The attention to detail is terrifyingly awesome
Hi leokimvideo
My god, the amount of attention to detail that went in to finding the most “hidden” locations I’ve never seen in any other videos, is mind blowing. It was the coolest thing to see the inside of the actual soundstage where the chocolate factory set was.
Coolest thing to know Stage 9 was where the chocolate room was hey? So fascinating to see the locations too.
😢What a shame that the river and the ground no longer exist @@fraserkatie
Wow! Nobody on RUclips has found so many of the filming locations 😮 Awesome vid ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
OMG!!! This is one of the best videos online I've ever seen. You've brought my childhood alive again. Moreover, you've captured in great detail and accuracy all the locations. Your choice of music puts a smile on an ageing geezer's face! I truly lift my hat off to you. Take a bow. I hope you do more of these. I'm going to share this with the world. More of these, please!!
well said
👍
I'd give anything to go sit on those steps and sing Cheer Up Charlie. But I don't know if I could get through it without crying. One of the most beautiful moments in a beautiful film.
Yes. Well, at least now you know where to go if you want a good cry.
Ridiculous! Unbelievably good. 52 years later and lots of still stuff looks very similar. Thanks for the video!
I never realized that the film was actually filmed in Germany. Very well done on the research and all for this video.
the orange roofs were a dead giveaway for Germany or Netherlands.
Since the day I saw it in the base theater, not long after it came out, "Willy Wonka and the Absolutely Staggering List of Blatant FDA and OSHA Violations" remains among my all-time favorite movies.
It's nice to see the love for this movie still around. I have it on Blu-ray
Me too! I watch this movie once a year or so, have been doing so since I rediscovered it back in the 90's. I remember my sister taking me to the cinema to see it & I so desperately wanted to live in a chocolate factory! (I'm sure millions of kids all over the world did too).
Wow, 52 years ago... Where did the time go?
I just have it on DVD
I have it on VHS 1👍
I have it on blu=ray. Love it.
Beautifully made, supremely well composed, excellent choices in music, and some very thoughtful and cool additions too such as the final shot. Bravo!!
Brilliantly accomplished! All I ask now is a tall ship and a star to sail her by!
This is the best then and now video I have ever seen. Perfectly lines up all scenes. Congratulations on a job well done!!!
as a kid, the candy shop scene always bugged me because he just hands everything out without ever collecting any money. loved the side-by-side presentation. well done. you know if it had been filmed in the US, everything would have been demolished by now.
In a world of pure imagination. This is truly amazing. Thanks. It's perfection. Who else paused this several times to clearly see the differences?
Great upload very interesting to say the least. Now I’m gonna have to watch that film again tomorrow even if it’s just to hear the original intro music😁👍🏻
Have you made a metal Wonka bar yet? I'd say nordic gold in honor of the golden ticket ;)
This was one of, if not THE first movie I ever saw in a theater. I was five!
This was awesome!
Thanks for sharing it.
in the ending, same cloud from 1971 was amazing :) briliant job
People still like this movie, no matter how many times we watch it, it will always be remembered.
What an iconic movie! Hard to believe it was 52 years ago! Amazing, that some of the locations are still there today. I didn't realise that it was filmed in Germany/Bavaria, I've always found it curious that film makers shoot a movie based in one country, but filmed entirely in another. Even multiple countries in some cases.
Thank you for the hard work, doing all the amazing research and returning to all these incredible locations. The attention to detail is remarkable, really enjoyed this trip down memory lane! 😊
Deez places, they are so roh-mahn-tic okayyy!
It gave the film a great otherworldly quality.
BRAVO!! This is the premiere "before and after" Willy Wonka location video ever done. It is entertaining in its own right. Somebody who never even saw the film would like this video. It has so much energy and I had fun watching it. Vielen Danke.
This video is award-worthy! Online videos many times are tedious and lead to nowhere. Your style is great with the split screen. Taking the movie from the beginning to the end is perfect. I live in Southern California where I know many locations of many movies that were filmed throughout the years but being able to film locations from the Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory movie has to be precious.
Wow, that is an impression amount of detail, including soundstages and drone footage! I always wondered where in Europe it was filmed.
From what I know, it was filmed in Germany so that American audiences would see it as "any town". If the movie were filmed in the USA, audiences would easily recognize the setting as "not my city".
A true masterpiece and accompaniment to the movie and where the scenes were filmed. Wasn't Gene Wilder just the best Willy Wonka ever ???
Interesting fact: Granpa Joe was a German Soldier in WW1. Fine actor and I love this video and how it was presented. Awesome. Thank you so much for the time and effort producing this video.
