I figured out if you put the centers in sideways and then twist them into the tire they go in smoothly.. and I didn’t even drop any of the 1mm hardware 🤪
@@raymondramos843 they are awesome!! I’ve only ran it once. I need a different radio for it the radio quit on me.. I have all new decals for it I wanna put on it one of these days too . We’ve got all kinds of radio shack cars and trucks. Give us a sub, I think you’ll like our content
@IowaBudgetRCBashers you were an instant sub the moment it started playing. So cool. I love bringing things back to life! I am looking forward to seeing your content. I'm working on the Arrow as I type this. Hurricane project. I'm in Oviedo,Florida.
Thanks buddy.. I can’t wait too. I just remembered I still gotta center the dang servo so gotta pull that back out and put some power to it before ripping it.
Awesome, looking good! The only thing I would sugggest, is cutting off those motor bullit connectors, and hardwiring the motor to the esc. You'll get less resistance which means more power and better run times. Same with the Tamiya connectors, you should change everything to Dean's ultra plugs.
I hope you have a blast with it! I thought it had the battery door on it... Did you pull an Addam and put it in that special hidden place where you you would find it and it is now lost forever and ever... or i am forgetting it did not have the door on it? It has been a while!
Haha it’s probably with the decals that I put somewhere to keep safe and can’t find lol 😂 I can’t wait to run it around, and bring back those childhood memories of running one through the mall hallway at radio shack.
@IowaBudgetRCBashers nice. I'm in the Desmoines. I rc all around iowa. I got a friend that lives in Davenport. Maybe we will see you around sometime. Cool channel.
Can you let us know what the part number is for the wheel assembly hardware kit and where it might be purchased? Also how do you adapt the Hornet wheels to the GA rear axle drive? Thanks!!
To mount the hornet wheels on the radio shack hubs is pretty easy, you trim the top part of the “flower, or you can just get Tamiya wheel adapters.. the hardware kit to put the wheels together was old cpp stuff I got off eBay, but it’s 1.5 mm hardware and nuts. Should be able to get it from Tamiya
Thanks much for the info. The Tamiya website is not very clear on what's in the different hardware kits but knowing it's M1.5 helps a lot. As far as the triming the wheels, I suspected that might be the answer but wasn't sure. Thanks so much for the reply! I ran the Golden Arrow and Red Arrow with my son back in the day. Now I'm going to do the same with HIS son!
@@IowaBudgetRCBashers I think you should because even Tamiya says when you upgrade the motor you should have ball bearings in it to deal with the extra power.
@@bradkalman2353 these had a 21t silver can stock, and the sport tuned is 21t. The gearbox is in perfect shape with no wear, on any of the gears or bushings. Unless you’re going big power and going to run it all the time you don’t need bearings. There’s a reason Tamiya doesn’t include bearings in their kits, it’s because the delrin bushings are designed to last the lifetime of normal running of the vehicle. This will only see occasional runs just like my other vintage RC’s so I’m not worried about it at all. Only reason it got bearings in the wheels is because I had some
@@IowaBudgetRCBashers the super stock motors from have high degrees of timing and they actually are lower turns sport tune and the super stock in their directions say you should have ball bearings in your car with these. Sport teams are not 21 turn motors they are 23 or 24 t and they have no degrees of timing. Believe it or not the super stocks have higher torque ratings than most of. Go to Tamiya to see what turns are each of there motors. Oh and speaking of those plastic bushings they when I had my first hornet. Nice work and can’t wait to see it ripping.
Me too buddy 😁
The referb has gone well, will be nice to see it running.
I’m hoping over Christmas break to take it out for a rip
Great build Thad and cool you put the the sniff into it again. I had already liked your short.
I actually made that for this video and decided to turn it into a short
Lol the sticker placement hit the good old ocd 😅great work Thad got most of it done
Haha.. it’s pretty much ready to run. Hoping over Christmas break to take it for a rip, maybe take the Holliday buggy out too..
@@IowaBudgetRCBashers looking forward to seeing it
Great to see the progress and those bead locks didn’t get the best of you. Merry Christmas

Looks great!! with the sport tuned you should have real bald rear tires in a jiffy! Happy Holidays!
Thanks buddy. Merry Christmas
Great build Thad looking forward to the run Merry Christmas🎄

I just found one of these Beauties in the trash. Couldn't believe it. Can't wait to get it going. Good job man! These things are awesome

Hey Thad it's coming along pretty good, can't wait to see it ripping down the road and in the backyard. 👍👍👍

great update on the build

Looking sweet Thad!👍😊
Thanks buddy. Can’t wait to run it around.
Have I mentioned I am looking forward to seeing this thing run?! Great video.
Probably won’t run it til it’s warm(er) out. Vintage RC plastic and cold don’t go together well.
@IowaBudgetRCBashers very fair!
great vid mate...perfect job😍

I use Tamiya connectors on my vintage Tamiya and other vintage stuff. I keep it old school. My modern stuff uses deans connectors or ec3’s
