As we dive deeper and deeper into the national finals for Eurovision 2024, I thought it’s time to reupload this video, accidentally deleted by me last year along with 30 others. When the 2024 NF season ends, I’m gonna make the same video for 2024.
Yeah, the selection was strong and close, there had to be one winner anyway, and it happened to be Gustaph over fan favorites. Eurofans’ meltdown was interesting
To be fair, it wasn't the best song and most people agreed that it wasn't the best even outside the fandom, that's why it didn't do as well as it could have done at Eurovision. However, the staging for the fan favourite Cherine was done SO DIRTY, like they literally hijacked her song and made people want to not vote for it even though it was the clear best. Let me tell you though there were FOUR great songs there and not ONE of them were chosen! The only other song fans hated was the Loredana and Hunter Falls one! Poor Gala Dragot too! If I told you were NOT going to Eurovision over ONE point, would you not get mad?
@TheManInBlueFlames I mean people can dislike the song it's fair enough but the result he got in Liverpool was incredible haha. It might not have been the best song but it was a song with fun staging and a good bop! It got the result it deserved imo, 7th place for a fun song.
I'm going to watch some national selections for the first time (Norway, Sweden, Spain and Italy). Been watching Eurovision since 2006 and for some reason I never watched any nationals. I got this on my recommended. I was curious to all of the reactions anyway, but it was also great to see how the results for the nationals that I want to watch are gonna look like! I especially love the reactions of Gustaph, Alika, Alessandra, Paloma, Käärijä, Marco Mengoni and Luke Black! They're so cute. ^^ Also!!! My jaw DROPPED when I saw Chanel in her outfit! She's so gorgeous, it's unreal. Not 100% relevant to the video, but I went to "Het Grote Songfestivalfeest" in Amsterdam in November last year for the first time, and it was absolutely amazing! From the 2023 contestants Käärijä, Gustaph, Alika and Alessandra were in the line-up. They were all so so good. Gustaph and Alessandra hit their high notes perfectly and Alika's long note at the end gave me goosebumps! Käärijä was the second to last to perform (Conchita Wurst was the closing act) and the WHOLE crowd went insane, it was truly 'it's crazy, it's party'! I loved every single performance but those four were definitely some of my favorites of that evening.
@@saarapollonen8138 I'm gonna find out because I decided to also watch UMK a couple days ago when I listened to all of the entries and I like all of the songs. ^^ After last night's semi 2 of Norway I am not as excited for the final as I used to be. Veeeeery odd choices were made.
21:52 That had to have been the most satisfactory "Oo0o0o0o00ooOhhh" I've ever heard. Like the weight was off his shoulders and he would live his dream. Ofc T*R had to snatch that away from him >:((( #JusticeForTheodorAndrei
Well, that landslide is a usual thing for UMK since 2021 when they introduced the system with 75% televoting. In all those years (2021, 2022 and 2023) there was a clear favorite who got many televoting points, with 75% it became even bigger
Omg i just want to remind everyone what a shitshow the danish voting actually was: - Of course, the app broke... - The system made absolutely no sense. No one knew what was happening (not even the hosts). - Something went wrong, so the lady giving out regional votes, was actually on screen for way too long, where they did the most AKWARD interview ever with her. - It all broke... again.. where they just stood and interviewed all the contestants for too long while they were super nervous. It's so sad that Danmarks Radio doesnt take DMGP seriously anymore 😭
Yikes, not only that, they picked a generic and boring song that would be better suited for Eurovision, sung by a guy who can't even sing. I mean, I grt that Denmark doesn't wanna host, but they could at least choose songs that could make it to the final.
I'm glad Germany had the balls to choose for something other than your standard pop songs and ballads, but it was to no use in the end :( (Eurovision needs to appreciate rock and metal more, I swear). I have become a big Lord Of The Lost fan after Eurovision and I'm still thankful for them participating. And let's not forget about Gustaph, because he was phenominal and he proved every hater in Belgium wrong (people said he wouldn't even qualify for the finals and such things)
Yeah, but Belgium was catchy, and I always thought it would do well, especially when performed in an arena. I really didn't get the hatred or why people rated it so low. Wnd yes, Germany, while I never thought, they would end up as high as Germans thought they would rank, but I never would have imagined in a million years that they would finish last, or even in the Bottom 5. But congrats to them for sending something else than generic pop that isn't dynamic or engaging and is just boring.
@@escserg6731 Recently, I became a big fan of Eurovision and I don't understand why such economically powerful countries too does an internal selection !
@@imfriedchicken It's not always about the money. For some countries internal selections just work better in terms of choosing a song that can make fans excited and/or bring a good results. UK is definitely one of them. With Israel it might be different.

Yeah, 4 national finals are more than enough, why not. Not every nf is very interesting, it depends on one’s preferences
Finland's UMK is better than any of those and that's a promise 😂

Yeah. No one understood what was happening back then, even the hosts. Even I understood at least something only while making this video
Took me a moment to realize even though Jerry Heil is here, that it’s 2023 not 24
