- Taco Bell has brought back their famous Mexican Pizza by popular demand, unfortunately I didn't get what I was hoping for - especially considering all of the hype.

Report of the week. I know exactly what the issue is. I used to work at a taco bell, and the employees can be so lazy sometimes that they just leave the refried beans they haven't used in the table when it was supposed to be thrown away every two or so hours. What happens is that the beans get dry and hard from the heated table, when really it is supposed to be softer and more liquid than you may have experienced. Unfortunately the quality of employees at Taco Bell is awful almost everywhere.
That's brilliant, a Mexican pizza smoothie! By the way this is a good time to bring up the topic if you are in the market for a girlfriend or wife try Mexican women! I think you'll be happy! **By the way I eat all of my Mexican food in a bowl and if I want a crispy crunchy tortilla I hold that in my left hand and take a big giant bite and then eat the other with a spoon. That's the way I roll mostly downhill. ***One more thing I know you won't review this but you might like Chinese donuts which are not round and do not have a hole but anyway Google that you may find it you like to treat Chinese donuts yum yum yum!

Decades ago when the Mexican Pizza first debuted it was greatness. It was thick with meat and beans, lots of sauce and cheese, topped with black olives, green onions, diced tomatoes . Over the years though it got cheaper and cheaper in value while the price went higher and higher. I sure miss the early version.
Could this be due to the pandemic or new people in the corperation running the show?
@@lavendermclindon1721 both
@@gabriel1095 well shoot😗
What I miss is the version of the Taco Salad from my youth. Sure, it was the most expensive item on the menu, but it was worth every penny. The shell was the size of a person's head! Last time I had it, it was the size of a child's fist. I don't think it's even on the menu anymore.
Sounds delicious! I wanna make it at home!
I first ordered the Mexican pizza from Taco Bell in the 1980's. I ordered on a regular basis until about 10 years ago, when I cut out fast food. It originally came with white cheese, green onions, black Olives, and chopped tomatoes.
So much better in the 80s.
It also had the supreme Mexican pizza!!
Dam that sounds good
I was born in 1998 and this used to be my go to when I was a little kid. I remember it almost exactly how you described it minus the black olives, however this is just a disaster.
@@georgevillalobos8441 It literally only had 4 slices of black olives, 1 slice on each quarter. They were only there for a few years.

I feel ya bro, I had a transgender coworker we worked at a Tacobell and he/she would jizz in the sourcream called it "jizzzam" I suggested they call it "cumshot"
This pizza is just shameful Taco Bell took no pride in making this. I remember when they used to put sour cream, black olives, and green onion actually making it look the part of something different and special when you ate it. This falls flat on it's face clearly the toppings used to be smack dead center well presented a basic party for your mouth. The pizza was actually precut at one point as well. Throughout the years Taco Bell started removing toppings leaving it a bare husk of what it used to be.
Yes indeed, I was quite mad about the green onions going.. i would always order extra sauce and green onions and tomatoes on mine.. now *Hands up in air*
You are showing your age. That was in the 80s when they first came out. It was called Pizzazz Pizza, and they did indeed taste much better.
ruclips.net/video/q8Ivdg0Go0o/видео.html
Yes it was layered much better and had more ingredients. That's also when their prices were decent too.
But that looks nothing like the old Mexican pizza.
I started working there in 1986 1 year from when it started, there was never sour cream.. just the green onions and black olives, 4 to be exact.. and tomatoes.. but back then the sauce completely covered and spilled over on some edges of the top shell... these look pathetic.. always order extra sauce and tell them to make it right, also you could bring 4 slices of black olives and fresh chopped green onions, since those 2 items were never baked,, those went on right before serving..😁.
You just gave me the idea to buy one and add all these toppings to it myself at home!
This is an L for Taco Bell. I remember when the Mexican pizza had the fresh tomatoes and green onions. I see a lot of these fast food chains are using the "pandemic" as an excuse to be lazy.
I went to a Jack in the Box yesterday at like 7pm, and when I came up to the drive thru the guy on the speaker said they were only open for Door Dash and Online Pickup. Apparently there was only one guy running the whole building!!!!! Pandemic or not, this is insane. I wish fast food companies would either get their stuff together or shut down restaurants that just can’t make it. Would save them money and their brand image… because that was just sad.
@@CalebRazzleberry yep
Don’t forget the sliced black olives.
@@reneeladrigue2715 they forgot the black olives and the green onions.
At my local McDonald's around like 10-11 at night there's always a huge drive thru line. But this time it was moving slower than usual. When we finally drove up to pay and receive our order, it turned out it was one guy working the entire damm restaurant WITH their systems down. So he had to make, prepare and calculate everything himself by hand. It was fucking ridiculous. When we asked why it it was just him, he said everyone pretty much just walked out. He was humble as hell about it though.

