I kinda hope that they would at least let you have any purchased DLC from the OG for free unless they change how some of the DLCs work. Mainly I'm just referring to my Mitama DLCs.

Yeah they have a remake on the 3DS called Strange Journey: Redux. I think the only games with out a Remake that isn't the mainline games are I think the Raidou games? And DDS with DDS2.

The counterpoint is that if is just a DLC then it will be very hard to preserve for the future, and totally inaccessible the moment is pulled out of the eShop or the eShop itself eventually closes. Is a pain to have to pay again, but at least you can have the full game physically and it can be preserved easily.

There is ZERO justification for this rip-off practice, so don't defend it even under the pretext of gaming preservation. Especially considering later releases could have the DLC on-cart like other IPs do. Pokemon is just one example. Sword and Shield had the DLC expansion pass included in a physical cart. It's entirely doable.

I'm super disappointed with this release. I paid about 70 dollars to get a copy of SMTV at launch where I live. Now they basically ignore the entire previous player base that supported the game at launch and only offer 3 demons as a "reward" to buy again for the Switch? Pathetic. I don't believe that just because something is a common practice of a company that it should be normalized. This is anti-consumer behavior. The right thing to do would be to offer this new version at a lower price for those who already have the previous version, this is the minimum expected.

This I feel is the best route as it's a reimagining of the main campaign as opposed to what we got with Apocalypse which is a sequel made mainly to expand the lore of Megami Tensei (it's in the title, "Apocalypse" being the Greek word for the revelation of world changing information).

I played SMT V so much when it first came out and then I had to put it aside for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and never got back round to it. I'll have to blitz through the game before this comes out now.
loved everything about SMT V. really looking forward to this new content. I can look in the demon compendium and see what demons I have already registered, but where do I look to see what demons I have not registered? I have done everything there is to do in the original game, however, my compendium is still at just 23%.

It's an enhanced re-release. The plot starts the same as the original but diverges later on. The original version of the game is included as well. Once Vengeance releases, there will be no reason to purchase vanilla SMT V.

So, there’s one question that I don’t think was answered, will this just be a standalone title, or will there be an upgrade for those who have the game already
Standalone. That's how it works for Atlus JRPGs. -You got Persona 3, Persona 3 FES, Persona 3 Portable, and Persona 3 Reload. -You got Persona 4 and Persona 4 Golden. -You got Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal. -You got SMT3: Nocturne and SMT: Nocturne Maniax. -You now got SMT5 and SMT5: Vengeance. -And so on. Atlus generally prefers re-releasing the entire game again instead of giving you the option to buy the new stuff as add-ons while having Day 1 DLC for extra stuff like anti-grinding DLC, cosmetics, new Personas, music tracks, and so on. It works for them as they keep on doing it, and Sega's TOTALLY on board with it as they also encourage Day 1 DLC and Pre-Order DLC (like how Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, a non-Atlus JRPG, had New Game+ as paid DLC).

@@Monafuks The thing that I like the most in games like SMT IV is this that I can destroy enemies 10 levels higher than mine and be destroyed by enemies 10 levels below mine. SMT V applies level scaling to the player, scaling you down if you are underleveled, or up if you're overleveled so you need to be on specific level if you don't want to be too weak or too strong.

By the time the game releases we should know more about the Switch 2. I have a feeling we are seeing footage of this run on Switch 2. I’m guessing it will be 30 FPS on Switch, and 60 on Switch 2. I think this is the same reason we have not seen P3 Reload, since that might only work on Switch 2, not Switch 1.
i cant imagine nintendo is gonna drop a new console so soon after dropping 2 of the biggest blockbuster games of the decade on their home console thats already 7 years old. they have no incentive to do so when the install base is already so large and continuing to grow. theyd be making the same mistake as they did with the wii u, which they have spent years distancing themselves from after all the hurt it caused post-wii
There has not been a single hint I've seen anywhere from any official source of a Switch 2. There's nothing I've heard aside from "but wouldn't it be nice"? The Oled model is the closest I think we're going to get for a while. The Switch obviously won't last forever, but I've been hearing "Switch 2 news is dropping soon!" for years now to no result.
A Switch successor is definitely happening either this year or next. Most Nintendo consoles have released about 5 years apart. The Wii and Wii U had the second largest gap of 6 years, but the Switch wins with it going in 7 this March! And there are some hints from developers that the Switch successor is happening soon, although soon does not necessarily mean this year. As for performance for this game and hints of cross compatibility, there is not hint of that anywhere, that’s just wishful thinking on my end. I’m wishing there is backwards compatibility, and maybe even some improvements for prior Switch games.

