily, surely it is worth dealing with earlier rather than later? oxox
I was a hairy teenager, oh the mortification of it all 😢😢 however my friend lent me her lumea essential (about £200) and it REALLY works. I feel so much more confident now getting undressed....only need to worry about my wobbly bits now lol! I never dreamt it would work but it has so it is worth the money if your hair really upsets you like it did me x
Thanks for this video Nadine. After years of shaving, tweezing, epilating and waxing I have finally taken the plunge and purchased the Phillips Lumea which is currently on offer with £100 off at Boots. Cannot wait for it to arrive and get started with it, especially on those pesky hairs that have started cropping up where they are not wanted since menopause! x
Surprised you didn't mention electrolysis. I'm currently having electrolysis treatment on my chin and upper lip and it's the ONLY thing that's worked to permanently get rid of hairs completely. Quite painful but I don't care because it works so well. I stupidly started plucking hairs many years ago and of course they came back darker and stronger to the point you could see them obviously with the naked eye, and I was sick of shaving every day so I'm getting electrolysis now. Worth every penny/cent. I had IPL laser done a few years ago but it never gets rid of the lighter colour hairs and I'm dark blonde. They also won't use lasers on moles but WILL do with electrolysis, another advantage.
I was so mortified by my sideburns and mustache in middle school. My sideburns are pretty much the length of my ear and my hair dresser trims them lol. But I wax my mustache. The fuzz on my cheeks doesn't bother me just my dark brown mustache.
Weird experiences for me - 2/3rds of my hair fell out when I developed Lupus. Kevin Murphy hair products (also biotin) got me 1/3 back so happy with that. But virtually all my eyebrows went from really thick to barely there. I started taking biotin every day and my eyebrows are back but so is the hair on my lip and sideburns. Unsure what to do. I am so relieved at getting my eyebrows back I pretty much ignore the rest. The baby hairs all over my head making me want to rejoice :-)
I’m currently using a men’s Bic razor to shave my face!!! I’m very unfortunate to hav dark hair everywhere so I hav to shave my face but I love everything about it I jus dnt like having to shave every 3 days!!!! I need to sav n get that laser hair remover mak my life whole lot easier!!!!! Love ur video content it’s original, informative n my all time fav channel!!!!
I had cancer last year. I'm going to be 50 in July, and I have more blonde facial hair now than ever before. And I have a little saver and it just makes it shorter. I would love to just have it all gone
I use the flawless electronic mini razor, recommended by Hot and Flashy. It gets rid of my white fluff, but not as close a shave as using dermabladding.
Joanne Cortese i use it too! It is very gentle on the skin without any irritation. But i would like that it would be a bit more closer to the skin as i have neither much nor long facial hair and some it doesnt get rid off 😅
I've had electrolysis for over a year, used to use tweezers, everyday, the beautician said it was the worst thing you can do for facial hair, as they grow in so much more, it's been long but made a massive difference to my face
Pearl Hamilton I tweeze my chin nearly everyday, does electrolysis get rid of the hair completely? I’m scared of permanent scarring and burns. Otherwise I would have done electrolysis, I don’t care how long it will take as long as my face is hair free
Have you tried the Tria laser? Unlike the other products available it is an actual laser, not IPL. I have really think hair and IPL didn’t work for me, but Tria is. Only problem is you can only do a 1cm circle at a time so it takes ages.
Good to know about the time commitment before I purchase a Tria ... Thank you for sharing your personal experience. When you factor in the time and expenses for shaving -- and that shaving is non-permanent -- it makes fiscal and practical sense to find a permanent solution to unwanted hair.
Well I learned something today ... I have fine hair on my face, who knew? I've honestly never looked that closely, but like Nadine I quite like it! It is very fine and pale, which is lucky I guess as I'm 58 and well into the menopause. However, having had a close look, I spotted a few nose hairs that I might pluck out now, but I think I'll pass on all the torture implements that were demonstrated!!
