I love how she plays the beginning calmly, which is practically unheard of. It makes me picture the calm ripples in the water against the boat as it gently rocks, the sun’s reflection on them sparkling like diamonds, before the clouds begin setting in.
She handles the two big crescendos masterfully. She really makes the sea "angry". There is so much depth of expression in the slow parts. She doesn't rush those parts. Beautiful performance!
Really?? My favorite part was the beginning where everything is just so lightly calming. I dont have a problem with the louder parts, its just very gentle and pretty it makes me feel at ease.
I raised a silent objection in my mind to the languid way she commences the piece, but in all honesty, she has made the piece her own and delivered to us one of the most persuasive performances I've ever heard or could hope to hear. Absolutely stunning. Congratulations to Martina Filjak on a truly outstanding performance.
That pale blue dot. Yeah, that's earth. This is what music sounds like and is the embodiment of the complexity, wonder, beauty, intrigue and mystery of the human mind. Top that.
You can't. This songs sounds like something you would hear floating endlessly inside nothing, as if the entire universe has perished, and you endlessly reflect on everything
this piece will never be heard the same way as before (which was very uniform along certain lines) she really expanded the concept and with masterful control
That Ravel piece is captivating and this lady does such an emotionally accurate job of describing it to music I pray she is faithful to God’s Word and gets the chance to play this for the King of kings someday!
She has the technical competence to interpret the score in a way that's fearless, and this execution provided several surprises that I enjoyed extremely. I am now a big fan!
bravo martina !
If you're talking about 3:04, yes there is a glissando there. As Ravel wrote it the glissando up begins at G sharp and ends at precisely A sharp, and the glissando back down also begins at precisely A sharp and ends at F sharp. But she overshoots the A sharp quite a bit and also goes way over the F sharp :/ I think people sometimes finger the whole passage because Ravel wrote out all the notes for the passage, but he clearly indicated a glissando. I don't think either is wrong though
The coughing and sniffing from the audience is SO annoying and rude! It’s nine minutes of your life hearing a one of a kind, unique, difficultly learned masterpiece that you will not hear often. Hold in your cough!

That's a very astute observation, thank you. Her interpretation is probably my favorite.
very wonderful interpretation
Awesome!!
I love the tempo she takes!!
Everyone rushes so much it's ridiculous.
there’s a recording of Ravel playing it himself pianists use for tempo reference
this SHOWS the emotion of the sea
so beautiful. The attention to every note is just stunning and breathtaking. I love how she took her time so gracefully.
3:35 is probably my favorite part of the whole piece

Mine's everywhere, but one of my favorites is at 3:52

Best version for this piece ever seen...

That ending is one of the most magically executed i've heard so far
I watch this at least once a week
this piece will never be heard the same way as before (which was very uniform along certain lines) she really expanded the concept and with masterful control
The best interpretation of this piece so far (in my opinion). She really embodied the calm and rages of ocean.

Exactement! J'adore les différents visions poétiques...
That key change at 6:07 is just........ buttery goodness
I watched this 20 times and cried each time

Beautiful girl - beautiful piece.
Martina is a great artist! One of the big promises of our generation in my opinion
Superb performance with excellent dynamic control, gorgeous tonal quality and nuances, expressive depth and technical excitement. Bravissimo!!!!
Oh this sounds so wonderful.
Oh so smooth and clean!
SO beautiful and musical! Congrats. Ravel is an amazing genius.
She has the technical competence to interpret the score in a way that's fearless, and this execution provided several surprises that I enjoyed extremely. I am now a big fan!
Waouh !! Superb, I'm speechless...
i got shivers the whole performance. she played it with every fibers of her being.
The sounds emanating from this piece must represent the limit of what you could write down in musical notation.
Lovely.
quel beau jeu, fondamentalement -ce qui n'exclut nullement les progressions et nuances-) doux. Bravo. Michel Prady
Gorgeous! Love it 💕
C’est magnifique!!
Absolutely my favourite interpretation of this piece, to the point where if I listen to any other now it just sounds wrong! Gorgeous playing

fantastico! greetings from spain
the composer = genius, the pianist = almost genius.
beautifully delicate, but violent when it needs to be, what a performance
this is such an amazing interp my personal favorite is vitally pisarenkos
Wow
Prekrasno :)
Tellement sensuelle et inspirée, cette approche.
“Mamma mia” 🥹
are there different versions for this piece? I've heard other renditions that didn't have certain parts, like the glissando

You're correct. Ravel wrote the glissandi out limiting the range. She takes liberties by overshooting, but that is part of her interpretation.
if i could play just one song this would be it,/,
I think all other performances of this piece will be measured against this.
The coughing and sniffing from the audience is SO annoying and rude! It’s nine minutes of your life hearing a one of a kind, unique, difficultly learned masterpiece that you will not hear often. Hold in your cough!
Tyler ???? Weirdo
She plays it a bit slower than most interpretations I’ve heard
1:04
She's playing with feel
hot
I hate when people cough obnoxiously during performances
why there’s always someone coughing and ruining the whole vibe
wrong
Paola Bruni is much better than her!
salouni18
Better?? U mean ..different,right?
You try playing this then critique others...
Wow
