I know so much about gilded age fashion, Victorian fashion, ect and im always surprised that almost no one is on theme but idk why im ever surprised.
No one should’ve worn Marilyn’s dress. It goes against the rule of museums to preserve history. Letting someone wear a delicate dress that is too small on them is not doing that 😅
Yes!! Marilyn was sewn into that dress, so for ANYONE to squeeze into it, is so disrespectful. Even the dress designer Bob Mackie came out and stated that it was “a big mistake!” If we the people are to listen to just one person, it should be Bob..

Hmm i think this is a bit of a stretch. The people who wore that pink were all in Valentino and that color is called Valentino Pink. It was honestly more of Valentino promoting their new ready-to-wear collection and not about following the Met gala theme.
If the carpet looking absolutely disgusting was a design choice I have to say I approve, the floor was the most on theme part of the whole event

It's not even close to the same colour lmao. Maybe you got confused as the pants look a similar shade, but if you look at the bottom of the pants you see the ACTUAL bright teal shade, and the rest of the pants just look darker cause of the shadow of his jacket. It's very much a vibrant teal which Cody's jacket isnt lol.

Fun fact: the celebrities are invited by designer and they have to wear whatever the designer that invited them picks out/designs. SOME celebrities might have some say but majority dont pick their fit.
That’s why must of the time ppl aren’t on theme. The designer use the met gala as a fashion show
i didn’t know this but it makes sense, especially considering the celebrities who are usually REALLY not on theme and in something generic are the C-list celebrities who are lucky to even be there
i thought they were invited by the met but designers will offer to pay for their ticket if they wear what they choose for them?
you would think the designers would take the opportunity to do their own design or take on the theme, so it's really underwhelming and disappointing to see the end result of what the celebrities show up in, it reflects badly on both of them, how is that good press

Kim wearing Marilyns dress is not... how do I state this nicely... cool. It is the most expensive historian dress (bought for 5 million dollars) and Ripleys could only lend it to Kim bc they are not a verified museum but belong to entertainment. Nontheless Ripley and Kim disregarded literally every rule museums have for historic dresses: move it like not at all, as little exposure to light as possible, sealed in a temperature controlled container etc. Kim wearing it (despite her diet it didn't fit, the zipper was open hence the fur scarf) she irrversibly damaged the dress: moving, trying it on and taking it off, stretching it on the stairs and exposing it to bright lighting. Historian dress is to be treated carefully, behaviour like this will deteriate it way faster. Kim wearing a replica matched to her skin tone would have been better, not only to be more respectful towards museums, dress historians, marilyn and the designer but also would have had the actual effect of marilyns dress: matching the skin tone made her seem like she was just glittering, wearing nothing. This dress is an important historic piece, not only birthday but also fashion revolution wise. Abby Cox made a great video about it, and to quote her off the top of my head: "the gilded age was not about massive wealth, but showing off and covering trash with gold. Which kinda makes it on theme" (note: she didn't say that Kim was trash, but rather that celebrieties just can do stuff like that without any rules or cosequences). And to quote the comments under Abbys video: Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Congratulations what a unique opinion. While probably in poor taste, at the end of the day, it's is just a dress. In the tier list of issues this is a definite "level 1 - dicky but doesn't really matter". No one is getting hurt, or losing their lively hood or homes because of this.

I honestly think Marilyn Monroe’s dress didn’t suit Kim. The dress is such an iconic piece of history. It was tailored for Marilyn, who looked stunning. Because the dress MATCHED HER SKIN COLOR and gave a light nude effect. However, with Kim, she had to lose a lot of weight to fit into the dress. It also didn’t have the same show-stopping nude effect because Kim is considerably tanner. It would have been better if she had made a new dress similar to Marilyn's but tailored for HER.
She couldn't even zip it up her back because of her BBL

Ok...you guys are always adorable...but Kelsey's legit concern when she thought Cody slipped was the most heart warming thing I've seen this year.
I honestly HATE that Kim wore Marilyn’s dress, it doesn’t fit her well, it feels disrespectful and most of all she literally could have ruined the dress, you can see the video of her putting it on and… ugh it hurt my soul, there’s no way that many of the rhinestones didn’t fall off, not to mention it could be stained with makeup, she could scratch it with her nails… just absolutely not. And it wasn’t even on theme and it didn’t fit her as it should, the back didn’t even close and that’s why she’s wearing the coat (and she legit had to lose weight just to get into it), so it’s like you are just wearing it to show that you can?? It is a piece of history so it should be on a museum, not on a red carpet.

As and indian and a fan of Cody and Kelsey as well as Emma Chamberlain, It is extremely important to acknowledge that Emma (probably unknowingly) wore a necklace that belonged to an Indian King. That jewel was STOLEN from our land by the british and its extremely disrespectful to wear it to such an event.

Okay but a couple of weeks ago I commented where are the new fashion reviews because I LOVE them and I had such an awful night at work after having to cop absolute abuse from some customers as the worst part and I came home and cried and my anxiety was so bad that I couldn’t relax.