I could watch your videos all day long Nadin, your such an inspiration. I absolutely love anything beauty and make up it’s my passion. Any jobs going please let me know 😆
Medical Grade IPL works. The IPL you get in a normal salon won't cut it. You need the more powerful machines, run by nurses and medics. Once every 2 weeks for your first 2 sessions, then 4 weeks apart. I had 4 sessions on my legs and they've been hair free for 6 years, then started coming back very sparse. I had my whole nether regions done as a Brazilian, with IPL, I've hardly got a hair there and the hair between my thigh crease never grew back. I had really thick, tree stump hair, with two or three black hairs in each pore, even my breasts had dark hair, it was soul destroying. I spent every penny I had on hair removal, nothing spent on holidays, clothes etc. But it was worth it! Get this done before you're 50, ladies, you won't regret it.
@@blaizekcivon7831 hello💖 it can only be administrated by a Nurse or Dr. The IPL used is much stronger than that found in a high street beauty salon in the UK but not as damaging as a high powered laser is in the wrong hands. Hope this helps, I am no medic but spent a long time finding something that worked on my very thick, three hairs to a pore problem!
I have been using spearmint capsules , taken twice a day and it’s really slowed down the growth . Laser is also great when you can afford it . Otherwise , shaving it is the only way. I cannot emphasise enough how well spearmint works for me
I am not surprised that the spearmint capsules are helping since spearmint helps reduce the testosterone levels that can be a cause of facial hair growth in mature women.
I just got the philips ipl a few weeks ago and i think my leg hairs are already growing in less dense..i'm dealing with italian genes and i have moustache, occasional beard hair poking though and all the usual places..really hope it will solve my problem
Thanks for that girls I did manage to catch most of your ideas, theres shave a little, zap a little, pluck a little, and no plucking at all. I'll continue to cream up and pluck.
Emma please get tested for PCOS if you haven't already. I have PCOS and it doesn't just give you the annoying excess facial hair. It also affects how you process sugar and makes you prone to diabetes and heart disease. There is a long list of side effects like trouble losing weight, irregular periods, trouble getting pregnant. It is treatable so it's good to see a doctor to see if they can help reduce your symptoms. Take care.
Dermaplaning/shaving is the best. I do entire face, forehead, nose, cheeks, everything with those little pastel razors that come in a 3 pack. Once every couple of weeks is plenty, regrowth is slow and not terribly prickly with the vellous hair. Plus I'm getting excellent exfoliation at the same time, loads of dead skin comes off! Sideburns might be pretty prickly though.
Here’s the problem. As we get older, our eyesight gets worse, and that means we need a magnifying mirror. THAT’s when you see all those hairs (and other things) that make you nuts. I just tried using some Nair waxing strips, and they worked pretty well on some areas of my face. Unfortunately, I removed a small layer of skin under my nose that looks awful!!! I’ve tried shaving and it only lasts a short time. I want to try an epilator.
Totally feel ur pain My dad always jokes about when he first saw me after being born I had side burns and hair trail done my back...lotsa dark black hair everywhere ! I gradually and only slightly grew out of some but have had to wax etc since teen years. I’m having a helluva time finding something in my 40s. I blame heredity and being 98% German. ✌️✊💪🤟 Emma (ironically)
Nadine if you get rid of the blond down I promise you will never have it back... it makes a world of difference in how your makeup goes on! Also, when I had my salon I literally waxed my whole face... it was FAB! It’s smooth and better than any exfoliating... smooth as can be!!! There’s also a cute little battery operated rotating disc shaver that is sold in every colour everywhere and it’s great for those strays. 💞
Loved your segment. I have also used all of the above hair removals. Love the epilator and have a wonderful product me flashing light that is permanent and does all hair types and skin types. If you have tried everything and nothing works try the braun epilator and the me, it guarantees permanent hair removal on all hair types and I love it. Good job ladies...look forward to watching more videos.
A Poster mentioned using Spearmint Capsules. What a great idea! 😊 PCOS is actually Insulin Resistance, so it makes sense that a natural anti-Testosterone, in this case the Spearmint, would work to reduce the hair growth. Natural Progesterone can also help with slowing or stopping unwanted hair growth ... It may also help reverse hair loss. A diet that lowers insulin levels, such as the Ketogenic diet, or even a Vegan-Keto diet would keep insulin levels low enough to lower hormone levels in both PCOS sufferers and those going through Menopause or peri-menopause. Nothing beats a Try ... and going very low carb Keto for a month or two may also help with regulating monthly menstrual cycles in the premenopausal women. And also slow down hair loss. Love the Video! Appreciate all the women who commented on What Works/Didn't Work. So helpful ❤
I’ve been using Silk’n Flash & Go which acts the same exact way with the Philips machine you have. It also has five levels and needs full contact with the skin before it will flash. It was C$300 and fits in the size of my hand. It’s slowed down my hair growth a little bit. I suspect it’ll take half a year before I’m satisfied with the results.
