Fantastic! This is why this is so mush fun, desire, try, learn, succeed, fail (oh well) try again, smile. It's nice to know there is a community that has the same interests & concerns. Thank You!
It looks like the lovely piece Kacha did with the blues and gold...you'll get there Debi just keep at it ....imho I think the backwards, forwards, up and down strokes of the brushing is by far the best way to achieve a good blend..it's the way I always got my results back in the day :)
Your piece came out beautiful, Debi, but I understand what it's like to have a vision and somehow be unable to achieve it. Keep trying and you'll get there, probably when you least expect it. I believe in you! ~ Lisa
its hard not to be critical of ourselves sometimes. We have a vision and it doesn't always come out as we intended it to. However, as artist we learn from it and it likely comes out beautiful in its own right. You inspire me Debie
I am new to painting and I struggle with blending also. Dionne makes everything look so easy! lol I think the tips in this video will really help me too. Maybe one day you and I will both figure it out.
I think everything you do is so great, but I really respect and appreciate that you show us through the process that you are human, and might need help. Also that you utilise others' help in your video, and give credit to them. We are always stronger together, and all have so much to share! Thank you!
I envision a mermaid finding this ocean kissed beauty at her favorite swap meet. Lugging it home and showing her merman this exquisite find! I think you have achieved your goal. You go tiny dancer!
I just love you. One thing that would help your blending skills is to hold your brush back a little closer to the handle letting your brush do the work. You are holding on to the bristles not allowing them to feather out. Try it.
That piece is beautiful....And stop worrying about brush strokes...adds depth. I love brush strokes, shows all the love put in the piece, takes away the manufacture smooth look.
Debi, you are doing great on blending! I am critical of myself too. It can be a good trait but also can hold us back. I had not considered doing blending until you...I have been watching your vids, chuckling and learning. Maybe this year I will dip into a blended piece. Thanks for your great paint and your encouraging style.
Great video! It makes me want to try blending in some different ways with your paint to try something. I also now understand what you meant about the golden ticket and yes I need some of that in my life! ❤️
Maybe try wet distressing instead of using the brush to blend? I use a combination, I love what using a damp rag does to the paint. 🤷🏼♀️😘 Or a thinner bristled flat brush. I often get good results with the cheap dollar store brushes, about 3” width. I also think you might be stuck in your head a bit. You are fearless, just be you.
I haven’t tried blending but I would like to try one day . Your side table looks beautiful and I’m sure you are going to master it one day thanks for sharing ❤️🌹
Debi, this reminds me of a conversation I had with a woman many years ago ... she was telling me that she really struggled with housework but felt it was her ministry because other women felt better about themselves when they visited her messy house 😂 She said it with humour, but she truly meant it. I love that you share your flaws. It encourages me to create without fear. There’s beauty in vulnerability. You’re a blessing to others 💜
Debbie, I am just like you, I’m my own worst critic!! I know EXACTLY how you feel. But here is what I see, when watching your videos (I love them)! So, you start out painting, and I’m being HONEST HERE, I think, this is a hot mess!! But then you just keep working, and you do some of the coolest things ever, and by the end of the video, and your fabulous stories, your project is BEAUTIFUL!!! Every time!! Your projects, the dresser with all the molds is FABULOUS!!! It’s one if the most beautiful pieces I’ve seen!! The project you did, to mimic a blouse that you loved, it had some red in it I believe, and the texture that you gave it, was to die for!! The Mermaid table, again, fantastic!!! I LOVE your projects, because you are being you!!! I feel like you want your blending to look just like Dione, but when you are working on a piece, and do YOU, it is AMAZING!!! It’s like me trying to use the putty knife...it doesn’t work out for me. But it does for her. My point is, when you do Debbie, it turns out fantastic, in my opinion. And, I think your blending, is awesome. Anyway, that’s how I see you. I think your style is great! But I understand, being so hard in yourself, I’m the exact same way. FYI, I and lots of other people, look forward to all of your videos. ♥️
Great job. i really liked the look the white wax left on the dresser. Debi Phrimmer's tips are great. i have to say that i LOvE that when an artist puts their own hand to a piece, their personality shines through. Each artist uses the same techniques, but each finished piece is full of their own personality and beauty, and it tells their own story. You did a great job.
Looks great!!! And I see how if you wanted the front to look like the top and sides, you might give yourself a "b-" lol for the front. But I'm just wondering if it's because the front isn't flat and you may not get the same look or effect regardless idk??? But love that you share your journey and where you are still learning too. Thanks for the tips and great one more person I'll need to follow. The way I'm going I'll be watching videos on how to do stuff and never get to actually paint lol
I think it turned out beautifully. And so helpful to really observe and break it down for others. I am thinking of a drawing/painting technique called chiaroscuro. I remember having to draw and shade a bowl of eggs with pencil in a drawing class and how subtle it was to very gradually shade from light to dark. I think one key that might also help is really controlling the amount of paint as it approaches the edge you want to blend. If you start out thicker and gradually whisper or feather the paint then it’s easier to blend the new color. You could try feathering it out so softly you see nothing but the base color beneath. Not sure if that makes sense. I’m a fine artist really itching to paint furniture. If this translates onto furniture I will try to make a video. Thanks for all you do. I’ve learned so much from you!
My trick. I paint with the dish sponges you get at dollar tree I believe they come six in a pack. I watered down my paint and I put it on with us the sponge. I let it dry at least an hour between coats. But I make my own paint using calcium carbonate. So I don’t know if this trick would work with your paint.... But I think it looks fantastic
I love your videos Debi! While your work is beautiful and this piece came out really pretty, I do understand you're wanting to master a technique to your satisfaction. 💙💙💙
You did a beautiful job. 💜 your color story. I understand scrutinizing your work and I'm glad you gave it a B- because that's a better grade than you would have given to previous pieces. Maybe try again right away while you have this process in the forefront of your mind? I know you can do it! What is the saying? If at first you don't succeed try, try again. 😊
I think you did a great job...love the colors and I am very anxious to try this technique on a dresser I have and don't know what to do with....so wish me luck!! Thanks for the tutorial and I have to say, you have the best music playing on all your videos!!
"More risque???" Girl, have you forgotten that you painted a velvet sofa???!!! You're great, you're just stuck in your head. It's just paint, it's just furniture, and no one's gonna die. Here's my pep talk to you: You is wonderful, you is special, you is talented, and you is an inspiration to us all. Just be you, just be free, and the rest will flow. But first you gotta get out of your head. LOVE YOU GIRL!
I bought my first 8 cans of DIY paint at a local shop and ordered some from Jami Ray. I pained one piece and love it!!!! I’ll be posting a RUclips video soon, hope you can watch it one day! Xoxoxox💕💕💕
As a first time paint blender-I look forward to trying this technique on bookcases for my art studio. Just yesterday bought Sea Glass and Mermaids Tail. Now I’m thinking I need Blue Iris and Golden Ticket.
I think it came out really pretty! I don’t paint much furniture but I do paint a lot with acrylics and watercolor. If it takes you longer to paint then I highly suggest working in smaller areas- like maybe a drawer area at a time so you give yourself more working time for blending while the paint is wet. I think it’s always harder to blend re-wet areas than working with the actual wet paint.