This is our childhoods! Great to see how it changed over the years but still remains a classic! Ty for doing this ❤❤
What an absolutely amazing video! Not to mention it was like I was watching the movie all over again with all the tears that go along with it! And now I can live happily ever after just like Charlie Bucket. :)
Let’s all take a moment to take a virtual Minute of Silence for Mr. Gene Wilder, Mr. Willy Wonka.
You had opened the gates and welcomed us into a world of pure imagination(See what I did there).
To me and many others I’m sure, you will always be Willy Wonka in our hearts.
To Mr. Wilder.
To Mr. Wonka
🥂
Bravo to the photographer(s) and editor(s)!!! The shot matching, framing and editing is amazing!!! Thank you for this experience ❤
So good to see most of the locations still look nice if not much nicer these days.
This has to be the best before and after filming locations ever. Ive seen some good videos before but this is a different level. I wish i could give it 10 thumbs up. Simply amazing work
WOW!!! My mind is blown. I’ve never really realised where this film was filmed but it’s more in my heart because it’s filmed in Germany. I’m a huge fan of Germany and I hope to visit the country one day. Thank you for putting so much effort into this video. Just amazing!!
loved this. Wish I had this when I visited Munich a few years ago. I did go to the factory and clock, but would have def done more if I knew where to go!
Well if you were to only visit one place, the factory was the place to go.
It's incredible how much those clouds in the last shot have changed in 52 years.
This is incredibly well done. Thank you for making this! Memories so thick they lift me off the ground, I bump into the ceiling which now has to be washed, and sterilized...
YOU rocked it and made an old man and family happy.. What memories. Thank You.
The amount of work that would have gone into this is incredible. Well done.
-this was my favorite show when i was little .the amount of detail is remarkable hats off to you sir!!!!
Outstanding! My favourite childhood movie. Thank you very much for this.
I've lived in and around Munich for 25 years and know so many of these locations well. What a great video!
Greetings from coastal Mississippi. Watched this in 1971. My favourite version. Thank you for the research 🎉
Great job, definitely got my thumbs up. After all this time there is someone out there with love of this movie and found a lot of the locations for us all to see again and know they still exist, it sure dose bring back the memories of the past and im sure if Gean Wilder was still around he too would be over welmed with joy to see the spots are still there and people today still love this movie.
The way you’ve lined up all your current day shots with originals is amazing!!! Best video I’ve seen of locations! 🎉
I had the extreme pleasure of seeing this in a theater in Ponce Puerto Rico for free. Well, almost free. In the early 70’s, the M&M /Mars Co. had a promotion in Puerto Rico. On a few select Saturdays, you could go watch a kids movie without paying any money. The price of admission was a couple of Mars product candy wrappers. So, I saw this movie for the price of 2 M&M wrappers. This was back in 1971 when this movie came out. I was 9 years old. I’m almost 61 now. I don’t think there was 1 adult in the theater that afternoon.
We were all dropped off at the theater with our wrappers. I still remember that when the opening credits were rolling, you know, when they’re showing all the candy and chocolate, the entire audience was yelling “MMMMMMMMM,” as loud as we could. To this day, I can still hear the sound of over 200 kids cheering when Charlie peeled back the wrapping to reveal the Golden Ticket! Then the entire theater got super quiet when Slugworth materialized out of nowhere to whisper in Charlie’s ear.
I saw this movie dubbed in Spanish back then. Now imagine my surprise when I moved to Los Angeles in 1975. I sat down to watch t.v. with my mom and sister and there was Grandpa Joe on tv! It was Jack Albertson on a show called Chico and the Man! It was the first time that I heard Grandpa Joe’s real English speaking voice. 😂
I certainly appreciate the effort that went into locating, filming and syncing these locations. Superb job! 👍
I love this movie, you must've done exhaustive research to find them but we appreciate it.
Magical
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. I can't imagine how much work you put into this but it must be a lot!!
This is the one! The golden ticket of location then and now videos!
I hope this video gets the millions of views it deserves.
Could watch these side by side filming locations all day ! Great work
The magic of this movie is so very touching and special to so many of us and this presentation captures precious moments just beautifully. Many-a happy tear will be shed. Bravo.
OK, that last shot is hilarious! 😆 I was 6 years old and this was the first movie I'd ever seen at a theater.
Will always be one of my favourite movies. Thank you for showing us this.
Absolute Masterpiece!!! My good sir, you should win an award for this. Excellent!!!
Thank you, this brought tears to my eyes watching some of these clips. Brought so many memories back from my childhood. Keep up the good work.
Love there is 0 audio except for music and the movie clips. Thanks for not ruining it with needless commentary.
The best "then and now" montage I've ever seen, bar none.
This is how they all should be done! Great work!!
I loved this more than you will ever know! My favorite book and movie! Thank you!
Amazing. I grew up with this movie and this was a joy to watch.