The fact that this is five dollars while little Cesar’s can still sell a whole ass pepperoni pizza for $8 just goes to show that Taco Bell has lost all sense of value and is now purely capitalizing on people addiction to their flavor profile. That's sad. When I used to work at Taco Bell, I actually took a lot of pride in making my food look pretty.
go back.
Same! I was a crew trainer and I always emphasized making the food LOOK as good as it tastes. There are some real simple improvements Taco Bell can make with the Mexican Pizza to help with it aesthetically. First, put a couple of scallions on top for a nice pop of color. Second, there should be maybe a quarter-portion of beef on top to give it some texture (instead of relying only on the tomatoes for that reason). Also, they need to heat it just a bit less... leave it in the toaster just long enough to melt the cheese, but not so long as to make the cheese into one homogeneous blob that mixes right in with the sauce.
Just keeping with the recipe as-given, though, that Mexian Pizza was was over-melted and lacked the tomatoes for the texture element.

Or it could be lean beef--beef on its own is rather bland. It's the fat, spices and sauces that really bring out the flavours.

To be fair, everyone with a brain knows this is not authentic Mexican food.
He is correct they get so soggy faster than they used to back in 2002
I have noticed that the quality of food greatly varies by location. My local Taco bell never gets it right and even when you order a bean burrito the proportions are all off. However, the location 20 miles away looks like their food is assembled with love and care and ready for an IG picture.
I’ve even noticed that some locations have much better food on some days but are way worse on others; like you can go to the same taco bell and get a great crunchwrap one day and get a terrible one the next. Not even entirely sure how that’s possible. I agree with the location thing, I think Burger King also follows this rule.

Hi Review Brah, as a taco bell employee I have to tell you they messed it up. Big time. Of all fast food restaurants, Taco bell and burger king have hit rock bottom. They just dont care about quality anymore and I'd assume their employees are miserable because the service is awful. It's clear whoever made that didn't care to add all the ingredients and make it right. It was just thrown together. Employees dont care, management doesn't care and upper management doesn't seem to care either. I work at Taco Bell right now. The reason for your specific pizza looking the way it does is due to the small amount of supply for pizzas throughout America. Back in the time of 1997 that was the time when I started to work at Taco Bell as my first job when I came to US and you're right, they had the very good menus and I loved it, they also had green onion on top of the Mexican Pizza to make it look more colorful and more flavor, shame on Taco Bell, they changed the menu a lot and not look like what it used to be now. Does anyone agree to urge Taco Bell to bring Double Deck Taco and 7 Layer Burrito back?
Yes, I too worked there around this time and the menu was very good. When they began the perfect taco program and changed the taco sauce packets I knew it was heading down hill. The final nail in the old menu coffin was the 7 layer death. This company has tried to placate millenial taste buds and has committed a Jack Kevorkian move

I also used to eat these about 15 years ago when I was a teenager and loved them. I specifically remember the tomatoes being a key part of them, adding that fresh pop (albeit they were notorious for putting the end of the tomato on it and you had to pick it out) What you got here looks awful. I will no longer eat at taco bell because they served me tainted beef a couple year ago and I had a horrific case of food poisoning.

