- Today we are playing with a Vw caddy maxi and it’s having upgrades, first we tackle the injector seals on the 1.9 TDI of engine.
Caddy life mirrors, side rail covers and a new hornet exhaust. We are fitting alloys and swamper wheels but let’s see how far we get.
Soon to be a micro camper 👌

Nice one ah ye! I had this issue with me old 2.5 AXE transporter and ended up getting the Darkside injector clamp done, proper pig of a job in that engine! If you squint it was mint until it all got put back together again ah ye!

My 1.6 Maxi does the same on a cold start but only when the outside temperature is above around 12 degrees.
Starts on the button in cold weather.
The extra o ring goes in the top where the smasher goes in 👌🏽

Thank you for this episode! I've had injector seals for my bls caddy on my home office desk for the last 8 weeks. Your video gave me the confidence to tackle the job and I did it this afternoon! Took 2 hours and the caddy is now smoke free! I had 2 injectors which i think we're leaking into the cylinders and it was making a smoke cloud on startup! When i took 2 out (I think 1 & 3) no fuel fell into the bore. Which I think would mean they weren't sealing, would that be correct? Love your videos and humour keep up the great work!

Oh those wing mirrors are nice
They are very nice, think they about £250 so not cheap but definitely make it look better.
Our BLS caddy has a starting issue, found the factory fuel filter housing non return was knackered fitted a used replacement was worse.. so used one off my Mk4 PD150 ARL & way better.!!
As Caddy previously cooked a starter motor over 12mths of it getting worse.. done injector seals & loom new starter no better.. also found MAF had no thermal link although no faults.. Fitted a Hand primer but it exploded on Motorways.!!! So removed it, but the MK4 filter made big improvement,... but.. found the ECU has an intermittent 5V Fault where it's there 1 sec 0.08v the next.. also same 5V controls the Cam/Crank sensor plus MAF.. Fitted a 5V Battery into wiring via a switch U switch it ON Caddy starts straight up.!! 20seconds later 5V comes back again so turn off switch.. so got a replacement Immo off ECU to fit next.. Fingers crossed.!!! Then I need a Touran Fog bumper front end..

Great work. I've never looked at an ECU, but is it worth looking for dry joints on that 5v line?
Judging by your fault finding so far I'm sure you can boss a soldering iron 😂

Great episode Nathan, My Polo has the LB9A Candy White colour, Want to find out if the 1.4 AMF P2 engine seals the same as the 1.9 P2 engines to change the seals?
Would it be possible to get some measurements of the clearance you have with the swamper style wheels, and some specs on the rims and tire sizes specifically ??
Really wondering how big of a diameter wheel you could fit, as I'm currently repainting a set of 17" supertourismo's for the maxi adventure van

Hey DTE, great video, been thinking of doing this on my Golf for a while and this was good motivation. Question for you, my 1.9 TDI Golf 5 is an easy cold-starter no matter the temp/weather, but takes noticeably longer to start when hot. Also likes to smoke (white) on a cold startup, not sure if its related to the hot-start issue but anyway... The smoke definitely smells of fuel but I have no clue what could be causing it. Its not using coolant or oil, its not down on power, oil doesnt smell like fuel or increase in level. Its honestly stumped me for years would really appreciate your [or anyones ;) ] input on the issue. Just wondering too if anyone knows of any PD injector refurbishing places in the UK?
