Great Vid on a great guy. Been a huge fan of his since the 80's through the 90's when I was a skater. As a huge fan of Kevin Smith movies myself (Clerks being my absolute fav), seeing him pop up in Mallrats made it an instant classic for me. I've easily seen it over 100 times. His photo work is truly awesome and has influenced a lot in the way I shoot, which coincidentally very similar to one of my other fav photogs Kyle McDougall. Cheers.

Thanks so much for watching and commenting! I wish I had discovered his skating career way earlier, his story is so fascinating (as is the story of 80's/90's skateboarding in general). And yeah Mallrats is an absolute classic, as is Dogma and Chasing Amy, both of which he is amazing in. Cheers to you!

nice video.. Jason Lee was just on the Nine Club show again the other day..i liked seeing that bit about the Bolex.. i bought one during college years in like 2010.. so i didn't have to use the schools' cameras (one less scheduling timeframe to sorry about) just got it back yesterday,, it was stuck at my parents house for the last eight years or so.. great memories.. Paris, Texas.. Robby Mueller is my favorite cinematographer.., i didn't know how invested Jason Lee was in photography.. i grew up with skateboarding along with all my friends and that's how i got into cameras ,, its funny how many people get involved the same way.. nice video here

Interesting insight on the the question of perceived value. I'm about to give a presentation on B&W film photography, and I'll be citing the thread that weaves throughout countless comments on the rebound of film photography -- that slowing down, thinking more about each image, having to wait for the result, working through darkroom work, adds perceived value to the image and, implicitly, to the activity of photographing.

Where in Mississippi were you? I moved here a few years ago and have had the desire to photograph these every-town American lost places.

I spent a little bit of time in Tupelo, MS. Definitely has that every-town America vibe, in my opinion. Also thanks for watching/commenting! It means the world to me!

Nice video, but staring at your pink backdrop made me see green for hours dude! Yeah, I like Jason Lee's photography. Good stuff!

Noted about the pink background, I'll definitely be retiring that color from the rotation! But thank you so much for watching and torturing your eyeballs!

I've always thought of Jason Lee as a street photographer. But, his streets are the small towns and back roads across America.

I hope he would admit this, but inspiring skater, mediocre photographer, and a very happy man, a great human. That is what inspires me about him. And you should do drugs. They can be very helpful in your journey.