I would get the one I had again, his did look pathetic though, my tacobell is great with portions Altough for the price you can get more food from the box meals but for me it's a meal, but a box meal is 2 meals for the same price and it has a drink plus the app let's you get a crunch wrap in the boxes lol
Mine had no tomatoes, and only the top layer was cut. It was good for being free, but I won't pay $5 for it
Its just nvr been anything special.
Taco bell in general is geared toward people with the munchies 🤣 that and drunk people getting rides home after bar close when tbell is the only place open 🤣🤣🤣
I loved my public schools Mexican pizza. It was so good. Even though half the time the meat was expired, it just brings back so many good memories
You just unlocked a memory in me lol
The BEEF at Taco Bell has little “Vein / Aorta valve” pieces in it. Don’t believe me… take some BEEF in a strainer and rinse it thoroughly with water and inspect. Nasty.
10:26 I love how he is giving them a second chance to prove themselves. A true gentleman.
The good ole days of Taco Bell was 12 tacos for $5 "always soft", the bean burrito actually had sauce, cheese and onions.. If you went "fancy menu" you had the beef mexi-melt with pico de gallo and then the wonderful Mexican pizza that was light n crispy with the tomatoes, cheese and sauce.. You know it's been awhile back but they started putting rice in everything, rice and cheese.. Well who in the Hell wants rice as a filler?
That and those weird red tortilla strips they suddenly feel the need to throw into virtually everything. It's like it was TB's version of striking gold or something. 😆
It’s cheap…that’s why they do it
Used to love the Mexi-Melt and the Mexican pizza.
I actually just quit a job at Taco Bell. I think the rice adds texture and it makes burritos more filling. I myself like to add the potato bites to burritos , and sometimes I sub meat for them as well.
And the rice isn’t even good
Who wants rice as a filler? Hispanics. Yes! I went to an authentic Mexican food stand some years ago run by Hispanics. I bought tacos and was picking out the fillings and the man told me I needed to add rice and black beans in order for it to be a decent taco.
This looks like something you make in a college dorm where they've banned hot plates.
I completely agree with this assessment. Calling back the the Taco Bell of the 90s and 2000s, those Mexican pizzas used to be thicker. They also used to have another ingredient, green onions on top. Ever since they ditched the green onions it hasn't been the same. In addition this new Mexican pizza shell is not quite the same as before. I would rate this a 4/10, an extra point for that nostalgia factor you mentioned.
why all the fast food chains aren't souping up every one of their franchises near ReviewBrah to make their quality flagship-store-level is beyond me
While unholy mortals bathe in nasty water from their local supply, the immortal Reviewbrah bathes in Mexican pizza sauce. It's no wonder a god like him has such perfect hygiene.
Jokes aside, that pizza you ate looks like an insult to both Mexico and Italy...is Taco Bell trying to start a war? Taco Bell needs to get back to its roots of cheap, decent, easy food.
That's just enchilada sauce. Remember when Taco Bell used to have enchiladas on the menu? Hell, most of the shit they have now is not even authentic Mexican food, they just make shit up 😂
You'd be shocked how many people suddenly pretended they loved this trash when it was taken away.
@@MrDman21 It's never been authentic Mexican food.
cheap is not what I'd describe taco bell
"I'll tell you what. I know I might be a few days late... But that's just the way it is."
Freaking blew my hair back, savage.
I feel the same, I got the same order the flavors was not like it used to be. Very underwhelming
I remember making these when working at Taco Bell in 2010. Pizza shell, scoop of beef, scoop of beens, top shell, scoop of pizza sauce, pinch of 3 cheese, pinch of tomatos, into the steamer, cut into 4 slices. Doesn't appear they're making them the same way.
I currently work at Taco Bell and we make them the exact same way to this day. They’re just bad 😬
@@natalieridgway8144 in the year I worked for TB, I think I maybe made 10 of them and I worked at the busiest store in Michigan.
I don't get the public. Beef meximelts were the true taco bell bangers that were discontinued. Hope we get those back.
