This weekend we're unplugging from it all & getting some much needed fishing therapy at our off grid, remote Alaska cabin! We bought this cabin in 2023 & it has been a blessing to our family ever since. Alaska is beautiful and unlike anywhere else, but out at our remote cabin, it's a whole other world! The wildlife is everywhere, wild flowers line the landscape and really put on a great show featuring the wilds of ALASKA during the summer season. Thanks for joining us for another video!

I was raised in Northern New Brunswick in Canada. We have a very large population of moose. It is common to see them on the highway after being hit by cars, and even semi trucks. The moose wins.
A lot of roads here are two lane and treed on both sides.
Everyone with a brain stem, knows to slow down when coming around a corner.
If at night, you see one on the road. Turn off your lights, keep your foot on the brake to let others know you are stopped.
A moose is no joke. They are dangerous, and will kill you.
They lose their minds during mating.
I have hunted during mating season, hearing a male moose charging thru trees, and snapping them like twigs. Scares the crap out of you.
I had lived in Yellowknife for a few years. Truly miss the quiet.

What an idyllic childhood Parker has. He is so connected to the earth, his family and the dogs. What a gift you are giving him. Totally understand we only see the highlight reel but still wonderful for him.

This is how life should be lived
After the dock is done, you might want to look into putting up a few solar panels there for emergencies. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy since it’s supposed to to be a get-a-way place, but it wouldn’t hurt to have a back up source of power for when the generator fails.
Once you get the dock done at the main property, you could think about putting a little screen room at the end where your platform will be. Allowing you to sit without being eaten alive, it doesn’t have to a large screened in area or even anything fancy either.

A friend visited Alaska 10 years ago and she told me about the mossies. Seriously she told me they were as big as helicopters. Here in Australia they are itty bitty nuisances.

Joe what I did to our bush camp porch we put a 2"x2" on the center of the poles. Then on the inside put screen on the frames for summer than made plastic frames and put them on the outside 2"x2". Screwed the frames so it would be easy to take the plastic one off in the spring. we bought wagons and got harnesses made to strap to our backs to pull the gear to the 1 mile to the bush camp but it was not as high a grade as your,

@bethannleuck. yes I've heard marigolds are mosquitoes repellent. Also geraniums and chrysanthemums. there is another plant but can't remember the name, they're variegated green and cream colored,but theyre really good,and have a nice smell. A farmer told me he just calls them his mosquito plant!

I love your Remote cabin! What a wonderful place to refresh and be thankful for how God has blessed the family. On another note, I have a Berkey. It is such a blessing to me. I have had it for several years. I have found that every few months if I take a Mr Clean sponge/water and scrub the charcoal filters, I get more life from the filters. Then every 3-4 years, I invest in a new set of filters. For me this prevents any “off” taste from the Berkey. I use to purchase and carry packs of distilled water home to have drinkable/cooking water. The Berkey has eliminated this hated chore! I keep a few bottles of water in the refrigerator for folks that prefer the store bought water. Suggestion-when leaving the cabin to go back home, remove water from the Berkey. Growing up my grandpa told me that marigolds are good for keeping bugs away from your garden. Marigold also ke3p mosquitoes away. When a flower bud died I pinch it off it smells and the mosquitoes don't like the smell. I plant them all over my patio, by the front door and by my out door table and chairs. It also adds a pop of color around the property.
You build that dock and you sit on it a drink your coffee and forget the people that say they don’t approve. BTW, we could hang with y’all, we fix our soft taco exactly the way you do. Keep up the great work. Hope you get to feeling better. My wife has lime as well. Not fun.

I’m a mosquito magnet, not so much a problem in New England but definitely down south. Years ago I traveled to Boracay in the Philippines, and I was scared of being eaten alive. My solution was eating rice topped with lots of sautéed garlic every morning for breakfast. 1 week there, only one bite seriously. It might be too strong for Parker, but it worked for me!

Tina Awesome video!! I had to laugh when Parker was roasting marshmallows over the stove. When we lived in Fairbanks one evening my son wanted to roast marshmallows outside. So he built a fire in the pit but the mosquitoes were so bad that evening he came in and made them over the stove just like what Parker was doing. It brought back a wonderful memory. Living in North Pole/ Fairbanks area for 20 years there was years the mosquitoes were worst then others. Love ya guys and God Bless.

Tina my much better half is so sweet the mosquitos welt him up. Five years ago I put him on B1 and he’s never been bit again. B1 is what makes multivitamins stink and blood suckers don’t like the taste one iota! It might be worth a try but it needs to be a strong dose and it can’t harm you. I’m not so sweet because they don’t even land on me! 😂 I’d be sitting on the dock with you, but then again I’m a ten year vet also! We adapt 🤩

Must have been hard to bake in that heat. You should bake in your grill outside. I use to bake rolls when we went camping.
It was warm but when we open all the windows in the cabin, we do get a breeze so it helps.😊

What an amazing video, haters beware your going after God himself when you go after this family! Jesus will let them know when they've out stepped eachothers desires. I think having the dock is a great thing for parker being closer to help,and them being right in the midst of heaven! This is thier dream they share with us, not ours to direct lol . If people don't approve of your actions, they can always change channels!! With Parker & the dogs playing in the tall grass, I hope you check all of them for ticks nightly. Deer & bear habitat is the perfect tick habitat, too.
Thankfully ticks are rare in Alaska & usually (typically) are only found on certain animals, not plants up here.😊