Emma for permanent removal of facial hair forget relying on shaving, plucking, waxing, DIY laser, find a good electrologist with up to date equipment. You will not regret it. Go to the Hairtell.com lots of info.
I think I still carry emotional scars from my facial hair. I was in my 30’s before I finally had the money to afford electrolysis, which did take care of the problem. Even in menopause , it is nothing like it was then. What I did not know, until the electrolysis people pointed it out, what that I had a hormone imbalance. Please tell younger women with a lot of hair to get tested because it can be corrected and then the hair, once removed, will stay away.
Lesley Goldberg Did electrolysis work for you? Please answer, this condition is giving me an anxiety, sometimes I don’t leave my house for days due to this condition. I’m definitely going to do electrolysis, but I’m afraid that it gives me burns or permanent scarring.
I despise all those supposedly cheap lil face razors.... for the past 5 years I have been using an expensive men’s 3 to 4 blade razor every other day (with a thin coating of face balm..... all of my face, neck, upper lip, chin, nose (yes that fuzz down my nose) forehead!!! I have the smoothest face that accepts all products remarkably well! ..... I also use a Phillips men’s nose trimmer for ears and nose! Works wonders, easy, no cuts, no bleach, etc!!!!! Awesome!!!!! Seriously solves every issue!!!!
Thanks so much for the video. I have epilated for the first time and it wasnt to bad, I just cannot afford the laser ones would love to own one though. You both look fabulous xx
Love you have covered this subject , I suffer with awful facial hair but I’m fair and my hair is red. The hair is course though, it really upsets me and as yet haven’t found a solution 😢 Any help much appreciated xx
Electrolysis. Permanently gets rid of hairs that lasers won't- grey and blonde hairs. I'm getting it done at the moment and I'm blonde but many of the chin hairs were quite dark and coarse it's the only thing that has gotten rid of them for good. Get a recommendation for a good practitioner as there are some cowboys out there who don't do it properly. €15 for 15 minute session, €30 for 30 minutes- Irish prices.
Vicky Keating-Brown You're welcome 🙂 I understand, having been through it myself and it really sapped my confidence and made me very self conscious of it. I hated having to shave nearly every day like a guy. Some people get laser hair removal done first then use electrolysis on the hairs that remain (ones laser won't get rid of like white, blonde or grey, or hairs on moles). I did this but some hairs came back after laser. Personally I find electrolysis more targeted, cheaper and is fully permanent. Laser is often touted as permanent but actually it's not necessarily. Laser does massively reduce hair coarseness and numbers and can destroy root follicles if done properly but it can regrow if the follicle is just damaged and mostly puts hairs into dormancy. They grew back lighter, finer and fewer but I wanted them GONE so am having electrolysis. Depends on many factors which way you choose like cost, access to technicians (good electrolysis techs can be hard to find here at least where I live as laser has taken over from it a lot), pain tolerance, and the results you're looking for. Best of luck and I hope you have success in tackling it :) Feel free to ask if you have any more questions.
@@heidihyndman I'm really sorry to hear that :( I'm not sure how that happened but I'm nearing the end of my treatments - now only get one done every two months and 95% are gone and not regrowing. I presumed you did your background checks and got a recommendation for an accredited technician before you started? The equipment was in modern, clean and in good working condition? (I went to one place where it didn't!) They should have sat you down and explained everything about how the treatment works including the biological process of hair growth and how they're formed in the follicles, and what to expect from the treatment- managing expectations, the timeframe and how many treatments it will likely take, pain levels/pain management during and after, how to get the best from each session including what NOT to do, how they will blend it into vellus hair for a natural look, and aftercare requirements, in a free unhurried consultation before making an appointment for the actual treatment itself. That's what mine did for at least half hour, Without all that you will not get the desired result. My technician takes pride in her work and told me she would rather not take my money than not do a professional job where the customer was not 100% satisfied and getting visible results. She is the best I have ever met at her job. That's what you should look for and not settle for anything less. A year is a long time to not see permanent results! Did it grow back straight away? Do you have any medical conditions like PCOS that cause hirsuteness?