@@randkamza1206 yeah, but they got rid of pico de gallo. The Bell is listening to the wrong people. The food sucks now. It truly sucks.
When I was 16 in 1987 I remember making these at the TacoBell in Minneapolis and they looked nothing at all like the one in this video, shameful
It used to have black olives and green onions. It isn't the same as it used to be.
You have to eat this item fresh - like literally once they hand it from the drive thru. It’s so bomb it’s my fav item there now.
I've always loved your reviews and I even try new things sometimes on your recommendations, but, serious question - Have you EVER eaten anything on these reviews when it was fresh and hot? Lots of fast food type things must be eaten right away pretty much as soon as you get them or they lose some of their shall we say charm (and taste) and I'm sure it is often 20 minutes or more have passed before you get the first bite in your reviews. I don't even like to use the drive up unless I'm gonna chow it down as soon as I pull away from the window because stuff has often lost some of it's goodness just bringing it home which takes maybe 5-7 minutes in most instances.
i agree. But to answer your question 2 months later: Yes. he has many (mostly older) reviews where he is in his car eating directly after getting it from the drivethru.
I love how he’s not completely serious and he has some fun trolling us with some of the things he says. Unless he is completely serious and is not joking one bit.
That's why I call him Review God😂 He actually at a whole slice of that crap without cursing or dying
I miss Taco Bell's enchirito...
Tacobell has made some very poor choices over the past 25 years with their food. Smaller portions, lower quaility beef, only 88 percent is real beef. Eggs, for example, contain not just chicken eggs, but also soybean oil, xanthan gum, and guar gum. Xanthan gum thickens and stabilizes the eggs, resulting in a creamy texture and a longer shelf life, which save Taco Bell money by reducing food waste. When any corporation only start to care about their shareholders and not the consumers then I will not support it. I have not had Tacobell for 25 years and I don't miss it at all.
Support your local resturants and you'll see a massive difference in food quaility and portion sizes.
When he looks dead in the camera and spins those stories about bathing in taco sauce without hesitation is always funny!
"I bet there was a time when the mexican pizza from taco bell was absolutely packed with flavor"
But that is not this day.
It's literally made with the same ingredients as everything else on the menu lol
@@andrewhanson1180 I thought it had a different sauce like an enchilada type sauce.
@@love-ip7sz I mean it has its own pizza sauce but other than that it's the same as everything else lol
@@andrewhanson1180 sauce or not it was and probably IS the most bland thing on the menu next to a cheese roll up. Meant for kids (or adults with kids taste) and at 5$ is hilarious. Tried it one time because of the name. Not worth 2$ IMO
Every time I go to Taco Bell, I end up disappointed.
I love watching Review Brah and I don't even know why. He's such a cool dude. I feel like we could hang out IRL and eat some food and talk about it.
Apparently you can recreate the exact flavor profile by using azteca shells, equal parts ragu + red enchilada sauce, canned taco bell refried beans, 3 cheese blend, fresh tomatoes, buy tacobell meat straight from the store, then put it together and steam it, since tacobell got no oven.
Their Mexican pizzas used to be good in the early '90s when I would buy them. At some point they started overloading them with refried beans while using little IF ANY ground beef. Haven't had one since they came back, but wouldn't pay $5 for one. That is ridiculous. Also back in the '90s it seemed Taco Bell held their restaurants to a higher standard, or at least trained management better, as the food was much more presentable and edible. On a sidenote I wish they'd find a way to market the Mexican pizza shells so I could make them at home.
I mean from the ingredients it literally just looks like a hard shell taco with refried beans and no lettuce. I don't know how people can actually get hyped over junk like this
Childhood nostalgia. I felt the pizza was fine. Worth $5? No. These things should be like $2 to make them worth it.
