  • www.PingSkills... - The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:
    1) Your feet position
    2) Your start position
    3) Your finish position
    If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.

    Salam(Hello) from Afghanistan. I am getting better and better by watching your videos. I live in one of the biggest cities of Afghanistan Mazar-i-Sharif which doesn't have even one Table Tennis club to enroll. Fortunately, we have just one table and a few bats and balls in our company and practice with our colleagues. God bless you for such wonderful videos that you share with millions of people around the world who love and want to learn table tennis.

      Thanks so much for your kind words. It is wonderful to hear your story. Good luck with your table tennis. I hope more companies can provide tables and bats and balls so more people can play.

    It looks like Jeff's forehand is quite short without a lot of forearm snap (or long exented arm). Would this qualify as the European style forehand?

    • @pingskills
      @pingskills  Месяц назад

      You could categorise it that way, yes.

    I tend to brush the top, around 1-2 o’clock, of the ball and let my rubber catch and throw the balls forward. Would you recommend not playing like that?

    • @pingskills
      @pingskills  8 месяцев назад

      That sounds like you are adding more topspin which is a great idea. This stroke is a basic stroke that you can build on to play more aggressive shots. We call that a forehand topspin or forehand loop. So keep going with that if it is working for you!

    Funny how all Chinese videos start with the body transfer. Actually they show how you can already pass the ball without moving the arm. The torsion of the body and the transfer of weight already move the body in the correct swing

      Amen to that. Big fan of Alois & Jeff here but I do find the "European" channels putting too much emphasis on the "salute" motion, as if it's a conscious move, while clearly it's a consequence of the arm being driven forward by the body rotation. The "salute" finish is helpful to ensure full range of motion but it's not the driving factor. The weight transfer is. And that's too often ignored in non-Asian instructionals. Fortunately, Jeff is doing everything right here, so imitating him won't hurt.