Love this video, Nadine and Emma! - how refreshingly honest. It’s about time we talked about this, openly. It must affect so many women. What about using acids and retinol alongside the Philips IPL? I’m sure the instructions on mine advised not to use acids in the week before using the gadget (iirc?) What do you do, Nadine? Do you stop using acids in the week before using it? And does it make melasma brown spots worse? And - we need more info on your 30x mirror please!
Have never identified with a tutorial guest so much . I’ve been epilating entire face , jaw , neck ( used to do pits as well ) and bikini area . Watching this as I’m unpacking and shaving what’s grown in . At age where dark hairs going white , so running out of time to use this tec .
Hi Nadine.... A question about the Phillips IPL. I have had the IPL done in the Day Spa...... They have also used it for sun damage and pigmentation. Does the Phillips Lumea work for that as well? It sounds like the same thing I have done in the Skin Spa.....
I'm curious about your skin care routine with laser hair removal. I give myself weekly treatment with the Tria laser. I understand it's different from the Philips but I believe the treatment is similar. So, how do you use actives like retinol, vitamin C, etc and give yourself laser. I only use actives on my forehead and cheeks where the laser doesn't contact and I crave the opportunity to use actives all over my face.
I’m now perimenopausal, with all the joys that hormonal chaos brings. I have a number of dark chin hairs now. I can’t afford treatments or home lasers so it’s plucking ahoy. What’s plucking annoying is that I get spots where the hairs are growing through, so now my chin/jaw looks like a teenage boy’s....😡
I am using the Bellabe which is a gadget that actually pulls the hair out by the roots, and leave my skin soft and smooth. I also find that my hair grows back slower and finer.
Hi.can we use the ordinary buffet, niacinamide and the ordinary hyaluronic acid with laser hair removal treatment.plz reply because I bought philps Ipl and need to know in detail.thanks
I used the No!No! for All unwanted hair, and it Permanently removed it within 5 treatments. They weren't even consistent treatments, because I'm forgetful lol.
Thank you for this video. I have PCOS and my facial hair is bad😢 Or maybe is only bad for me coz my partner said many times that he can't see anything really bad. But for me it something really upsetting and I think that is only one thinkg what other people will see 😵 and yes, I do use face shavers. But I think that Philips device maybe a solution 😊 I'm glad that there are other ladies with same problems
I epilated my upper lip for years on of those little phillips face epilators, not painful at all. mind you I have soft blonde hair there, now I have just spent a month or tow elctrocuting with a home electrolysis machine also not painful at all.
I use the eyebrow shavers like the one Emma had, I have very light hair but around my jaw line up to my ears it can get quite dense especially now that I am getting older, I remove that maybe once a month and I just feel my make up sits on my skin better :) I think there is such a stigma on facial hair with women, while most do some kind of removal on their body why not on the face too? Thanks for making this video @Nadine and once again breaking a stigma in the beauty world! (that's why I love you so much!)
Thanks for the video. I'm extremely self conscious of my facial hair although they're mainly blonde. Will the at home ipl aggravate melasma? I know that professional lasers can make melasma worse if not done correctly .
I don’t understand this trend for women shaving off the peach fuzz hair off their faces. Surely they will eventually get stubble? Unless I sprout one of the thick black coarse pube type hairs - usually on my chin or near my ear- I don’t bother. This is really why super hd cameras and magnifying mirrors do nothing for anyone’s self confidence. Nobody has looked at their skin using one of these and not found some sort of imperfection. Ladies need to give themselves a break and accept we have hair, pores and so does everyone else!