contrary to popular belief, they don't use taco shells, nor do they use tostadas, they're actually deep-fried flour tortillas. His was pretty fucked though. Granted I don't eat much fast food, maybe a couple times a year, but the mexican pizza was the only thing I would get at taco bell. His was all sorts of whack hahah, went the day after they re-released it, was exactly what I expected and exactly what I wanted.
Honestly it's one of the few items I've had recently from Taco Bell that didn't make me feel completely gross. It's comparable to what it was before. The whole menu is expensive though when I compare it to the local taqueria who can give me a taco with a substantial amount of steak for just $3 each, or a king burrito with everything on it for $9. Normally I wouldn't compare Taco Bell to the local taqueria, Taco Bell is Taco Bell, but they suck even in comparison to their past selves.
2 of these pizza things for $10 ..
No thanks , maybe $4
Reviewbrah, You seem like such a cool guy, dapper with the vintage suits and ties, the humor & I'v been watching your videos since 2013 and you've changed so much over the years, went from energy drinks to fast food, the hair styles, the vocabulary & the over all quality of your videos, keep up the good work brah!
they've changed the recipe when they brought it back, they don't use the same beans or sauce and they aren't steamed anymore they're fried.
I’m 80% sure the Taco Bell Higher ups get sweaty when they see a Review Brah upload
Damn this was a brutal review… I could feel the tension emanating from the screen here. I’ll probably try this myself but I’m already bracing for disappointment.
Its not as good as it used to be. Maybe when the hype dies down the quality will increase. Making like 1000 of them a day will definitely decrease quality.
I remember Mexican pizza from the olden days. A healthy dollop of Mexican flavored tomato sauce, a healthy sprinkle of Mexican flavored beef, lots of melted Mexican cheeses, some diced fresh vegetables (tomatoes). I don't even remember the beans, though they may have been there. The new iteration of Mexican pizza I recently eagerly bought seemed like a flavorless goo of unseasoned bean paste between two very slightly crisped tortillas. Will not buy again!
My theory on why the new mexican pizzas all suck is because it's been gone so long that none of the workers at any taco bell have been working long enough to know how to properly make them, so they're all having to be trained how to make this item that is, honestly, a lot more complex than the average item you would regularly get from them.
It's shrinkflation destroying the Mexican pizza one olive slice, one tomato chunk at a time. Really, it's just less and less every time I try one, and I was disappointed, too. Plus, it was always something that needed to be eaten immediately to keep it from being soggy. But the ingredients used to be a whole lot better.
You know Reviewbrah is about to lay down a beatdown if he stares into the camera after just one bite.
I love his dry humor. Much like Jack Benny who was a master at it.
As for the review, he's the second person I watched who said it wasn't very flavorful.
"You can hear that creature that's actually a helicopter is excited"

Taco Bell Food Rule:
The food is prepared by someone who doesn't care at all
or
The food is prepared by someone who barely cares.
You don't know till you open the box.
Sometime you do get that one worker who cares and makes it perfect, but only works the late shift for some reason...
I have a taco bell that is pretty close to me that is a 10/10 every time, they pack every taco with as much as they can and never make the food sloppily.
Then there is another Taco Bell closer to me that cheaps out and puts almost nothing in the tacos
Service really varies from place to place
Or you get the employee that actively hates you for making them prepare food because how dare you. So they make the food with literal disdain for the customer.

The Mexican Pizza has not been the same since they took the green onions off.
They stopped putting Green Onions when there was some health issue . I can understand them stopping putting them on after this happened for a few months but they NEVER brought it back again.
Why do they bring an amazing item back just to desecrate it? No tomatoes, not cut into 4 slices, pathetic. Oops in addition to chopped green onion, forgot that one.
