Curious about the rear of the jewel case. Atlas made DCC equipped GP-38’s in the Alaska scheme as well. And with multiple road numbers. I scored one on eBay about a year ago, not quite as good a deal as you, but right around my $100/loco goal. Great little unit. But it does have a bit of the Atlas squeal. Great score and nice vid!
The Alaska units were probably from a different run or release if I had to guess. I don't know about GP38 specifics but I know that Atlas has re-released GP7/9's for YEARS in a bunch of different Roads and cab numbers. Wouldn't be surprised if they'd been doing the same for GP38's.
Hello Shane...I have a 1969 (second design on Spookshow) Bachmann GP40 (white metal upper chassis, black metal lower chassis) all metal gears...it has recently developed a contact issue but I cannot figure out how to remove the trucks for fear of breaking something. As far as I can tell they simple don't pull off. Do you have experience with this model?
I have a video where I work on a Bachmann U36b of the same design. Watch that video before you tear yours down. That design is a serious pain to reassemble compared to the newer split chassis stuff.
Just watched you vid. My attempt last night was pretty much identical to yours 😂. I'm certain mine has a contact issue going to the trucks because it runs fine through curves but as soon as it transitions to straights things get jerky. I guess the world may never know about this one. I cannot find any teardowns.
I do have a complete Rokuhan Z-scale setup and a locomotive and coaches. Honestly I haven't even put it together and ran it. I have found that the further you get from H.O. scale. in either direction, the value gets worse and worse. And Z scale is a pretty horrible value in my opinion. At least currently.
Thumbs up! Have a great new week! 🚂🚂
You too B&O!
I just got a MKT GP38-2 DC for $50 . It is in great shape and runs well . Enjoy your video's Shane . Keep them coming .
Thanks Steve. I love MKT!
Great deal, nice Loco!
Thanks Ron!