SMT5 but actually good this time. As a nutjob for the SMT series I had a good time 100%ing the OG SMT5 but my god it was rough af and I can't blame atlus cus it had to cut alot of content and rush it out cus alot of japanese companies don't like delaying their schedules too much even during a pandemic n covid 19 just sucked around the whole world for everyone. But I really wish the OG SMT5 still got delayed more so we can get a more finished product like this. I'm really interested in returning to this game but on PC for better performance and some "Comedy" mods.
Thats not because of the Switch, its because of Atlus, SMT5 was an Switch exclusiv game back then so they had more than enough time to optimize the game for the Switch, it was also the teams first project useing Unreal 4 so they didn't really know how to use and optimize the Engine properly and also Atlus even made SMT3 a litural PS2 game locked on 30 Fps on PC and i don't see anyone give the PC the fault for the poor Performance, if a PS5 exclusiv game runs bad on a PS5 i don't blame the PS5 for the bad performance.
When I saw this reveal during the direct I lost my mind in excitement, all at work 😂. I've been waiting for the sequel since completing vanilla SMT V. I'll be grabbing it frame one, literally one of my favorite games of all time.

-You got Persona 3, Persona 3 FES, Persona 3 Portable, and Persona 3 Reload.
-You got Persona 4 and Persona 4 Golden.
-You got Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal.
-You got SMT3: Nocturne and SMT: Nocturne Maniax.
-You now got SMT5 and SMT5: Vengeance.
-And so on.
Atlus generally prefers re-releasing the entire game again instead of giving you the option to buy the new stuff as add-ons while having Day 1 DLC for extra stuff like anti-grinding DLC, cosmetics, new Personas, music tracks, and so on. It works for them as they keep on doing it, and Sega's TOTALLY on board with it as they also encourage Day 1 DLC and Pre-Order DLC (like how Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, a non-Atlus JRPG, had New Game+ as paid DLC).

@@Monafuks The thing that I like the most in games like SMT IV is this that I can destroy enemies 10 levels higher than mine and be destroyed by enemies 10 levels below mine. SMT V applies level scaling to the player, scaling you down if you are underleveled, or up if you're overleveled so you need to be on specific level if you don't want to be too weak or too strong.

By the time the game releases we should know more about the Switch 2. I have a feeling we are seeing footage of this run on Switch 2. I’m guessing it will be 30 FPS on Switch, and 60 on Switch 2.
I think this is the same reason we have not seen P3 Reload, since that might only work on Switch 2, not Switch 1.
i cant imagine nintendo is gonna drop a new console so soon after dropping 2 of the biggest blockbuster games of the decade on their home console thats already 7 years old. they have no incentive to do so when the install base is already so large and continuing to grow. theyd be making the same mistake as they did with the wii u, which they have spent years distancing themselves from after all the hurt it caused post-wii
There has not been a single hint I've seen anywhere from any official source of a Switch 2.
There's nothing I've heard aside from "but wouldn't it be nice"? The Oled model is the closest I think we're going to get for a while. The Switch obviously won't last forever, but I've been hearing "Switch 2 news is dropping soon!" for years now to no result.
A Switch successor is definitely happening either this year or next. Most Nintendo consoles have released about 5 years apart. The Wii and Wii U had the second largest gap of 6 years, but the Switch wins with it going in 7 this March!
And there are some hints from developers that the Switch successor is happening soon, although soon does not necessarily mean this year.
As for performance for this game and hints of cross compatibility, there is not hint of that anywhere, that’s just wishful thinking on my end. I’m wishing there is backwards compatibility, and maybe even some improvements for prior Switch games.

As a nutjob for the SMT series I had a good time 100%ing the OG SMT5 but my god it was rough af and I can't blame atlus cus it had to cut alot of content and rush it out cus alot of japanese companies don't like delaying their schedules too much even during a pandemic n covid 19 just sucked around the whole world for everyone.
But I really wish the OG SMT5 still got delayed more so we can get a more finished product like this. I'm really interested in returning to this game but on PC for better performance and some "Comedy" mods.

Nintendo, I love you, but with all do respect, I'm not buying this version of the game on Switch. Especially after how the original game ran on it.
Thats not because of the Switch, its because of Atlus, SMT5 was an Switch exclusiv game back then so they had more than enough time to optimize the game for the Switch, it was also the teams first project useing Unreal 4 so they didn't really know how to use and optimize the Engine properly and also Atlus even made SMT3 a litural PS2 game locked on 30 Fps on PC and i don't see anyone give the PC the fault for the poor Performance, if a PS5 exclusiv game runs bad on a PS5 i don't blame the PS5 for the bad performance.

When I saw this reveal during the direct I lost my mind in excitement, all at work 😂. I've been waiting for the sequel since completing vanilla SMT V. I'll be grabbing it frame one, literally one of my favorite games of all time.
