    Thank you for making the detailed video. I was thinking about lambo doors but I think that what you have gone through is beyond the chances that I would want to take. Your video was very explanatory and I appreciate your efforts

      Thanks Dave! Yeah, it was always a blast to see the reactions from kids when I’d take the car out, but I found the doors to be too finicky for my taste… was much happier overall when I had it converted back to stock.

    So basically, after cutting and slicing up your car, these doors will royally screwup everything, scrape the paint, destroy the finish, eat the leather edges and hit the body panels everywhere every single day of your life. And from now on they'll need adjusting every 5 minutes & a half and they'll get misaligned again by the time you finished the last adjustment. What a great deal! Sorry these are not lambo doors, these are lemon doors. You don't own the car anymore, the doors now own you!

      Michael Mushi you’ve summed up my experience pretty accurately! I do want to note however, some people (few) report no or few issues, so to some extent anyways, I think my issues may be because my installer wasn’t experienced working with these. Irregardless, I’m done with them

    A few things, 1. The doors NEVER move around when installed correctly. They don't "shift" as mentioned. This is typically the excuse shops say to justify the damage or incorrect alignment of the door. Inexperience is the cause of this. 2. Your door gaps both at the fender side and back of the door side are massively incorrect. Again, this is due to improper installation. None the less, i know this video is a few years old, but we would like to help you if you still having these issues. We fix about 20-30 cars every month nationwide due to "local shops" who say they can do it and end up with more problems like you have here. We are the only company that specializes in lambo doors and we come directly to the customer's house to install. If your still having issues, get in touch with us at www.eikonmotorsports.com. We have installs in the bay area pretty often.

    Hey man, thank goodness I came across your video because I was seriously thinking of doing this but then thought that this was a big mod and might mess things up.... Thanks Robert, I'm glad I was able to help sway you from doing this, it really wasn't worth it :/ (But I agree, it looked cool) Your Vette looks sweet, I think I need to get ceramic coating this spring, my paint has so many swirls and hard water stains it sad! :(

    • @blazing9034
      @blazing9034 5 лет назад +1

      1Brain4Wheels yes, you saved me from a huge headache and I also saw other reviews that were not in favor of this mod..... I would have sold the car shortly after if it started to give me issues after a mod I did. You should definitely get it Ceramic coated because during the paint correction process, they will make your car look new again. I guess the mods I can do are limited because I really do try not to mess with major stuff.... the ACS website has some cool stuff, my winglets will arrive tomorrow and I plan to change my front splitter to a stage 2 within the next month or so. Hope your doors went back to the perfect way the used to be. Peaceeeeee and drive safely Bro

    Hi 1Brain, This proves in this particular case, GM knew what they were doing when they designed the C7 body/doors. I think most of us who have done mods on our cars in the past, know that there are risks, pros and at times cons to reaching for perfection beyond the original manufacturer's design. I'm sure there are some that would tolerate sacrificing ease of use and dabs of touch-up paint for the impressive looks. Thank you for performing the experiment for other Vette owners, which allows them to make an informed decision if they were contemplating taking the plunge themselves one day. I however love the looks of the stock body/doors on my Vette so freaken much, that I would not make such a mod. Sorry you had to learn this the hard & $$$ way. Considering the material that had to be cut out, will it be possible to ever restore the doors to their original design and reliability?

    • @1Brain4Wheels
      @1Brain4Wheels  6 лет назад

      Thanks, yeah hopefully this helps others figure out if this is really a mod for them... Yeah, I mean it will never look factory back where the fender was cut, but if you swap back on the old hinges it will function 100% factory, so I'd say it's pretty much reversible-the minor body modifications aren't, but most people wouldn't notice and that's a pretty inconspicuous area of the car for people to be looking at anyways so all said and done it's not too big of a deal that it didn't work out, just more $ spent than necessary... it ate into my exhaust mod budget haha

    This problem is why Chevrolet does not offer scissors doors as an option.

    • @1Brain4Wheels
      @1Brain4Wheels  6 лет назад +1

      I can somewhat agree with that, but I image if an OEM was putting doors like this on their cars, they could engineer everything to work dynamically with each other to help prevent some of my problems that have arisen because it was developed as an add-on... But anytime you make something that's initially simple more complex, issues will definitely arise. I've never owned a Lamborghini or even the i8, but I have to assume the doors work okay on those cars?

    Thanks for the review Brian! I've been considering doing this on my car as well. Some kits claim to better than others. How much of a factor do you think the kit plays in performance and do you have any reccomendations?

    • @1Brain4Wheels
      @1Brain4Wheels  6 лет назад +1

      Hey Joseph, thanks for watching! That's a good question, when I got the kit one of the first things I noticed was how heavy & solid feeling it is-it's definitely built very well and I feel that it's likely one of the better kits to go with since VDI is one of the more prominent companies that manufactures these types of kits and I think they have a good amount of credibility in this specialty, so that's why I went with them. That being said, a smaller company I've heard of is Dream Car Custom (www.dreamcarcustom.com/) and a Corvette specialty shop local-ish to me recommended their kit, so that might be worth looking into? But honestly, most of my disappointment is probably less due to the kit, but rather due to the installation, which is widely regarded on various forums as being a huge PITA and hard to perfect, but my installer really did try his best and he did good for this being his first try... if you can find someone to install one of these kits who has experience, I would cautiously recommend, but definitely not a job for a novice. But, they look cool so I know it's a tough choice... :)

    • @1Brain4Wheels
      @1Brain4Wheels  6 лет назад

      TDGame1 yeah, they're honestly really cool to look at, but if you daily your Corvette it's probably going to get annoying after a while... I'll give Eric (my installer) a mulligan since this was the first kit he had had his hands on and he was doing me a solid installing it when a lot of other people wouldn't even touch it (which is odd since CA is practically the capital of auto customization right??)

    • @1Brain4Wheels
      @1Brain4Wheels  3 года назад

      Hi Geraldo, while I think the Vertical Doors kit I bought was actually pretty well made, another vendor I’ve heard good things about is Dream Car Customs dreamcarcustom.com/c7-vertical-door-kit
      Their kit has double shocks on each door, so it might be a little easier to lift up for some? Definitely worth looking into! Overall I didn’t really find the cool looks of scissor doors worth the hassle, especially on a daily driver, so I ended up going back to stock. I think it depends a lot on how you plan to use the car on whether or not it’s a justifiable modification. :)

      Surprisingly that was one of the possible issues that my car didn't suffer from... but it is definitely a possibility and I have heard others that have had the scissor door hinges installed complain of water leaks. It's avoidable though, you just have to get the doors aligned perfectly for a good seal.

      I have always been a pretty relaxed and easy-going person and try not to get my blood pressure up too high, even when things go south... but don't take my lack of expression as being passive (spoiler, I'm having the hinges removed soon) I guess I'm used to things going wrong due to my profession in R&D so I'm used to seeing issues arise and picking right back up to start again with a modified plan in mind! Also, good use of the word phlegmatic (I'm not being sarcastic)

You truly had a bad experience and I apologize on their behalf but, the alignment is what matters and won't change through weather conditions. It only makes a difference on the spring reaction. Wish you had a better experience but your giving mis information to the world. All that you are explaining goes to the installation process and should be explained before
