Ringo Starr is the GOAT when it comes to photographing the behind the scenes of what it's like to be bigger than life. His photos capture the mundane moments of the Beatles and allow the four boys to be humanized. Excellent stuff by Ringo!
Respect to all these people. Honestly didnt expect much but a good majority of these photos are great with their own style and personality imposed on the photos
Sadly passed away you have Leonard Nimoy and Roddy McDowall who were both well known for their photography. Very much alive you have Bryan Adams, who maybe the most successful current celebrity who is also a photographer,
Andy Summers of the Police is a brilliant photographer who documented the whole of The Police's career. The documentary about him is well worth tracking down (Can't Stand Losing You).
If these people aren't celebrities, then most of them probably would remain as an unknown, similar to an undiscovered Vivian Maier. No doubt there are thousands, if not millions of them throughout the decades. For instance, the gallery owner who re-discovered Fan Ho (enthusiast photographer, Asian actor, director) after he retired at the States, who was already a master photographer 3-4 decades earlier (>200 awards & named twice as the world best) and asked him "Are you a photographer?" during their first encounter. 🙂
@@metalfingersfilm This was a chance meeting with Mark Pinsukanjana, co-owner Modernbook Gallery in Palo Alto after Fan Ho (dubbed as the Henri Cartier-Bresson of the East) after he retired in California. As a result, he gained more exposure in the West and now there is plenty info on the Internet. As well, there is a good intro video at 'The Art of Photography' channel.
I agree with you. Because some celebrities have attention and exposure, their photography works will be easier to be discovered by the public, and the road to photography will be better than that of ordinary photographers. Japan's Masaharu Fukuyama, for example, is a singer and actor, as well as a photographer. He shot CD covers for other singers, a poster for clothing brand NICOLE, and later as a professional photographer for TV Asahi for the Olympic Games in Sydney, Athens and Beijing. What‘s more, in China, not long ago, a group of pictures of the famous Chinese actor Tony Leung went viral. Surprisingly, this group of photos stemmed from a 9-year-old girl named Shengsheng. Glance over her social media platform can find that she has also photographed many celebrities. Many people are curious about why Shengsheng a little girl can cooperate with so many stars, after careful understanding, it turns out that Shengsheng's father is a famous photographer Zou Yupeng. There is no denying that their photography level is good, but if without the blessing of their celebrity status, for ordinary photographers, it requires a lot of effort to get these photograph opportunities.
John "Bermuda" Schwartz (Weird Al's drummer) Andy Summers (guitarist for The Police) Tony Levin (Bassist for Peter Gabriel) Karl Largerfeld (fashion Designer) But then if I feel like I have to write who they are, maybe they're not famous enough.
Lenny Kravitz came 1989 so over 30 years and sold over 40 millions..you got to get it right! And Kravitz Design has done 2 leicca cameras..one he is using in your piece. He has a book out called Flash!!
While they are great photographers, the only reason they are successful and recognized for it is because of who they are. There are many great photographers out there who do not have that ability because no one cares who they are.
This is more about whose behind instead of in front of the lens from the slim pickings I'm viewing here. They all have entry, access and travel at their disposal, say a lot, but show little. Bridges stuff is fun but a gimmick, Sprouse displays some provocative work but the rest leave me wanting. No lessons learned from these "celebs" here, unless Jeff wants to loan me his camera for awhile.

Woah, do you have any more info on this? Sounds really intriguing

John "Bermuda" Schwartz (Weird Al's drummer)
Andy Summers (guitarist for The Police)

But then if I feel like I have to write who they are, maybe they're not famous enough.
Hahaha, all good additions!!
Zach Bryan also shoots film i believe, and makes amazing music!
Winona Ryder is also a published photographer.
So many people I missed, maybe I'll make a pt. 2!

Jessica Lange is also a wonderful photographer, T Hopper is one of my favorite creators as well
Another Celebrity who's deep into photography is DJ DNice (rapper and DJ from the 90s)...
Seal, Jason Mamoa and Jeff Garlin are all Leica enthusiasts.
Ahhh yes, I forgot about those guys!
Christie Brinkley, boxing. Heath Ledger

Check out Andy Summers
Rian Johnson takes some dope photos. But I guess you couldn’t really all him a celebrity.
Helena Christensen is good
😀
:)
While they are great photographers, the only reason they are successful and recognized for it is because of who they are. There are many great photographers out there who do not have that ability because no one cares who they are.
I would probably be inclined to agree. So much discipline and business savviness must ensue to really make it as a photographer.
Stewart Copeland is great, as was Kenny ROgers
Kenny Rogers
Stanley Kubrick
8:58 you don't gaze through the lens of a T3! you look through a viewfinder, quite separate from the lens.
it was a play on words for Frank ocean. He has a single called “lens” 😂

You missed Julian Lennon