This Girl Can I hear you! I go through phases of shaving my peach fuzz and LOVE the results especially when applying makeup. However, it just grows right back and the prickly phase drives me mad. So, I end up growing it past the prickly phase only to shave it off again at some point. 💁🏻♀️
I love the feeling of my face after shaving it and it looks so glow and youthful for whatever reason.....but my body and facial hair grow FAST. Like if I shave my legs for a hot date (lol I'm married) in the morning, they will absolutely be stubbly by supper time. So it feels like I'm shaving more often than most men because I'm terrified that someone will notice the hairs growing back in. It's a cycle type thing where once you do it, it's quite hard to decide to just stop one day:(
@@heatherjane910 Hahaha! I've never let it get to that prickly phase. If I could handle that I could probably scare myself out of doing it again lol. Instead I just shave all the time and gosh it sure is alot of upkeep:/
I use one of those exfoliating peels you use on dry skin. You let the gel get a milky color, then in a circular motion, go over your face. It all balls up, and if you have peach fuzz on your face, these balls stick to the peach fuzz. They don't rinse off, they don't wash off. They're very noticeable because they're white, hanging there off the fuzz on your face. The hair above my lip turned dark, while the rest is blonde. Hormones, I guess....lol
I always plucked my eyebrows til they were thin Now the hair doesn't grow and brows gone grey . . I did nt really start plucking my moustache area til I was 63. Though some one once said, they were kids, being nasty said I had moustache. I had a mole on my chin which I had removed - But still the hair grew just there and I hate it. Sometimes I pluck so much that I pluck the skin off. I am epilating my legs and hate my bikini line.
I absolutley loved listening to Emma in this video and the thinnng hair videos. I find her absolutley adorable and so fun to listen to, could listen all day long.
Anastasia Pentias I've tried IPL bits not doing anything...what's the difference between IPL and Electrolysis???
naz kousar it's a needle aimed at the root of the follicle, that zaps electricity in order to destroy it permanently. I was saved.
Anastasia Pentias ..I need to try this..is it expensive? Roughly how many sessions do u need?
naz kousar you'll be done in about a year's time if you do your monthly sessions.
Thanks for tackling this sensitive subject with style, humor and grace. And loads and loads of brutal honesty!
Yes- keep a pair in the car too! Best light ever for facial hair! Something about natural light and being physically so close to a mirror!!
Epilation is permanent?
After having chemo 10 yrs ago I developed more peach fuzz on my face than was natural, I was recommended an epilator and I still use one to this day 🤗
Oh my gosh, I just adore you two! Thank you for making me feel so less lonely!
I hate my facial/neck hair. Just started menopause (hysterectomy) at 55. It’s crazy. Thanks for going over the options.
Bravo for talking about this honestly and openly. I always thought something was wrong with me. I loved your ideas.
Yes, Braun epil my vellus and top lip. Yes, hurts a bit at first, but only have to do it every 4 weeks💋
My friend in school had side burns and I always found them beautiful.
Yep, the car mirror and the tweezers.
I also agree...and not to mention there’s nothing better that outdoor daylight light!!! 😀
I do car thing all the time. Better lighting
Thank you for being so frank and explaining this so well. You have described so much of what I tell my friends. Many still do not want to talk about it, but once I state my menopause problems they come forward about their issues and are so happy it isn't just them.
THREADING - magic for your upper lip, least irritating option I've tried, haven't tried laser yet, but my friends have and they swear by it x
Thank you for addressing facial hair, refreshing!
The nose waxing would remove my skin as well. Men grooming sets by Wahl or Philips have a nose hair trimmer which is ideal.
I've been going for laser hair removal, too scared to do the at home lasers though. So far I've had amazing results. I feel emma with the sideburns. At school I purposely kept my hair short enough so I could wear it loose and not have to tie it up😂😂
Thanks for keeping it real ladies! I have used them all even in home lasers. My preference is battery operated shavers and of course the tweezers!
For years I used a cream hair remover on my upper lip. Then I bought an IPL and I will warn ladies that it hurts at maximum strength on your upper lip. You have to have it at maximum to work the best so use a numbing cream.
Thanks so much for
Doing the video - makes you feel not alone!
hipretty I totally agree with you ! I have a RUclips channel on skincare and why I am against Derma planing...
I cannot understand why GPs seem to dismiss PCOS so easily, surely it is worth dealing with earlier rather than later? oxox
Ann Margaret i
You two are fabulous together...
On this subject watch Dr Dray she is a Dermatologist ABSOLUTELY all the info you need on her you tube
I have had problems with facial hair for 15 years thank you for this video
How much does it cost?
Probably location dependent but where I am-Ireland it's €15 for 15 minutes and €30 for half an hour.
I was so mortified by my sideburns and mustache in middle school. My sideburns are pretty much the length of my ear and my hair dresser trims them lol. But I wax my mustache. The fuzz on my cheeks doesn't bother me just my dark brown mustache.