Frustratedly fun! I really get it and "no" your not being to hard on yourself. Nothing wrong with having a higher expectation for ourselves👍 I'm going to Spokane, WA. to meet her, can't wait it's just a hour away. I hope you do a class there I would so love to meet you👍👍👍
WOW!! I think it turned out fantastic!! I love it!! I can't blend either but you will figure it out and the more you practice the more comfortable you will get! Great job and I love the color and the texture!!
It is soooo good hearing the struggles of others with this. I freeze up before I get started when I don't feel I know enough about how to do something. I have a couple pieces in my home that will be moving with me and I want to do this painting method on them. I am picky about color, probably too picky, but I am the one that has to live with it right? I subscribed to Debbie;s channel...maybe I will actually be able to do a beautiful piece or two or seven...I might go nuts if I get this down. Thanks again. Love your videos.
Thank you both for sharing this video for blending furniture! I want to do this technique on two pieces of furniture. So afraid but I’m going to do it, and this helps a lot!
Debi, great tutorial. You put your heart and soul into your artwork. If I may ask a question, please. What are the "aftercare" instructions, i.e. what do you recommend to keep them clean without altering the finish? I presume just a clean slightly damp cloth, but you are the expert! Thanks for sharing your beautiful artwork. Blessings to everyone
Wonderful video as always Debi! I have had my eye on Debi at Elsie Lane Boutique for some time now...such magnificent work! Will subscribe and tell her you sent me...funny thing is I thought I was subscribed but wasn't. Your piece turned out beautiful! All of your work is so unique, you're the best Debi!!!
I agree, it's easier to blend on a large flat surface where you can make long soft strokes! I think it looks great- The choice to expose some of the original gold trim really works!
I think you struggle with blending because it's relatively new to you. In most of your older videos your techniques are mostly painting, chipping, dripping and waxing. So you are learning this along with the rest of us. I really think your piece came out way more beautiful than you think. We're all our own worst critics. Love your channel.
I've had pieces that I completely painted over because they didn't come out 'right' the first time. I've watched tons of videos and there are many techniques I want to try. I can do a pretty good dry brushing technique, but my 'dry brush' isn't the same as someone else's. I'm pretty sure my blending won't be, either. I'd like to see your piece after Dionne finished it, just to get an idea of what the 'ideal' blended look is for you.
I feel your frustration.... I do think your piece looks better than you think it does. You also have your own style, and although you might envy theirs and try to imitate their methods, developing your vision is more important. If you really wanted to implement how they blended you chose a different brush and didn't seem to go up and down as often, you mainly kept moving your brush across. Was there also still too much paint on your brush? All in all, your little dresser looks lovely and will sell. There is nothing wrong with it.
I'm not a big fan of the blending... My absolute favorite of yours is the mermaid drawer pulls you made, the seahorse on the dresser and the gorgeous anthropology dupe you created ... w/white flowers you did with the molds, the painted velvet couch.. so many to name. I admire your determination Debi.. Everything you have done has come out gorgeous... As with this blending...turned out nice.
I’m new to blended finishes and I have watched you, JRV, Dionne and Kacha blend....and want to to do so bad! Your piece turned out Gorgeous🌟 I will check out Debbie Fs channel....thank you so much for sharing....you are AWESOME😊🌟k
I’ve recently got into upcycling and thank you for your video it’s incredibly helpful, I’m a little concerned, and this may be a silly question, but why does nobody sand before doing these paint jobs? Have I ruined my furniture ?
Debi, don't worry about trying to blend like other artists. You have your own unique style, that is beautiful. Just be you.
Fantastic! This is why this is so mush fun, desire, try, learn, succeed, fail (oh well) try again, smile. It's nice to know there is a community that has the same interests & concerns. Thank You!
I am watching all the videos I can on blending paint, LOVE the way this turned out, love Debbie Pfrimmer's page too
Okay, now I want to go paint a piece with ALL the colors. I loved your piece.
I think it looks great. I use dusty brushes to blend...a tip I learned...use a completely dry brush and blend it until you like it. 😊😊😊😊
Maxwell Studio 19 Love the Dusty brushes!!
Yay! A Debi video! Always a treat! And your piece looks fabulous! You do you! ❤️
It looks like the lovely piece Kacha did with the blues and gold...you'll get there Debi just keep at it ....imho I think the backwards, forwards, up and down strokes of the brushing is by far the best way to achieve a good blend..it's the way I always got my results back in the day :)
Thank you for your honesty in teaching. Love your projects & end results. I always look forward to watching your videos!
Love this piece, admire your tenacity! You are such a brave person, because you will try anything!
Love your videos!! I love how transparent you are!! It’s a beautiful piece!!! Yay you!!! 🥰
Your piece came out beautiful, Debi, but I understand what it's like to have a vision and somehow be unable to achieve it. Keep trying and you'll get there, probably when you least expect it. I believe in you! ~ Lisa
Thank you so much for your blending techniques. As you learn, so do we! Your playlist is AWESOME!

