Husk dislikes being a cat because of Alastor’s treatment of him in Hazbin Hotel

- Did you notice this in Hazbin Hotel?
In previous shorts i’ve covered how some characters make unique sounds. Like alastor makes radio and deer sounds, val squeaks and vox makes radiowaves.
One character i haven’t touched on yet is husk. He makes various cat noises throughout the series, and purrs when talking to angel dust.
What’s interesting about husk he actually dislikes the fact he’s a cat. This has been mentioned in livestreams numerous times and we can see it clear as day in the series.
When angel meows at husk and mentions his claws, husk gets noticeably upset and this is interesting considering he’s usually pretty laid back.
It’s likely that the real reason husk hates his cat attributes is because of his treatment from alastor. In episode 5 alastor talks down to husk and scratches him on the ear, with husk responding that he’s not a pet. Husk gets angry, and alastor chains him to the ground like a dog on a leash.
In future episodes we’ll likely see husk come to terms with his identity and become more comfortable in his own skin. Angel is Val’s toy while Husk is Alastor’s pet. Perhaps the pair will overcome their hardships together.

I’ve never thought of the contrast between Angel Dust being Valentino’s toy and Husk being Alastor’s pet

Yeah, once you spot them it's easier to notice in other episodes. He makes a little almost growly sounds right before going to find Angel in episode 4 and in episode 3 he is purring while getting a massage, there are other moments, but those are ones I think of.

My papa loves cats, he's a Vietnam Veteran (and a memeber of the Iron Workers Union, and part of a motorcycle club), and is super grumpy but actually really nice and sweet

I love Alastor's chaotic nature and how it can be viewed so differently
I get the feeling that Husk's hatred of his demon form comes from before Alastor, and it's just something Alastor exploits.
It would make sense that he hates his cat form. No one wants to be seen like that. I think he should realize that his cat form reflects his caring nature since cats can be cuddly with those they close to.
it's definitely reflective of his tendency to be aloof and pissy at first but also fiercely loyal to those he's close with.

I can say that Husk’s Cat behavior seems to be interesting that I can’t wait to see more in Season 2. And possibly give us maybe a “Bat” sounds since the season 1 final, he been flying. So he might be bat demon if I had to guess on why he isn’t a cat.

I think the cat thing is actually all about him falling to death along with being a magician in life. Cats "always land on their feet" and cats are commonly associated with witches. That combined with the wings he also has... alcohol enduced tumble.

Husk purring around angels could relate to like how real life cats will purr around people they love. Huskerdusk was confirmed to be a slowburn so maybe the purring is just another thing to show husk actually cares. If he makes various cat noises he most likely will make them at the approiate time IE: hissing (angry) eeping or eeking, (fighting or watching something) etc. So if thats the case and hes purring around angel it means he probably actually does rlly like him.
I wish in the future episode husk is comfortable with he's skin... though...