Yup, I followed Caroline Barnes but have been thinking of doing the IPL for quite a while - it just needs to be a good deal
Awe thanks for talking about this! We should normalize having the conversations.
But i would like that it would be a bit more closer to the skin as i have neither much nor long facial hair and some it doesnt get rid off 😅
Flawless Touch love it!
Joanne Cortese me too! It only arrived last week but I need to regularly use it. I didn’t realise I had so much fine hair on my face yikes!
I'm so lazy. I just the eyebrow blade on the face and a regular razor on my "sole patch" I really can't be bothered to do anything else and it works!
I've had electrolysis for over a year, used to use tweezers, everyday, the beautician said it was the worst thing you can do for facial hair, as they grow in so much more, it's been long but made a massive difference to my face
Me too Pearl, I made such a mess by tweezing.. Electrolysis saved me :)
Same here! I wish more people knew about it.
Pearl Hamilton
I tweeze my chin nearly everyday, does electrolysis get rid of the hair completely? I’m scared of permanent scarring and burns. Otherwise I would have done electrolysis, I don’t care how long it will take as long as my face is hair free
Selma Ahmed yes.....works well ..no scars from a good salon...but keep going it takes a while.
Have you tried the Tria laser? Unlike the other products available it is an actual laser, not IPL. I have really think hair and IPL didn’t work for me, but Tria is. Only problem is you can only do a 1cm circle at a time so it takes ages.
Good to know about the
time commitment before
I purchase a Tria ...
Thank you for sharing
your personal experience.
When you factor in the
time and expenses for
shaving -- and that shaving
is non-permanent -- it makes
fiscal and practical sense to
find a permanent solution to
unwanted hair.
Seagreentangerine what’s medical grade IPL?
@@blaizekcivon7831 hello💖 it can only be administrated by a Nurse or Dr. The IPL used is much stronger than that found in a high street beauty salon in the UK but not as damaging as a high powered laser is in the wrong hands. Hope this helps, I am no medic but spent a long time finding something that worked on my very thick, three hairs to a pore problem!
And if you are 53?
@@bibbiana4Lyfe Yes why before you are 50 @seagreentangerine?
I have been using spearmint capsules , taken twice a day and it’s really slowed down the growth . Laser is also great when you can afford it . Otherwise , shaving it is the only way. I cannot emphasise enough how well spearmint works for me
Helen Williams , could you share which spearmint capsules you’ve had please? Very interested in trying them, thanks.
I am not surprised that the spearmint capsules are helping since spearmint helps reduce the testosterone levels that can be a cause of facial hair growth in mature women.
Whenwegetthere Willtherebewifi
Yes spearmint capsules works, I take the Swanson spectrum brand.. it really slows down the regrowth for me.
Whenwegetthere Willtherebewifi they are Swanson . The tea helps too
Im post menopausal and get some dark and white chin hairs, what is the best procedure?
I just got the philips ipl a few weeks ago and i think my leg hairs are already growing in less dense..i'm dealing with italian genes and i have moustache, occasional beard hair poking though and all the usual places..really hope it will solve my problem
This was hilarious!! Informative yet so hilarious, thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you both xx
Thanks for the review on the Phillips, I’ve been wanting to get one for ages...might be an early Xmas present 🎁
Thanks for that girls I did manage to catch most of your ideas, theres shave a little, zap a little, pluck a little, and no plucking at all. I'll continue to cream up and pluck.
Waxing nose hairs! My god, woman, you are superhuman! 🏆 😁 (I use a little trimmer and tweezers.)
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😄
Totally feel ur pain
My dad always jokes about when he first saw me after being born
I had side burns and hair trail done my back...lotsa dark black hair everywhere !
I gradually and only slightly grew out of some but have had to wax etc since teen years.
I’m having a helluva time finding something in my 40s. I blame heredity and being 98% German.
✌️✊💪🤟
Emma (ironically)
I'm African-American but was always described as a fuzzy baby by my family. When puberty kicked in OMG.
Emma's cheekbones are amazing
I tweeze or use facial epilator. Have tried the string method thingy (can't remember what it's called) & waxing but i'll get acne after that
I love epilating ! Been doing it for years! Now I bought the Lazer that you’re holding and I’m lost!
Good job ladies...look forward to watching more videos.
ruth davis doesn’t the epilator hurt like hell???