Great video Debi! I STRUGGLE with blending. I can layer and dry brush and distressed, but the blending....EEEEKKK!!!! Thanks for sharing!
I am new to painting and I struggle with blending also. Dionne makes everything look so easy! lol I think the tips in this video will really help me too. Maybe one day you and I will both figure it out.
I LOVE your videos and all the pieces that you make. You will get it! Thank you for all your hard work.

Love your piece and all your honesty even more. Thanks for being so real. Great video!
Wow! Beautiful! TFS
I am loving that piece Debi! Gorgeous! Love the gold addition. You're better at it every time you do it.
That piece is beautiful....And stop worrying about brush strokes...adds depth. I love brush strokes, shows all the love put in the piece, takes away the manufacture smooth look.
You have the BEST videos. Always worth the wait!
Try blending paints on a canvas as practice. It's easier and you will learn more quickly.
Good job Debi! Blending is a struggle for me too. I love your shirt and how it goes with your piece! 🦋💙🦚
I think your pieces turned out gorgeous! You are such an inspiration Debi and I absolutely love everything you create. 💕💕
Really pretty Debi! Love your teachable attitude and your honesty

Angela Ramsey Robinson I did that in art class too! We just did one egg though!
Elsie Lane Boutique It’s been a long time, but I still remember. That was not an easy exercise!

Instead of wax you can seal with polycrylic as it is more durable.
@@soccermom1245 Thank you :)

Debi, you did a beautiful job on that cabinet!!!
It’s an art. You have to find your style. Yes techniques can be learned but you have to create the art and this will come with time.
Love the colors you used.
Yup. Keep at it. I have no doubt you'll get there. 😉
I really liked the colors and I feel inspired to do it too!
Doing great! I love your tenacity. 😂
LOVE love love!! Awesome work both of you 😘😘🎨
It turned out gorgeous!!!
OMG, I wish I can be as great as you. Even though you say it's B- and A- in my eyes it's A++.
Wonderful job as always.
