SCP Explained: Maybe you are watching this on your phone, while you lie in bed, or maybe you're watching this at your desk, sitting in an office chair. Me, watching on my laptop while in bed: Why limit yourself to one?
“SCP-1609 represents a perfect example of the flaws inherent in the operating procedure of the [Global Occult Coalition], and serves as a cautionary tale for any members of the Foundation who disagree with our practices containing dangerous objects. Prior to the GOC getting their hands on this, it was perfectly harmless. A chair which teleports to you when you need a seat is normal compared to most of the stuff that we deal with on a regular basis. When they put it through a woodchipper, it got hurt, scared, and angry, so it lashed out at them. By trying to ‘PrOtEcT tHe WoRlD’ by destroying it, they inadvertently made the situation a whole lot worse. SCP-1609 went from harmless to deadly in the space of a few minutes because of the GOC, and we had to clean up the mess. Thankfully, SCP-1609 is pretty simple for us to deal with. So long as we don’t do anything stupid around it, it won’t fight back and it won’t try to leave. Even if it does, it usually comes back. I think I’ve worked out why. It came to us because it was afraid of the people who hurt it. That’s why it always comes back. It’s afraid of the rest of the world now, and it’s looking to us for protection. This is why we have Special CONTAINMENT Procedures instead of Special DESTRUCTION Procedures. If you break something, it’s broken forever. When you try to destroy an anomaly, you can’t take back your mistakes. That’s what SCP-1609 has to tell us. This is why we’re right and the GOC is wrong, people.” -Dr Sievert (1609’s original file)
Wow this is one of the one's I was well aware of before they covered it on this channel, as always they have a great way of adapting these stories into a very consumable format.
This is why you do your homework, people. The object was sentient and could teleport... think, people, think. On the flip side, if it ever gets over its trauma it could probably become a chair again after it teleports.

There's a reason the only time the foundation really tries to destroy something is if it's a large threat. The foundation seeks to study SCPs and if possible make a mundane version out of the helpful ones that can then be produced and given to the public, contain those things that aren't that beneficial, destroy the hostile things that pose a threat to the world if possible, and contain everything else. The key to that is to understand everything about an object.

The fact that this is fictional is what makes it even more interesting
...what?
What? How does it make it more interesting by being fake?
this is real
8:39 Why does SCP-1609 actually look so wholesome in this scene
SCP Foundation: "Don't destroy anomalies."
SCP-682: Am I joke to you
Well it has been proven that 682 is better off dead for everyone
You destroy anomaly, if it's hostile to humans and life itself. And SCP-682 is just that - it wants all life to end.
@@ceu160193 check 6001.
Ah yes, the one mad chair used as SCP propaganda against the GOC
They got a point though - you can't undo what you did, and you actually can make situation a lot worse. SCP objects often aren't inherently hostile, but will clearly become hostile, should your attempt to destroy them and fail.
The GOC is really a complete moronic organization.
Their blatant excuse over the Chair is really pathetic.
Driving theme of theirs, "Shoot first, ask question later".
I agree with the SCP Foundation procedure whether it's damn cold and sadistic but they do always goes for, "Knowledge is Power".
@@InsertUsernameHere_a It still doesn't answer, what would they do with anomalies, that are beneficial. Like SCP-500, which is cure to any disease, anomalous or not.
Don't worry, the GOC used the Hitchiker ones for counter-argument
U taking this too seriously
I think the goc would've been a lot better if they just went and destroyed anomalies that are actually dangerous or harmful F for the chair
all organizations here have brain damage
They did. I can give you examples
@@thecoronavirus1819show
Problem is, they destroy ALL anomalies they find, and some of those are vital for reality to exist.

SCP-1609: (no longer a chair)
SCP-914 on Fine Setting: "Are you sure about that?"
I’ve thought about that, myself. Or take some of the wood chips and plant them in 124
I love that the chair knew that the SCP foundation would treat it better
Even if the chair was incinerated I bet it's anomalous properties would still persist as ashes rather than wood chips. They should've just left it alone.
GOC: Who are you?
SCP-1609: You woodchipped me to pieces!
GOC: Do you have the slightest idea how little it narrows it down?
This is why we’re right and the GOC is wrong, people.”
-Dr Sievert (1609’s original file)
Cry me a river of tears.
Wow this is one of the one's I was well aware of before they covered it on this channel, as always they have a great way of adapting these stories into a very consumable format.
Chair: Merely exists
GOC: I dont wanna
Safe Anomaly: *exists*
GOC: and i took that personally
This is why you do your homework, people. The object was sentient and could teleport... think, people, think. On the flip side, if it ever gets over its trauma it could probably become a chair again after it teleports.
"Trust takes Years to build, And seconds to break"
Chair:teleports to someone near G.O.C
G.O.C:the only place ur going is the woodcutter
I have a unrelated question: do scp wiki writers have any lore about them, or the scp wiki website ?
I think yes but I'm not Sure
Yes, there's a wiki for all scps
Its defined on the user.
Some think there isn't any lore and some think everything that happens is counted as lore.

I honestly think they should just terminate the evil ones in other words anomalies that coulf cause a xk zk sk endowed the world scenarios while the ones that are more normal and don’t cause trouble can live
@@Thefellowmemeguy Well, that is the most logical thinking, and the SCP foundation "follow" this philosophy, and I say "follow" because the prefer study than terminate, how make some questionable decisions

This personally made me very sad. As a dishwasher I would he standing up for around 6 hours straight with not too much time or space to sit down. I would’ve loved to step outside and have this chair let me relieve my back pain for a bit. So tragic that it’s destroyed

But have they tried putting it in SCP-914, “The Clockworks”?
@Ahmed Iqbal Sounds terrifying.
@Ahmed Iqbal can be a double edged swrord
It might revert it to its original form or heal it but
There's also the possibility of amplifying it's ptsd and anxiety
@Ahmed Iqbal Problem is, you don't know what happens next. There already were incidents with putting living organisms in 914, and it's how Cassie came to existence.
It's pretty iffy and such an experiment would never be approved, as there is the potential for the clockworks to trigger the SCP's PTSD either due to the sound it makes or when it actually starts going to work, and even if such an experiment succeeded there's a chance it would come out as something worse.

This is a very interesting SCP
Who would win:
An organization dedicated to protecting humanity from anomalous entities that possess near-unlimited resources and advanced technology, or.....
One wooden boi?
I’m glad the GOC failed to put the chair in the incinerator while it was running. Imagine how much damage that chair can cause if it panic-teleports everywhere while on fire.
Reminder: a single chair killed six GOC operatives.
The SCP Foundation only lost one.
If only there was one for how to kill a spc
There is no universal "how to neutralise anomaly" instruction, since not all anomalies are same.

This is a sad story, just like the love boat incident. :/ The GOC is (or should i use are, because they are an umbrella of several groups...) in the wrong here.