A Poster mentioned
using Spearmint Capsules.
What a great idea! 😊
PCOS is actually Insulin
Resistance, so it makes sense
that a natural anti-Testosterone,
in this case the Spearmint,
would work to reduce the
hair growth.
Natural Progesterone can
also help with slowing or
stopping unwanted hair
growth ...
It may also help reverse
hair loss.
A diet that lowers insulin
levels, such as the
Ketogenic diet, or even a
Vegan-Keto diet would keep
insulin levels low enough to
lower hormone levels in both
PCOS sufferers and those
going through Menopause
or peri-menopause.
Nothing beats a Try ...
and going very low carb Keto
for a month or two may also
help with regulating monthly
menstrual cycles in the
premenopausal women.
And also slow down hair loss.
Love the Video!
Appreciate all the
women who commented on
What Works/Didn't Work.
So helpful ❤
I use tweezers, hot wax, Braun epilator, razor and threading. Now I'm looking up options on home laser IPL
Can u plzz tell me how your experience with epilator
Nadine you are such a beauty knows it all inside out. Love love your videos and I'm becoming so addicted.
Hi. Are you still using it. How is the result,,,specially for facial hair
Emma is fab! Those epilators are like combine harvesters on your skin!!!❤️❤️
I should add that this was in the days before lasers.
.me too. Electrolysis will get rid of fair hair that laser can't.
Yes, electrolysis can zap blond and grey hairs. So many treatments only work on dark hair/light skin combo.
Lesley Goldberg
Did electrolysis work for you?
Tweezers & shave off the blond fuzz 👍
Love you have covered this subject , I suffer with awful facial hair but I’m fair and my hair is red. The hair is course though, it really upsets me and as yet haven’t found a solution 😢
Any help much appreciated xx
Electrolysis. Permanently gets rid of hairs that lasers won't- grey and blonde hairs. I'm getting it done at the moment and I'm blonde but many of the chin hairs were quite dark and coarse it's the only thing that has gotten rid of them for good. Get a recommendation for a good practitioner as there are some cowboys out there who don't do it properly. €15 for 15 minute session, €30 for 30 minutes- Irish prices.
greenknitter Thankyou so much I will certainly look into it. Really gets me down. X
Best of luck and I hope you have success in tackling it :)
Feel free to ask if you have any more questions.
@@greenknitter I did electrolysis for a year. All the hair came back. :(
@@heidihyndman I'm really sorry to hear that :(
I'm not sure how that happened but I'm nearing the end of my treatments - now only get one done every two months and 95% are gone and not regrowing.
My skin care cal suggests Derma planing to remove peach fuzz and surface dry skin. What do you think?
Love this video, Nadine and Emma! - how refreshingly honest. It’s about time we talked about this, openly. It must affect so many women. What about using acids and retinol alongside the Philips IPL? I’m sure the instructions on mine advised not to use acids in the week before using the gadget (iirc?) What do you do, Nadine? Do you stop using acids in the week before using it? And does it make melasma brown spots worse? And - we need more info on your 30x mirror please!
Bump!
Oh the joys of facial hair! 😩
You mention an earlier video about hair loss (on your head ) & products that work - can you send me a link to that?
Nadine and Emma....brilliant and suuuuuuper funny ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
I’d wish you let the dark haired girl speak. I wanted to hear her story
Yes! All about my home IPL- Philips lumea prestige, I had rave reviews from 2 gal pals and am now converted🙏🏻 Great topic to cover x
Thanks for the video. I'm extremely self conscious of my facial hair although they're mainly blonde. Will the at home ipl aggravate melasma? I know that professional lasers can make melasma worse if not done correctly .
You ladies are beautiful and the kitty is perfection...
Hi Nadine! Love your videos. I was wondering if you could tell me the US model equivalent of the laser that you use. Thank you so much.
Hahhaa I thought I was the only one finger tweezing in meetings. Busted!!
Jen the bubble Kind of hard when you go to school and every 10 seconds some guy remarks that you have a “mustache” ☹️
I shave now that my blonde hair gets annoying dark and coarse premenopausal company on my chin.
Thanks for that video - the biggest beauty issue I have. I only wax my face, just too scared of bristles. 😨👍Liz xxx
I always plucked my eyebrows til they were thin
Now the hair doesn't grow and brows gone grey .