Wow! Perfect painstaking work to match these shots up so beautifully. Thank you so much for this!
I love the attention to detail like a blank studio (sound stage) floor and an empty sky...h
This was a great video. Like the annual Wizard of OZ, this was also an annual event when I was a little boy. Gene will always be remembered..... He is on my list of greats (within my life)
What an amazing amount of research has gone into this! Fantastic job!
Wow excellent. Unlike what we see elsewhere at times, it seems most from 1971 today actually looks far better.
Amazing video. I loved this movie as a boy and all the wonderful memories came rushing back. Amazing to see how so little has changed. Actually, seems like there is more green space than what was in 1971.
The BEST film location video ever. Amazing how much of things look pretty much the same 🥰🍭
Fantastic, well done, I didn’t even know it was filmed there!
The effort here is absolutely unbelievable. THANK YOU. This was hauntingly beautiful.
That was absolutely FANTASTIC!!! Great job piecing it all together. Thanks!!!
I really, deeply, appreciate your comitment to matching the framing so accurately.
What a labor of love this all must've been, phenomenal!
Wow you showed so many locations and in sequential chronological order amazing it's cool to see that so many of them it's still survived in her relatively unchanged thank you for this look back through time into the present
This video ought to be named 'The Fantastic Location-Comparison Video', so much effort you clearly put into it.
8:18 I love how you found the exact same piece of blue sky that they used in the film!
Lol
This is my favourite film of all time! Never knew so much filmed in Germany
This is the coolest video ever uploaded to RUclips. Absolutely 100% Awesome! Thank you for your work!
I am so lucky this channel was recommended to me whoever is doing these videos and editing deserves a lot more subscribers. This is truly some of the most impressive and then and now work on films I have seen on RUclips truly deserves to be recognized for the great work.
Very well done, as a Wonka fan, I enjoyed your work.
The only children’s movie I’ve ever loved. Thank you for this.
Awesome and well done! What a great uplifting sound track of hope for the emotional roller coaster of memories. I loved it.
Beautiful. Always suspected it to be Germany as a kid, finally found out, and I love the last scene!
Great work matching those shots. The movie is a true classic.
This has to be one of the greatest videos ever made on RUclips. The amount of time this must have taken is astonishing. So entertaining and most importantly-- accurate!!
That was great, thanks for posting. Surprising how little the outdoor settings have changed.
Still the best movie ever & thank you for the fantastic job you had done on this video.
LOVE IT! Thank you so much for posting this!
Thank you, this was magical. Bravo to the creators 👏👏👏
This was a fantastic piece of work. I am very impressed at how many more green spaces there are in the "now" vs the "then". I imagine this may be related to the amount of WWII rebuilding which hadn't emphasized green spaces which is evident in the movie footage. That is just my hypothesis.
This is INSANE. SO much work. Absolutely superb thank you!
It has changed and yet hasn't. Wonderful thankyou the movie and the book has come to life again. If anybody has not read the book please do so it just as good as the movie
So incredibly well done! Phantastic! What a great video! Thank you so much!
My favorite movie as a kid, I still remember watching it in elementary school
Magical thank you. My heart fills with warmth at the thought of this movie and a time now long gone.
The best filming location video ever created.
This. Is. AMAZING! It is so trippy seeing the interior of the *exact* Bavaria Studios soundstage of the Chocolate Room. I know it was filmed over 50 years ago but I can’t believe it’s just an empty soundstage. When it used to house a chocolate river and all sorts of candy 🤣 I love how some stuff is still vaguely the same in all the exteriors. A lot of it is totally different now (like the outside of Wonka’s factory.) I also never knew the outside of the Bucket residence was a specially built facade. I wonder which soundstage they used for the inside, and of the rooms leading up to the Chocolate room?
Probably the same soundstage where movies like The Neverending Story were filmed.
Exactly how a filming location video of then and now comparison should be done! Thank you. BRILLIANT work putting this together.
Omg this is my all time favourite childhood film thanks for putting this amazing video on x
You went to a great deal of trouble to make this. Thank you. It was first class. ❤
What a fantastic piece of work!! Without doubt, this is the best 'then and now movie location' video I've ever had the pleasure of watching. Hopefully it gets the credit that it deserves by way of millions of views and thumbs ups... Just one point though (as I have mild OCD), if only you'd waited another 48 minutes at 5:16 for the clock to match the time in the movie 😉
I’ve been to Munich, it now makes perfect sense when I see this that the film was shot there. I saw the film recently and noticed the cars had the German number plates. Mr Jopek also couldn’t speak a word of English. Absolutely brilliant piece of content
So well done! I enjoyed watching this! Thank you for all your time and effort invested in this little nugget of good memories!
