in this video I use the new colour to create a 5 inch Milliput sphere, this will be on display on the Milliput stand at Makers Central.
The epoxy resin I used was West Systems G/Flex.

How fascinating to see how to create the spheres! The picture and sound on the indoors part seems good. There's nothing like seeing Milliput being turned on the lathe, and the reveal of the pattern! The final result is beautiful.
Thank you very much Pudding Cat, yes the Reveal is very satisfying.

Hi Jim, well I’m devastated, I was so looking forward to makers central, and damn and blast, hubby booked a holiday as a surprise for my birthday, so we will be away most of May. I can’t be upset with hubby, he thought he was giving me a lovely surprise (which of course he is) but I was going to ask him to take me to makers central as my birthday gift. I was looking forward to meeting you all, as I subscribe to a lot of the people who will have stands. Oh well maybe next year. I do hope it’s a fabulous weekend for you all. And I’m looking forward to seeing all the videos you all make there when I get back from holiday. This was a great milliput project, it really showed the new blue colour beautifully xxxxxxxx
Thank you very much Elaine, sorry you can’t make MC but I’m sure you will have a great holiday.

Have you thought of using a pasta maker to roll the Milliput out?, it should give an even thickness
Thank you Lesley. A lot of people have suggested a past maker but Milliput is far too sticky and would quickly “write off “ a pasta machine. Sometimes you can be rolling it really well and it suddenly sticks fast and ruins everything.
Cheers
Jim
@@JimsonMakes Oh dear, I didn't realise that!
9:15 would it wok if you place it in a think plastic bag and vacuum it out? the bag would press from all sides equally.
Or using the pressure pot might work, but worried about air being trapped inside
It may do but it would leave depressions anywhere that there were voids, this would cause problems when cutting back, a pressure pot may have a slight effect on reducing some porosity but would be unlikely to actually press the Milliput in. I think that the manual method is probably more reliable but great ideas, I may try the vacuum bag one day. Thank you very much for watching.

Hi Jim great video I do hope to see you at M.C. Is it just the blue they are bringing out.
Our will the other colours be coming out soon the green, purple, red,do hope so. Y.N.W.A.
Thank you very much, come and say hi at MC. Just the blue at the moment but they are looking at other colours too.
Cheers
Jim
That came out well. In polymer clay they would call that making a "brain cane" pattern. Neat!
Thank you very much. I have got a very different project coming soon that involves a little bit of polymer clay work.
Cheers
Jim
Looks fantastic 😎 I'll be sure to say hello at MC2019 👍
Thank you very much, see you at MC

Is that your company? Very interesting products. Thank you for sharing!
No not my company, they are a small family business here in the UK who help support my channel, and yes great products with lots of possibilities.
Cheers
Jim
That turned out really cool man
Thank you very much Richard, see you soon.

Jim
Very nice. Could you provide a link or other information about the geometry of turning a sphere?
Thanks very much
Roger Hunter
Thank you very much Roger. The turning of a sphere be the geometric method can be found by a search on RUclips or by googling it although a lot of people use a different method to me. I use an app called Geometrics to give me the octagon measurements, you input the radius of your blank as the inner radius and it will give you the length of the sides. The best way of getting your head round it is to draw it out on paper. It is a really quick and accurate technique once mastered. The diameter of the spindle each side of the sphere should equal the length of the side.
Cheers
Jim
Thank you, Jim. I truly enjoy your 'experiments', they encourage me to try new things also.@@JimsonMakes
Hi Jim, how long till we can get here in the U.S. Great looking project.....
Thank you very much Jeff, the new colour should be with suppliers and distributors in May.
Cheers
Jim
Picture's crisper. Have you cleaned the sensors on the cameras that got dusty? Are you going to make the death star?
Probably a different camera
Well done Jim, or should we name you Ambassador Milliput? You are looking very well, do you know if any of the other trial colours are being put in to production? Take care, Mike
Thank you very much Mike. I don’t know about any other colours yet.

The king of the squidge returned... and there was much rejoicing.

Great stuff. Do you know if milliput sticks to aluminium foil? I was thinking about using it between the layers of milliput. Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much, yes unfortunately it does stick to foil. It also sticks to some baking parchment too, I need to find a reliable one. The black colour is the worst for sticking.
Cheers
Jim
Can you do a planet earth? I think you have the skill!
I could do it but never get enough workshop time to try all these projects.
Cheers
Jim
Jim Overton - Jimson's Stuff this is why you quit your day job and devote all your time to fulfilling the flights of fancy of random RUclips commenters. 😆
i suggested this ones to NZ. but he does not noteses it i guess. lol but is it not good possible to dye and mix white milliput with or pigment or inks during the preparing process. or am i nuts?
Thank you very much for watching. It is possible to colour white Milliput using a paste of pigment powder and slow set epoxy resin but it is messy and many pigments are actually toxic so I tend not to bother.
Cheers
Jim
You should tell viewers that aren't familiar with your UK products what this Milliput stuff is. Here! I'll help you out with the description: Milliput is a UK-based brand of epoxy putty used by modellers, and also for household and restoration applications. Created in 1968 by Jack and Lena Rickman, Milliput was initially marketed for use in DIY and car body repair projects. In 1970, the company realized that the material was used to sculpt models, and started to steer their product towards the modeling market.
Yes I should . I do put links in the description to their website. Thank you very much for watching

Any one got a link to that sphere turning app?
The app I used is called geometrics and is not for Woodturning but for solving geometric problems. You select regular polygon, enter 8 sides, you can measure the diameter of your blank, so you know it’s radius, you enter this as the shorter radius to the middle of one of the sides, hit done and it will tell you how long each side should be. You don’t need to use an app, there are plenty of free solvers on google.
