I beat dlc 3 boss with monarch. That gun is great if built right. Plus after you trigger the chain animation. Dis engage the mod and you will have ample boost to your damage.

Crit is a safer bet yes especially since sometimes weak spot gets a bit funky with the monarch. Crit is always a safe option
