Doesn't it appear strange that with all the advancements in technology you can't just plug in your iPhone to the computer and transfer a word document file.

I found another way, by copying my files and sending them via email back to myself.
Fantastic. Recently purchased my first iPhone (always has Androids) and have been watching other videos to learn how to use. But all the videos on this process had me using iTunes (I didn't want to pay monthly fee), using VCL, etc. This is the easiest and BEST way to transfer my files from window PC to iPhone. Thank you so much from an old man. (I'm 75 years old and still learning).
Get a mac and you have an easier time and plus macs have longivety and great efficiency and performance.

Does Apple seriously not have a way to do this directly and offline without having everything go through a server in who knows where? I recently got an iPhone and this stuff is baffling to me! Makes me want to switch back to Android right away!
DesuVR I’m with you completely. I own the phone and the PC but Apple continues to control how I (try to) manage the files on their largely over-hyped gadget.
Apple is terrible. It thinks it owns your property and nothing you do or say will persuade them otherwise.
I have the same problem. Sigh. Makes me want to switch to Android. My phone storage is full so im trying to transfer my files to my pc so i can delete them from my phone but apple makes it so hard.
That’s kind of the point. Apple deliberately makes this stuff easier if you’re performing these operations between two apple devices and more difficult if one of them is a non-apple device. They’re trying to incentivize you to buy in to their ecosystem. Airdrop only works natively (ie without downloading a 3rd party app) between apple devices and if i’m not mistaken it can utilize bluetooth as well as wifi to transfer files.
I have an Iphone for over a year and cant weit to switch back to Android, I never got used to it with all the invasive stuff. I mean Im aware that owning any smartphone your data is accesible sadly etc., but iphone just makes it so obvious that its unnerving.

Save to files? All of them are already files! I don't get it :/ I mean, where is the part when I connect the phone to the PC with a cable, the phone asks me if I wanna transfer files, propagate my device as a media device, a camera, a tether device, a reversed charger, a reversed master->slave device or I just simply wanna charge the phone's battery? Where is it?

I want to save just one iMessage thread to my PC but there is no way to save it to Files and you did mention messages along with the other things that can be transferred. NOTE: I went to delete anytrans off my pc since I wouldn’t spend $40 and a screen popped up offering it for $25 which is a fair price! Maybe you could share that tip with your subscribers.

This idea is good if i want transfer only 1 to 100 photos but if i have more then 8K it will take time to save it in gallery

the issue is that you need to have space in your phone to do that, if you're running out of space this won't work, do you have another method
This is not a viable solution if you are dealing with gigabytes and gigabytes of files. With the android, you simply connected directly to your PC and you’re free to copy whatever files you need to back-and-forth.

You delete the the photos if you don’t want it you can clean it up

nvm, I use a 4Tb storage and use windows fotos and theirs this thing that it imports and deletes them from your phone while you’re transferring pics

Thanks for this, it makes things a lot easier. In the end, the combination of iPhone + Windows is not very challenging, you just have to find ways to transfer files, etc... I have never had any problems with Windows and iPhone

Just what I needed to know
iPhone storage is only useful if one takes a lot of photos and videos in high resolution, and installs many apps.
For better file management and multipurpose use, Android file system is better.

I just don't understand why we can't click and drag files like we have been doing on computers since the invention of windows 3.0 circa 1987/1988??? This feels like a reversion back to DOS/ 40-year step backwards in time... this process seems unnecessarily tedious!
...furthermore- I tried this with my iphone 12 mini- NOT THE SAME- not even close. none of these menus on my phone are even remotely similar to the ones shown in this video. Anybody have similar instructions for a 12mini?

Ok now please explain to me how to transfer files without the use of cloud services. I want to transfer files from the On my Iphone folder, no the icloud drive.
Very useful it worked
The PITA with iCloud is that you can’t download folders, you have to go into the iCloud folders and select each of the individual files that you want to download to your PC. I may be cynical but I can only assume that Apple don’t want you to easily use a local storage method so that you maintain your iCloud subscription. It certainly doesn’t work as easily as Dropbox for doing file transfers in any case. If anyone has a workaround for a bulk download of files from iCloud to PC I would love to know the answer!

What if my wife's iCloud storage is full (for years haha)? Should she delete majority of photos which are backed up to Prime Photos anyway and make room for the videos? Thank you.

50GB or less in size and you don't exceed your iCloud storage limit.

Very good video as far as it goes, but I would think many folks are interested in transferring music (mp3) files. If I purchase more space on iCloud (which I don't want to do) will my music files be there so I can download to my girlfriend's computer? I actually knew how to do everything the video covers, but I am interested in transferring music, which I know Apple doesn't want us to do because they want us to buy music from the Apple store. Sorry, not going to do that.
